Hayward Care Centre is a 2015 addition to this provider's range of facilities, purpose-designed to support modern care practice that is individualised to suit the client, while employing professionals committed to a compassionate approach.

Independent living is supported by smaller and homely household units, which residents can personalise and which include ensuite bedrooms and wetroom showers.

These services are: Personal care, accommodation,
utilities, use of communal areas, meals, drinks and

Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
services at the time you request them.
They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
be paid for by yourself.

The staff at the home are really lovely and care beautifully for a lady whom I used to care for in her home. I now bring her brother to visit her and the staff look after him with kindness and compassion and always make his visits as nice as they can be at the moment with all the restrictions due to
Covid. Would highly recommend Hayward Care Centre.

My grandad was only at Hayward for a short time before he sadly passed away. The care, compassion and professionalism from all the staff were second to none. COVID-19 and his rapid deterioration meant that we hadn’t seen him for some time beforehand but the staff pulled out all the stops to allow us
to say our goodbyes and for that, we will be forever thankful.

My mother-in-law has previously stayed for respite and moved into the home in February. We as a family are extremely grateful for the care that she is receiving during this difficult time for all care homes. The home has Skype set up, and we speak to her every week, we were also thankful for a garden
visit this week. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, we cannot praise them enough for the way that they are caring for her during the crisis that is affecting everybody. The home has lovely facilities, I would like to be able to see more activity posted on Facebook as other homes do. We have another relation, in another home, and see lots of acuity taking place there.

I have found Hayward Care Centre to be a wonderful home for my mother. It is very homely and the staff friendly and helpful. My choice of home was sealed by the wonderful large garden full of flowers. A beautiful place to sit for both residents and visitors. It has a hairdresser, pub area, sunroom and
cafe on site. Plus lovely decorated lounge and kitchen area for each part of the home. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, clean facilities, activities. We like the cafe for onsite visits but also like that we are encouraged to go out and about. Love the garden. I would like to see complete sets of games and dominoes I always struggle to find a complete game.

Very friendly staff, the home is very well equipped, good activities and always very clean. Staff always on hand if you need them. My father has settled well and likes his room. His words "it's the Rolls Royce of homes".

My husband was treated kindly and involved in what was going on and reminded when needed. Rooms are very clean. He was able to walk around the facilities and gardens. The food is good. Visitors are made welcome.

My mum has been in Hayward for nearly 12 months now and she used to do daycare, but after being poorly she went in permanently and she is now well and happy and we have peace of mind that she is well cared for.
The home is great as are all the staff, great communication with us as a family mum is happy
and is her old self again.

The care centre is generally very good. The food is not always very good for tea time meals. There isn't always a decent choice for the residents, maybe just baked potato or sandwiches. Lunch meals seem to be okay. There are good activities for the residents but obviously, they can't happen every day.
There is often a shortage of staff so they can't always give residents the time they need. However, they do have a good relationship with my Mum.

I find the home to be comfortable with nice on suite rooms and good facilities. The food is nutritious and plentiful, the staff are caring and friendly. Activities are varied and often with good staff and resident participation. Hygiene is of a high standard with good laundry facilities. There always
seems to be adequate staff present on the units.

After a rocky start of having to chase for basic care to be performed, I think we have finally turned a corner. My father likes the care home and staff and I find all the staff friendly and approachable now that problems have been resolved. The care home manager is open to hearing about any problems
you may have and does try to rectify as quickly as possible. Rooms are a good size, food is plentiful, cleaning of rooms could be more thorough. I hope the care that my father is now, finally receiving continues - but I should not have had to chase for basic tasks to be completed.

Dad originally went in on a respite stay with a view to a permanent stay.
All the staff are lovely, attentive and willing to deal with difficult situations which my dad experienced due to his Dementia.
He has now settled very well and seems as happy as he could be considering his condition.
Food
is excellent, facilities and appearance of the home.
It feels like a hotel sometimes which is great.

Hayward has a friendly, caring and professional environment. Staff seem genuinely fond of mum and treat her with dignity, care and friendship - they have a real human touch.
If we have concerns staff listen and deal with them as soon as they can.
We are always made to feel welcome.
There is a good
variety of activities - days out, singers, music and dance therapy, visiting musicians etc.

Meet the Team (5)

Helen

Helen Shepherd

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2011

Helen started her care career in 2001, and joined Hayward Care Centre as home manager in February 2025. She joined OSJCT Watersmead in 2011 as a carer and worked her way through many different roles. In April 2017 she was appointed Head of Care at OSJCT Brookside in Melksham and then she returned to Watersmead, where she became Home Manager, in July 2018.


Helen is extremely passionate about creating a wonderful home for her residents and championing person-centred care. “This is what I want to pass onto the team to support and develop them all to be the very best they can be”, Helen says.


Over the years Helen has completed her QCF level 2 and 3 in health and social care and she is currently working through her Level 5.


In her spare time, Helen loves spending time with her family. She has three amazing children along with Jasper, her long-haired dachshund, who she takes everywhere at the weekends. She also enjoys keeping fit with regular Zumba sessions and swimming.

Glynnis

Glynnis Galloway

Job Title: Care Service Manager Joined: 2007

Glynnis oversees the care across the home and her ethos of care is that it’s all about enabling people to live their lives how they choose. She has worked for OSJCT since 2007 and at Hayward Care Centre since 2015.

Glynnis is a qualified psychiatric nurse and has links with the local churches to support Hayward’s residents.


She loves walking through the doors in the morning knowing that she’s going to make a difference to people in the home. Outside work, Glynnis volunteers with the local Alzheimer’s support group.

Jemima

Jemima McGrath

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator Joined: 2024

Jemima loves to work with people, and that is evident in everything she does. She organises a varied programme of activities for our residents at Hayward Care Centre and spends time talking to everyone, learning what each likes to do or would like to try. The activities include regular favourites like skittles, curling, music and movement, bingo, and the ever popular – and competitive! – Friday quiz.


Outside work, Jemima runs a Brownie group and teaches a ballet class. Previous roles have included being a nanny, and an outdoor activity instructor. Jemima has worked at Hayward Care Centre since February 2024.

Suzanne

Suzanne Davison

Job Title: Support Worker Joined: 2023

Suzanne has worked at Hayward Care Centre since November 2023, and this is her first role in care.


Previously, she worked as a cabin crew.


Suzanne loves following jobs through to the end, and loves the attention to detail that her job allows, remembering all the little things about the people she cares for; who likes their tea in a mug and who prefers a cup and saucer? Who likes their toast cut into squares and who prefers triangles?


When she’s not working, Suzanne loves spending time with her young family and being out in the countryside.

Georgie

Georgie Hill

Job Title: Support Worker Joined: 2020

Georgie has been with the Trust, and Hayward Care Centre, since 2020 and previously ran a pub with her dad before. Her role now is to support residents however they need, promoting their independence.

Georgie says that the best thing about her job is being there for the residents, day in, and day out, and hearing about their lives because everyone is different.


Outside work, Georgie likes to spend time with her family, including her nephews.
