Visited my mother in Lonsdale in November and again was amazed by the level of care Mum is receiving! The staff are very friendly and there is a genuine care and respect shown towards all residents. No request is a bother to the staff and it is clear that they all have strong personal connections with
the residents from welcoming family by name to getting updates from residents about hobbies/interests.
The facilities are always spotless and Mum is always complimentary about the restaurant and the quality of the food. Of particular note for me is the fact that the facility is staffed to ensure the required level of support and care is always available. For example, while waiting outside Mum's room one afternoon, an 'assistance required' light came on in another resident's room and within 20 seconds two members of staff responded from different directions, very impressive.
Most importantly, Mum is very happy as a resident and receives first-class care and attention!

Mum has now been a dementia suite resident for over two years. The fabulous staff have coped admirably with some extremely challenging behaviour and the lifestyle team work very hard to include her in their busy activity programme.
I feel so lucky, on Mum’s behalf, that Lonsdale Mews is now her home.
The facilities and food are excellent. Truly residential care at its best, my opinion based on a career involving numerous care home visits.

Fabulous!
The team at Lonsdale Mews has been wonderful to my 86-year-old mother who has Alzheimer’s. Arriving in 2022 she settled in quickly, and benefited tremendously from the organised framework of mealtimes and activities. Knowing that she is happy and being very well cared for is not only comforting
for our family, but meets our goal for our deserving and much-loved mother. We should have made the move sooner.
Thank you to everyone at Lonsdale!

In January this year we realised, as a family, that my parents were no longer able to live independently. Fortunately we were already aware of Lonsdale Mews in Quorn. The customer relations manager was fantastic and my parents were quickly accommodated as a couple and able to share a bedroom. Lonsdale
has a lovely feel. It's very homely and clean. All the staff are friendly, caring, supportive and above all seem very happy. There are plenty of varied activities which my parents are now beginning to participate in and enjoy. There is so much attention to small details relevant to them which encourages them to feel special and get involved. Visiting is great. Everyone there welcomes visitors and dogs are welcomed too. The recent mini dog show was such fun. It's also easy to keep in touch with activities. Yesterday there were even visiting goats! Having felt sad that they can't live independently anymore, I am content that they are now in good safe and caring hands.

Your positive feedback about the home, and the teams is much appreciated and will be fed back to our colleagues. It is wonderful that they are engaging well with the variety of activities and they are feeling very much included in the home. We are very pleased to hear that your experience with us has been such a positive one; we do set a high standard for ourselves, so we do appreciate this very much. Mum and Dad have been residents at Lonsdale Mews for nearly 2 months as they were no longer able to live independently. The whole process from the initial tour to confirming rooms and introduction into the care home has been very smooth and professional. The facilities are excellent and staff from all
departments work very hard to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable. They are able to share a bedroom and also have their own living room as well as all of the shared community areas. There is an incredible programme of activities and it is reassuring to see that my parents are engaging in a variety of events. We are very confident that they are in the best possible place and are as happy as possible.

We are very happy with the level of care provided at Lonsdale Mews for my father-in-law. The whole team are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. There is a tangible, upbeat culture but with lots of sensitivity and respect shown to residents and family members alike. There are many activities
which residents can participate in if they’d like to. These are varied and lighthearted which adds to the general, positive feel of the home. Whilst we are all very sad as a family that my father-in-law is no longer able to live independently; we are so grateful to have found the next best thing for him. The home is really clean and decorated to a high standard with lots of lovely ‘home from home’ touches. Management is always accessible and highly responsive. Our two little boys love visiting their grandpa here which is a testament to the whole team who always makes us all feel so welcome (not to mention the ice pops in the freezer!). Thank you everyone at Lonsdale Mews.

Dad has been living at Lonsdale Mews for over 2 years now and it is reassuring for the family to see how well cared for he is. All the staff go above and beyond in looking after him and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble.
The activites that are organised on a daily basis are varied and Dad does
attend some of them especially the talks which are well-researched and presented.

