Our dear friend was a resident at Bishops Manor for just over 12 months and she often told me it was the happiest time of her whole life.
She had tasked me with finding her the best care home that I could and as soon as I visited Bishops Manor, and met the staff, I knew it was the place I had been looking for. I am glad to say that not only was I right, but that it went on to exceed my expectations. The facilities are excellent, the activities are excellent, the food is excellent, the care is excellent.

I cannot praise all of the staff too highly. All of them from the front desk and back office staff to the nursing and caring staff, are focused and dedicated. Our dear friend made some wonderful friends at this final stage of her life and enjoyed every minute of her stay at Bishops Manor. My wife and I will be forever grateful to all at Bishops Manor, who made our dear friend so very happy. Thank you all.

My mom moved into Bishops Manor in November 2022 after her health deteriorated and also following the loss of her beloved husband. It was a very difficult time emotionally for Mom and our family, but the carers that looked after my mom were so patient and caring. Just as Mom was settling in she became very poorly and went into hospital, but the news was not good, Mom returned to Bishops Manor for palliative care. The carers were absolutely wonderful, they welcomed Mom back into her beautiful room surrounded by her personal belongings. The carers were absolutely wonderful, they cared for my mom showing compassion and love and kept Mom’s dignity right up till Mom passed away in January. It was a very emotional time for all our family, but they welcomed us to stay with Mom day and night, they were all so kind. Bishops Manor is a beautiful care home and the carers should be proud of themselves for the professional, loving and compassionate care they gave to both Mom and family. Thank you.

Mum was a resident between May 2020 and November 2022, when she sadly passed away. Overall experience has been excellent, particularly during the challenging covid restrictions. Relating to the latest date ( November 2022), care was excellent, during very difficult and sad times for us. Mum was treated with respect and dignity throughout and especially during the final few weeks. There is a lovely atmosphere in this care home and I would be happy to recommend it to anyone.

I cannot praise Bishops Manor Care Home enough. The dedication, friendliness, care and compassion shown by all staff were outstanding whilst my husband resided there, albeit for a short time at the end of last year.

The commitment and passion for what they do are very evident, and I only wish he'd been in their care earlier.

My father has been at Bishops Manor since June 2022, he had just had a second stint in the hospital, and had become immobile and confused with signs of dementia. As a family, we were so worried and upset about putting our dad in a care home, but after finding Bishops Manor we felt totally at ease that Dad would be cared for and be happy there. The care and support my father has received is second to none, the staff are so caring and kind, they really create a feeling of family and he's very happy there. The home is spotlessly clean, and welcoming and feels very homely. He has a good-sized room with an en suite, which we decorated with his own pictures and paintings from home, so it feels like home from home to him. Any concerns we have had as his cognitive ability and mobility have declined and his dementia progressed have been addressed quickly and we've been reassured every step of the way. We are so grateful that we found Bishops Manor and we know our Dad is being cared for so well.

My Mother has been a resident since March 2021 and has always received excellent care and attention. Without exception, all of the team are kind and helpful while also being very professional. There are excellent facilities and a varied programme of activities. My Mother is always invited to take part in activities but is not 'bullied' into participating if she doesn't want to. The Tai Chi sessions have been particularly helpful in restoring and maintaining mobility and general health. The residents are given the opportunity to give feedback and suggestions at regular, minuted meetings and the team respond to requests in a positive manner. The food is excellent and if there are any special requests, these are accommodated, within reason. A big 'pointer' for me is that the building always smells fresh and clean as well as looking well-maintained; this is achieved with a quality system that is followed by all involved. An excellent place with caring and professional staff.

Since moving my mother to Bishops Manor I have been impressed with the care she has received. The staff are experienced, attentive and respond well to requests. The activities program is good and they really encourage the residents to get involved. Bishop's Manor is so much better than the previous home my mother was living in.

I can't fault Bishops Manor. The staff are lovely. They really care for and about my aunt and they look after her with consideration and dignity. My aunt has been in the home for 18 months and within 6 months, she was settled and now calls it her home. She is always well dressed and clean. She enjoys the food and snacks and has a favourite chair in the lounge. Her room and bathroom are always clean, as is the whole ground floor where she lives. I have complete confidence in Bishops Manor to look after her.

