My father has been in Gracewell since July 2020. Since that time, we have seen such an improvement. The staff have been wonderful, helping Dad settle in and ensuring that we were kept up to date with this process as we were still adhering to Covid guidelines in respect of visiting.
It was so important
for us to have that communication with staff. The admissions manager was/is amazing answering all our questions and getting to know my dad and still always available to answer our questions.
Seeing dad now, how the constant care provided to him has made him feel safe and happy at Gracewell, and we can see the positive change in him. Whilst this was such a hard decision to make, I know that it is the right decision when I can see this change.

My mum has become a resident since COVID-19 following falls at home.
She has a limited physical capacity (although this is improving with staff support) but full mental attributes.
She has settled in really well even at these challenging times when we can’t visit.
Mum is joining in a full a varied
activity programme trying new activities.
She enjoys the company of other residents and staff.
Mum was given the choice with the recent lockdown rules to stay with my sister or me, but without hesitation, she declined!
Her appearance and mood have both significantly improved since moving in.
We have recently started window visits again, which is nice.
The only thing she misses she says is family cuddles.
Mum has cancer too, which will limit her life, and I am sure she is in the right place for end of life care. My father also was a resident with different needs but passed away with dignity, respect and above all friends that cared for him.

Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield is a very well-run care home. The team are lovely and are very caring and understanding of the resident’s needs. The last few months have been an exceedingly difficult time for everyone, but I can honestly say from the first-hand experience that the team at Gracewell have
done an outstanding job. From the very beginning of the pandemic, extra safety measures and precautions were put in place, and residents’ families were kept up to date with regular communication throughout. When we had to make the difficult decision to put Dad into care due to Alzheimer’s we visited Gracewells to look around; the Home Admissions Adviser was our first contact and showed us so much compassion and we fell in love with the place. Dad moved in early Jan 2020 and settled in immediately; the
carers were amazing both with Dad and our family; I’d love to name them all but worried I’d miss someone out. Unfortunately, after suffering a stroke a couple of weeks later, he had a spell in hospital and on his return, his level of care had heightened which Gracewell adapted to with equipment and assisted feeding that was needed. Dad was with us until March 18th and as a family, we feel lucky that we were able to all be with him in his last week before lockdown. We were all looked after and believe Dad couldn’t have been in a better place. Thank you to everyone at Gracewell, always in our hearts.

My dad has always received excellent care at Gracewell. He has dementia and various physical and mental challenges and sometimes needs hospital treatment. The friendly and caring staff and management have always done their very best to support him and make his life at Gracewell happy and meaningful.
The food is always excellent with a good variety of dishes offered. Reception staff are very friendly and cooperative. The cleaning and maintenance team also do their utmost to make Dad feel wanted and at home. The rooms are spotless.
The care assistants do an amazing job. It can't be easy, but they are like angels.
Since the lockdown, Gracewell has a number of safety measures in place, and staff and residents remain in good health.
Gracewell also has a very full activity and entertainment programme, so there is never a dull moment for those who like to keep doing things. Staff members go out of their way to gently encourage Dad to participate. I thoroughly recommend Gracewell.

Both our parents have been residents at Gracewell. From the moment they arrived, they and our family were made to feel very welcome. The care they received was excellent with all staff, whatever their role, showing kindness, dignity, friendship and patience. The staff and management were always willing
to listen to us as mum and dad's needs changed. Even after hospital admissions, they were always welcomed back with open arms and any adjustments to their needs catered for seamlessly. The activities and wealth of varied good quality entertainment were enjoyed by residents and our family. The building and gardens were modern and of such a good standard I think mum and dad thought they were living in a 5* hotel. We will always remember the care and kindness shown to them and us as a family when their health declined and they passed away peacefully at Gracewell. Since this time we have been back to visit and have always received a very warm welcome. Thank you Gracewell.

Mom passed away very peacefully this week at Gracewell. She was cared for with dignity and respect throughout her short stay. The Gracewell family made her transfer from hospital seamless and welcomed her and her family, with open arms. Mom was a resident on the ground (nursing) floor and every member
of staff helped to make her stay the very best it could be. She loved her room which was elegant and beautiful. We had fun times with visiting entertainers and in house activities. During the summer months, staff would sit with residents in the beautiful garden and supply ice lollies which were always welcome. The atmosphere of Gracewell is one of laughter and fun, even when Mom was taken poorly and restricted to her bed, I was supported by staff through those last few days. They encouraged me to eat and drink, provided me with a mattress to sleep on and were always ready with a hug or a shoulder to cry on. Our time at Gracewell was very special and I will be forever grateful to everyone there.