My wife entered Lonsdale Mews originally for Respite Care. We then decided she would be more comfortable staying on as she was no longer able to cope at home. From the first, the care, comfort and attention to detail, by all of the staff, have been exemplary. Perhaps rare, Lonsdale Mews devotes major
effort to inclusive activities for all of the residents [and sometimes their families]. All the staff involved in these programmes are dedicated to keeping residents interested and happy. The outdoor and external programmes will doubtless also be popular with residents as the weather improves.
On Christian name terms with many, I try to visit each day with our Norfolk terrier, and he is much fussed over too! I have nothing negative to say about Lonsdale Mews in terms of the quality and care of the staff and the pleasure that all wish to bring to the variously afflicted residents. Friendly and readily available staff in a clean, and attractive facility, Lonsdale Mews and its catering will be hard to beat.

Deciding that it was time to find a care home for my husband was the most difficult decision I have ever taken. All the staff at Lonsdale Mews are so friendly and caring and my husband's needs, likes and dislikes are taken into consideration at all times. He needs help with all aspects of daily life
and the carers' patience and good humour could not be bettered. The rooms and communal areas are beautifully decorated with many homely touches and are kept spotlessly clean. Of great importance to my husband is the quality of the meals, which are excellent! I am so pleased that my husband can choose whether to participate or not in the many activities each week. He is not much of a joiner but we have both enjoyed the musical afternoons. All in all, I do not believe that I could have found a more pleasant or caring environment for my lovely husband, who deserves the best. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Lonsdale Mews.

Like anyone involved in the care of a loved one with dementia it is difficult to find the right place as round-the-clock care becomes necessary. From the moment my aunt stepped into Longsdale Mews any doubts were erased. The care and attention to help her make this huge transition has been wonderful.
We were able to personalise her room before she moved in and on that first night when we sat on her bed with a lovely cup of tea and one wonderful member of staff in particular, who was just so kind, it absolutely felt the right decision. The absolute attention to detail in terms of the decor is just beautiful and the activities provided each day are incredible. Without exception the staff are just the most caring and positive people who appear to really love this incredibly important work they are doing. This is a place where despite the great challenges in life (there are many!) there still remains much living to enjoy!

Both Mum and Dad stayed for a couple of years, and we were very happy. The facility is excellent, the cleanliness and the quality of food are really good, but most of all, the staff were just so caring and sensitive. They were constantly trying to involve them in the numerous activities that were going
on. The garden was a popular location. Towards the end, the staff were brilliant and really helped my wife and me through those final stages for both Mum and Dad. If I have to end my days in a home, I hope it's as good as Longsdale.

Lonsdale Mews is like a luxury hotel for the aged.
It was the only choice for my mother, who has dementia. The staff were so welcoming and informative on our first visit and made the move very smooth. We love the homely atmosphere and the large en-suite rooms; you can bring your own furniture and pictures,
and it’s spotlessly clean. The food is all cooked from scratch, and the cafe in reception is super, with homemade cakes always on offer. The beautiful garden was also a massive plus. She moved into the home in April, only a month after my father died. It was a big wrench, but the staff were so kind and lovely and really did their best to settle her. She is now settled and happy, joining in with lots of the amazing entertainment put on by the fantastic, enthusiastic lifestyle team; there is something planned every morning and afternoon and trips out too. I can’t rate the staff too highly, so friendly, helpful and caring, it’s a great comfort to know she’s being so well looked after.

My mum moved into Lonsdale Mews in November 2023 and has settled very quickly. The staff are caring and friendly and encourage my mum to participate in the activities and social opportunities. She is happy, engaged and feels safe and cared for. The team welcomed Mum and supported her brilliantly with
the transition and shown her lots of kindness.
Her room is cosy, and the facilities are excellent. Mum loves the "special" bathroom, hairdressing and activities. The food is good, and the small lounge and dining areas encourage communication and social interaction. I am thrilled that she has settled in well and feels "at home". Thank you.

I can't believe that this is a care home and not a five-star hotel. The bedroom is spacious and well-equipped, and we are welcome to bring items from home as well. The corridors are wide, giving an airy and spacious feel, and I really like the fact that the home is divided into four units, each with
its own dining room. This makes meal times so much nicer than being in a large room. The staff are wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The meals are excellent, and there is always coffee/tea and biscuits available (if you can manage any more after all the meals!). My husband has always dreaded going into care but is quite content at Lonsdale - a tremendous load off my mind and that of the whole family.

