Mum has been at Lonsdale Mews for just over a year now, having moved from another local 'luxury' care home, which fell more than a little short on the care and compassion front! I very quickly learnt that not all luxury care homes are equal - and although Lonsdale has beautiful interiors, lots of comfortable social spaces and a wonderful garden, it really is the dedication, compassion and kindness of the staff, whatever their role, that truly makes Lonsdale Mews a special place. I can't recommend them enough. They are well-staffed. Nothing is too much trouble. They have a brilliant lifestyle team who are always coming up with ideas to keep everyone busy and engaged, from baking and gardening to topical and interesting talks, book clubs, tea parties and zoo trips. I feel so relieved that my lovely mum, who is suffering from dementia, is in such safe and caring hands. A huge 'thank you' to all at Lonsdale!
We are delighted that your mum settled so well with us and that you are happy with all that we provide to care for her.

I would highly recommend Lonsdale Mews. It is loads better than the last care home she was in.
We are delighted that your mum is happy and has settled in so well with us.
At Lonsdale Mews Care Home - Care UK we set a high standard for ourselves, so we are very pleased to hear that your experience with us has been a positive one.
Many thanks,
The Lonsdale Mews team, Care UK.
Everything about Lonsdale Mews is perfect for my Mum and knowing she is safe, comfortable and being well cared for, by people who care is very important. There is always plenty of activities taking place, sometimes I feel I need to make an appointment in her busy days, which was important as she was feeling isolated living in her house.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience. It is lovely that your mum is so involved in the activities and it has made a positive difference to her life.

My mum has been a resident at Lonsdale Mews since January 2023. She is so happy here, the staff are so good and friendly and can’t do enough for her. The food and service are 5*, and every day the tables are set out just like a 5* restaurant, and entertainment and trips organised by the staff are just brilliant I feel my mum is receiving the best level of care at Lonsdale and feel secure and very happy in that knowledge. This place is on another level and long may it last, as it’s nice seeing my mum so happy there.

Mum has been in Lonsdale Mews for just over a month. Her experience, and ours, has been extremely positive. She has settled in surprisingly quickly, due to being made welcome and dealt with professionally at all times. The care is truly excellent - friendly, expert, tailored to individual needs, and genuinely caring at all times. The staff are committed and attentive, and kind and professional at all times, day or night. As relatives, we have been kept closely involved and communication has been consistently good. Access to additional support, when needed, has been quick and effective. There is lots going on, always, so it is a stimulating and active environment for the residents. Most of all, Mum feels safe and cared for, and is enjoying her time. It is a difficult transition to move into a care home, but at Lonsdale the excellent staff make it as smooth and easy as it could possibly be. We're really pleased and grateful for all the care and attention Mum is receiving.
My mother has now been a resident at Lonsdale Mews Care Home for several weeks. The home itself is very stylish but also clean, and comfortable and it is a pleasure to visit. All the staff have been so caring and kind, and have really made, not only my mum feel at home and safe, but have also given myself and my sister, huge relief and security, knowing that mum is in such a lovely place. Moving mum out of her own home was very traumatic but we are so grateful for all the kindness shown and all the little details that you, at Lonsdale, put in, that make it a very special place, and we feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful place for our mum to spend her retiring years. Thank you

Thank you for the kind words about our staff and...
From the first day, Dad was welcomed with open arms and grew to love his life and the people involved with Lonsdale Mews. He wanted for nothing and received 5-star care and round-the-clock attention.
His days were occupied with varied daily activities when we wanted, or quiet solitude when he preferred. The staff were professional and fun, always caring and their attention to his personal needs and ways went a long way to ensuring his stay at Lonsdale was a happy one.
Unfortunately, Dad passed peacefully away very recently, but thanks to the wonderful people of Lonsdale Mews they made Dad's last months the happiest of past years with his declining health.
We can't thank them enough.

My experience of Lonsdale Mews has been positive from the outset. The initial meeting was with the Manager, who was professional and answered all our questions. When my mum arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming, doing everything they could to help her settle in. As the weeks have gone by it’s been really easy to chat and work with the brilliant Watermead Team and this has helped me be more relaxed about the whole process. Alongside my mum’s excellent care, very good food and lovely surroundings are the lifestyle team who work so hard to make sure my mum has a lot of activities and social interaction to join in with. Thanks to all at Lonsdale!

My mum has been living here for a month and absolutely loves it. It's lovely to see a smile on her face every day. The staff are caring and very friendly and attentive, and the home is very clean and of a very good standard. Mum feels like she's in a hotel with the added bonus of 24-hour care for her, which puts her mind at rest and mine as well. It's great there are activities for my mum to participate in as well; she looks forward to every meal. Thank you, Lonsdale Mews.