My mother was a resident at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield for two years ending in July 2019. Mum's care was excellent in every way, and my sister and I felt positively and sensitively included in all decisions, from our very first encounter, to mum's very last minutes. Mum's final days exemplified
everything that is great about this care home; always looking out for what we needed or mum needed; never overbearing, always ready to help - staff showed genuine love and commitment to Mum at all times. They also worked very well with the district care team.


This all applied not only to Mum but to the attitude of staff to every resident, many of whom we got to know over the two years Mum was there.


I am familiar with the standards used by the Care Quality Commission and I am amazed that Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield only has a rating of 'Good'. I think they should be rated as 'Outstanding' - they strive for and achieve excellent every day, in my opinion.

When we viewed Gracewell for our friend in January 2018 we knew it was the place we wanted her to live, everything about it the rooms, the whole set up, the staff, the residents, it just felt right. We moved our friend in February 2018 and from the very first second, she was extremely well looked after,
cared for and loved. All staff are friendly and approachable, kind, loving and giving and this approach is extended to us as family members to. Sadly we lost our friend in April 2019 and the staff went above and beyond their duties and got us as a family through a difficult time. Thank you Gracewell "Family".

My Father-in-law was a resident for approaching 2 years until his recent demise. He was very well cared for in this beautiful and well-equipped home. The staff were well trained, very caring and compassionate and treated him like part of their own family. They went out of their way to meet his needs
and wants with great patience and understanding. Although he didn't take much part, the events and activities provided were well received and seemed very popular with the residents. We were always given a warm welcome as we visited at all times of day and night and the lounge, bistro, gardens and children's room are excellent facilities for family times. We were especially touched by the great sensitivity and dignity the staff gave both him and us in his final days. We are very grateful for all the kindness and consideration shown by all the staff both to father-in-law and to all the family, including his often boisterous great-grandchildren.

Following the loss of my father seven years ago, my 90-year-old mum wanted to stay in her own home as “it’s where my memories are.” We abided by her wishes with care from my sister, myself and carers coming in daily until Mum took the decision herself 12 months ago at the age of 96; “it was time to
look at a Care Home”; not an easy decision. After looking at three, we arrived at Gracewell and were blown away by the friendliness of everyone, a true home from home family feeling, so much so the first room that Mum was shown she said; “this is where I want to stay, when can I move in?”
Thank you Gracewell, nothing is too much trouble, Mum is so happy, she loves it and even says she wishes she’d moved in as soon as Dad had passed away and not waited so long. She loves the staff, food, entertainment, her room, even the cat!
Thank you Gracewell, you’ve given us peace of mind. Mum is very well cared for and most importantly, extremely happy.

My dad moved in here after several months in a hospital. Although very poorly he settled in quickly and all the staff were first class. On his first full day the staff dressed as "Beatles - Sergent Pepper" and the next day a cabaret singer came in, both enjoyed by all.
Dad enjoyed the activities and
it was easy to interact with the staff.
My mom was very worried about my dad in a nursing home but straight away we knew it was the right place, where we could all visit including young grandchildren. The "Bistro" area in reception was ideal to socialise, which mum enjoyed too. Every member of staff was loving in care. Thank you so much.

My elderly mother has been a resident at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield for over a year now. Since the day she moved in, she has been treated with the utmost care and respect. All her needs and preferences are met. The nursing staff are very professional, the laundry ladies very patient (she often "mislays"
items of clothing), receptionists always friendly and the manageress "hands-on" when needed. Home-made food is of high quality and they can request their own treats eg wine. Food Forums engage residents and Family and Friends meetings give feedback to staff.

My nan moved into Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield for a couple of weeks respite after a stay in the hospital. I can't even explain how amazing Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield is right down to the finest detail, they think of everything. All the staff and management are lovely, they spend time with them
and help in any way possible with any requirements from family or residents to make them feel at home. It's so lovely here and the care is outstanding which is what she needed and has improved from it that she has decided to stay permanently which we couldn't be happier about it is so nice to come and visit her here. You feel very welcome.

It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to express my, many, thanks to all the staff, starting with Management, who made my month's stay at Gracewell particularly excellent. Starting with the pristine room I was given, is delightful,m providing every comfort and facility, tended by staff who ensure

I am also extremely grateful for the phenomenal nurses who lead each floor with passion and a genuine love for their work. My fantastic care team bring an all-hands-on-deck approach, demonstrating unmatched love, dedication and enthusiasm that amazes me every single day. Their commitment creates an incredible culture that not only enriches the lives of our residents but also brings in referrals and recommendations from the community and the families who trust us.


As someone who has been nominated for awards in our field, I am committed to holistic care that nurtures the whole person. This means taking time to truly listen to residents, understanding their experiences, and responding with compassion and empathy, qualities I believe are at the heart of meaningful care.