Mum has been a resident of Gracewell/Bishops Manor since 2019. During this time, her dementia has worsened considerably but the standard of care she receives has definitely not. She is treated with dignity and respect by her nursing and care teams who have got to know her very well, and actively encouraged to take part in a variety of activities which she enjoys. My sister and I have also been extremely well supported on Mum's journey with dementia, from our initial engagement with the admissions manager, the nursing and care staff who are never too busy to listen to our concerns and provide advice, through to the friendly reception team and kind and efficient housekeeping staff.

I have already recommended Bishops Manor to friends with relatives unable to live independently as a safe and caring environment with excellent facilities, and will not hesitate to do so again in the future.

I cannot speak highly enough of the team at Bishops Manor.
My mom has been here since the end of August 2021, moving in at very short notice.
With the help of the general manager and the admissions manager, they made this so easy. The general manager sat and chatted with Mom. Her warm, caring and respectful approach made Mom feel instantly at ease.
On ‘moving in day’, there was a lovely warm welcome from all, what a truly wonderful, kind and caring team.
Mom is eating and sleeping well, which has made a huge difference. She is bright and bubbly, ‘back to her old self’. What was just respite care, I think will now be permanent as Mom is so happy here. She feels safe and comfortable.
The care and support Mom receives from her Bishops Manor family are outstanding. The home is absolutely spotless, and the food and meal choices are fabulous.
There is always a warm welcome, nothing is any trouble for the dedicated management team and all of the dedicated staff.

Thank you all so very much.

My brother became a resident in 2021 after being assessed as needing extra care. We found this home after much searching and my nephew had a look around before we committed to it. We, as a family are so happy we opted for this lovely place and we can’t speak highly enough of them. The care and compassion they have shown to my brother were truly amazing and we couldn’t have asked for better. My brother had Alzheimer’s and sadly his condition deteriorated but the patience shown by all the members of staff was outstanding. My brother died in March but throughout his final days, they looked after him with gentleness and treated him with dignity and looked after me as I sat with him. The staff even stayed beyond their shift when they knew his passing was imminent and provided comfort to the family. Even as we left the home for his funeral they turned out to say goodbye to him. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law also has dementia but we are reassured to know she will be well looked after.

My mum, aged 84, moved into the home at short notice in January 2022. Despite the difficulties associated with Covid cases and control measures she has settled in really well. The staff are all extremely friendly and very approachable with a willingness to discuss any issues or concerns in an open and honest way. There is a wealth of experience and support to draw upon which has proved invaluable, particularly during the early settling in transition period. The monthly "Reach" meetings open to friends and family are an excellent way to chat informally with others and share ideas and thoughts whilst the staff provide guidance. The activities programme is a major plus point with a variety of events all aimed at helping mum enjoy life in this new environment. Now the warmer summer months are fast approaching the access to and use of the garden is such a great asset for all the residents.

My husband has been physically unstable for a very long time. Last year, in September we realised that even with the adaptations that we have made to our home, it was not a safe environment for him. We had visited various nursing care homes, but Gracewell was his preferred choice and he moved in at the end of September.

It has not been emotionally and easy settling in, but everyone there goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful to him. From the manager, who is always available and caring, no one passes without saying hello. Lockdowns have not been easy, and he has missed seeing family, but he has still felt cared for and noticed. I am always greeted warmly and called by my first name by nearly everyone. I have found it strange to hand over responsibility for my husband to the people at Bishops Manor, but I am kept informed and included in all aspects of his care and comfort. I especially appreciate the activities as at home there was far less to keep him stimulated.

Thomas Bampfield Job Title: Home Manager

Working at Bishop’s Manor is a privilege, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of our award-winning team.

Our beautiful home benefits from a strong, experienced management team whose vision, creativity, and commitment enhance the quality of care we provide. Together, we live by the belief that "teamwork makes the dream work," and this shines through in everything that we do.

I am also extremely grateful for the phenomenal nurses who lead each floor with passion and a genuine love for their work. My fantastic care team bring an all-hands-on-deck approach, demonstrating unmatched love, dedication and enthusiasm that amazes me every single day. Their commitment creates an incredible culture that not only enriches the lives of our residents but also brings in referrals and recommendations from the community and the families who trust us.

As someone who has been nominated for awards in our field, I am committed to holistic care that nurtures the whole person. This means taking time to truly listen to residents, understanding their experiences, and responding with compassion and empathy, qualities I believe are at the heart of meaningful care. It’s these moments that make a real difference in a resident’s day.

I am proud to be a nurse and to work at Bishop’s Manor, where every day offers the chance to positively impact the lives of my team, our residents and their families.