Lonsdale Mews is an attractive building, modern and clean, with all the facilities you might expect from a first-rate home. It is professionally run by a very capable team.

We viewed a number of homes on behalf of my uncle and had no hesitation in choosing Lonsdale Mews.
From the moment you enter Lonsdale Mews, there is a warm positive atmosphere around the home, and you immediately feel very welcome.

Lonsdale is a truly beautiful place to call home for the people we love, and who need 24-hour care. It’s a spotlessly clean, modern home with amazing facilities and team. Each and every one of the team has made my mother-in-law feel so welcome, at home and cared for, and each visit we get updates on
her wellbeing and what she’s been up to – they are always doing something!
When you walk into Lonsdale, you immediately feel the positivity, care and professionalism with how everything is done – this was evident from my very first contact and visit with their customer relations manager. At Lonsdale, I know she is safe, stimulated and living the fullest of lives with daily activities, a fab hair salon, cinema and café, which is the hub of Lonsdale.
I sum this wonderful place up in one sentence, ‘it’s a place I could only dream of calling home and being cared for in my senior years’ – and that comes down to the love, care and efforts of the amazing people who are the Lonsdale team.

We needed a care home to provide respite/convalescent care for Mum following hip replacement after a fall. At Lonsdale Mews, we were impressed by the friendliness and approachability of the staff, the relaxed atmosphere, and the obvious contentment of the residents. The care and attention Mum received
were exemplary, and the lifestyle team encouraged her to participate in a wide range of group activities, which she enjoyed very much. Inside the building, a lot of thought has gone into the layout, with plenty of areas for socialising, lounges, a cafe, a cinema, hairdressers, and a shop. Outside, there are wonderful landscaped gardens, which are a pleasure to walk around. Lonsdale is also dog-friendly, so residents still get to see their pets. Mum celebrated her 90th birthday whilst there, and the catering staff made a beautiful birthday cake to mark the occasion. She's home now, but when the time comes for full-time residential care, we'll have no hesitation in choosing Lonsdale Mews.

It was our pleasure to care for your mum during the time she was recovering from her operation, and so pleased that she benefited from the friendship and support that we provided for her. It was fantastic that she joined in so much of our activity programme during her stay too.
We are very pleased to hear that your experience with us has been such a positive one. We pride ourselves on achieving the high standards that we set ourselves.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We would highly recommend Lonsdale Mews Care Home. My parents have received the very best of care from the moment they arrived. The staff were friendly, courteous and kind. My wife and I were confident that my parents were in the very best hands and that their individual care needs were assessed and
fully met by the whole caring team. There is a warm and homely atmosphere throughout the building. There are lots of events and outings which my mother really enjoyed during her stay at Lonsdale Mews. The management team kept me informed and sent photos of both my parents having a lovely time. Dad had a few outpatient hospital visits to attend while staying at Lonsdale. This was not a problem as transport to and from the hospital was arranged by the home and a carer escort provided too. On-site there is a hair dresser which mum really enjoyed. She had a hand massage on another occasion by one of the care staff. Thank you to everyone for looking after my beloved parents.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.974) out of 10 for Lonsdale Mews is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 71 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 71 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.974 for Lonsdale Mews is calculated as follows: ( (828 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 849 Ratings = 4.974
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lonsdale Mews is based on 71 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 71 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse and was a Dementia and Safeguarding Lead in a nursing home before I joined the Lonsdale Mews team. As a brand new home, Lonsdale Mews looked like an incredible place to work, and it offered exciting new opportunities.

Working with older people is incredibly rewarding, and my favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and their families, getting to know them. We’re a big home team, so it’s good to take time to get to know colleagues better, too.

While being adept at all things care-related is vital in this role, it’s also important to have strong communication and people skills. What we do is all about people, so I always aim to be approachable, open and fair.

When I’m not at work I enjoy going to music concerts and the cinema. I also love my holidays!