You guys are simply the best. Thank you so much, it is much appreciated. Please keep up the good work.
Fabulous team, exceptionally comfortable and safe rooms and environment...great facilities!
We've made the perfect choice!
I approached this stay with some trepidation, due to my complete ignorance of care homes, apart from the one my father was in for a few years back in the 90's. This was mitigated by a very good trip around Lonsdale when we were shown the hairdressing salon, various activity rooms, the garden (accessed from each room via their own patio) and a lounge and dining room for each unit - 16 beds, and a room of course.
When we arrived, the carers saw to the unpacking and also that everything was labelled. I cannot speak too highly of the carers - they were always friendly and nothing appeared to be too much trouble! One of their jobs was serving the food which relates to my only criticism - the evening meal was served at 4.30, a bit early for me, and it made the evening very long. The activities were great too, no doubt helped by having one lead per unit. Well, that is a summary of my stay which makes me keen to go back!
We are so pleased to hear of your experience when moving into Lonsdale Mews for a respite stay and value your comments in regard to our dedicated care team. We are sorry to hear that you felt dinner was served early. At Lonsdale Mews, although we encourage socialising during mealtimes, residents...
My mother-in-law moved into Lonsdale Mews in December 2021 and the care she has received over the last year has been excellent. She has slowly advancing dementia and the team have known how to support her in that, to ensure that her daily care is of a high standard and that she is able to engage in a huge variety of activities to maximise her quality of life. The team are well resourced, stable and settled and always quick to respond to any questions that we have. The home is very new and the facilities are well kept. My mother-in-law particularly enjoys the garden and she is encouraged to engage in various gardening activities. Overall, we have been very impressed with the home and although we know that the years ahead will be challenging with advancing dementia, we have confidence that the care standards will remain high and that we will be well supported by the team at Lonsdale.
What a pleasure it has been for us to instantly see our dad's former sociable character, sense of humour, mojo and sparkle return. We had warned the Lonsdale Mews carers not to expect too much from him, given that he'd had such a rough few years, both with his own health and having cared for his late wife, who passed last year with advanced dementia. With a combination of this; Covid lockdown; and his own deteriorating health; several nasty falls; and the stuffing being knocked out of his confidence and mental well-being, we thought we had lost his big smile and laughter forever.
However, thanks to the fabulous care, amazing home-from-home environment, and encouraging atmosphere, my father-in-law's first week at Lonsdale has been so special!
My father moved to Lonsdale Mews on the 5th of December and settled in straight away. In fact, he says he loves it there. The staff are so helpful and attentive and we cannot thank them enough for what could have been a difficult transition. The rooms are spacious, light and very comfortable. It really is a 5-star home-from-home. The sociable environment has been the making of him. I would highly recommend Lonsdale Mews to anyone.
Following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's and after long and difficult discussions, my brother and I felt it appropriate for Mum to try a care home. We chose Lonsdale Mews having had many recommendations from friends whose parents had stayed for either respite or permanent care. From day one, Mum has been extremely well looked after. She found it very difficult to settle in but the staff have always been kind and sympathetic making the transition somewhat easier. She has a lovely room in the middle of her suite and she has returned to her pre-covid self. She is joining in with the many varied activities in the Lonsdale timetable. Mum enjoys the food and could not fault the staff. Knowing that Mum is safe and warm, enjoying herself, eating well and chatting with other residents is a great comfort to me. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Lonsdale Mews, more of a 5* hotel than a care home!
I cannot rate this care home highly enough. Mum is in respite care, and from the moment she arrived, the staff could not do enough for her. They treat her as an individual and like she was one of their relatives. The room is amazing, and the facilities are fantastic. I cannot believe the entertainment and the different activities that are laid on. The staff are fabulous, and they support Mum with all her needs and are extremely patient with her as she recovers from a fall. The care organisations often come under a lot of criticism, Lonsdale Mews is exceptional, and I cannot thank them enough for the care and kindness they have shown to Mum and continue to do so whilst she recovers. Thank you!
So far I have been very impressed with the attitude and care provided at Lonsdale Mews. Thank you for looking after my mum, it's very reassuring to know she's in such good hands. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home in the Charnwood area.
Comfortable, spacious room.
Very attentive, kind caring staff.
Good varied menu catering for my swallowing difficulties.
Visitors were always welcome.
Wouldn't hesitate to return and would willingly recommend Lonsdale Mews to anyone who enquires.
Mum is now settled in a lovely room on the dementia floor and very well looked after by all the friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble and it is great peace of mind for us knowing that mum is settled and safe and well cared for. The food is excellent and the chefs make an extra effort to accommodate her diabetic needs.
Overall we would not hesitate to recommend Lonsdale Mews, it has a lovely feeling about it - almost like a posh hotel rather than a care home.

Meet the Team (1)

I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse and was a Dementia and Safeguarding Lead in a nursing home before I joined the Lonsdale Mews team. As a brand new home, Lonsdale Mews looked like an incredible place to work, and it offered exciting new opportunities.
Working with older people is incredibly rewarding, and my favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and their families, getting to know them. We’re a big home team, so it’s good to take time to get to know colleagues better, too.
While being adept at all things care-related is vital in this role, it’s also important to have strong communication and people skills. What we do is all about people, so I always aim to be approachable, open and fair.
When I’m not at work I enjoy going to music concerts and the cinema. I also love my holidays!
