My mother was resident in Lonsdale Mews from April 2021 until her death in May 2022. Up to her last month there I was delighted with everything about the Home - eg, the stimulation through targeted activities, the food, the welcome, the standard of housekeeping. During May my mother showed signs of 'winding down', however, all the staff continued to encourage her to eat, drink and take an interest in what was going on. I was able to spend as much time with her as I wanted and was made to feel very welcome. As my mother slowly deteriorated, I was privileged to witness wonderful care all staff gave her (including care staff, administration and housekeeping); they treated her with such dignity, kindness and friendship, which was very moving and reassuring. In the last few days of her life, I was able to stay in the home to be near her. For a woman who spent her life considering and caring for others, this was the most fitting ending. I will always be grateful to Lonsdale Mews staff.

My grandma always seems happy and relaxed when I come to see her. Although due to her condition she struggles to realise who I am. I find that she is always in great spirits and upbeat when I come to see her. The whole setting gives a very relaxed and friendly feel together with the nice cafe with some excellent pastries. All of the staff also seem very friendly and helpful whenever I have visited and everyone knows each and everyone's names which also gives that homely feel to the place.

I would like to thank all the staff at Lonsdale Mews for their exceptional customer service for both my grandpa (as a resident) and myself, when visiting. They made us all feel extremely welcome, and no request or question was a problem. They took brilliant care of my grandpa and ensured all of his needs were met and liaised with us over any concerns. It felt like he was at a hotel! Thank you all again for making his stay a great experience all round.

I was a little anxious about Mum going into full-time care. Her support needs were becoming greater and we realised that we could no longer provide the level of care at our home she required. However, my anxieties were misplaced and Lonsdale Mews has surpassed my expectations. Their greatest asset is their staff. Kind, friendly and courteous, I couldn't wish for nicer people looking after my mum. Mum has had a couple of spells of feeling unwell, but the skill and professionalism of the staff meant that illnesses were promptly identified and referrals to other services made in a timely manner. Besides the staff, the care home setting is a delight; modern, light and thoughtfully laid-out. Nice touches like the memory boxes at each resident's door mean that care is very individualised and personal. The cafe at the entrance gives a lovely welcoming touch. I know Mum enjoys the food and the choice and variety is extremely impressive. I fully recommend Lonsdale Mews for your loved one.

Having spent some time going through the care homes within our area for my Mother-in-law, we very quickly came to what we know has been the right decision for her to move into full-time care at Lonsdale Mews. From the moment we walked in the door, to then being given a very full and thorough walk round of the full complex, we could see and tell that this was going to be right for her. All of the staff were instantly friendly and the residents were all clearly very happy there. The room that she has is in a nice location with all women of similar care needs which helped her settle in very quickly. We really liked how you were encouraged to make as many adjustments to her room so as to make it feel more like a real home from home for her. Since moving in, we can clearly see a change for the better with her in both her enjoyment of the food now with the choices that she has, as well as being a lot more sociable and she has even started to take part in some of the activities.

From the first tour with the Customer Relations Manager, we knew that Lonsdale Mews offered something special. Tremendous care has been taken with the design of the facilities. The spacious bedrooms, wonderful gardens, dining rooms, cafe and a myriad of other facilities are the nicest I have seen, having visited several other facilities. Most impressive though is the fantastic Lonsdale team. I feel that Mum's needs, social, medical, nutritional and physical, are well understood and demonstrated in the care shown day in, day out by the team leaders, care, food preparation and housekeeping staff. The leadership team clearly have their finger on the pulse, demonstrated by the consistently high standards maintained across the board - thus the 5/5 score. Finally, having dropped in unannounced to see Mum at all hours of the day, the kindness towards Mum that I have seen every single time has touched my heart - and to the Day Care Team Leader, thank you for the glasses support. I cannot recommend Lonsdale Mews highly enough.

Lonsdale Mews is a lovely place. It doesn’t seem like a care home but a rather nice hotel for older people. The rooms are fabulous and the staff are always happy to help - nothing is too much trouble. The garden is wonderful and ideal for residents to sit out, see relatives or be entertained in. I felt confident that my loved one was in safe hands and would receive the best of care whilst there on a respite stay. I cannot fault the care my loved one received - I would not hesitate to recommend Lonsdale Mews to anyone.

In my capacity as Provincial Grand Master for the Masonic Province of Leicestershire & Rutland, I have visited many care homes in the two counties to meet masonic residents and talk to them about their accommodation, health, and happiness.
When the time came for me to seek out respite accommodation I visited Lonsdale Mews and was given a very comprehensive tour of the accommodation and an explanation of the life led by the residents including the facilities and activities available to them.
On completion of my visit, there was no doubt I n my mind that the accommodation, cleanliness, entertainment, and dining were far I excess of most of the other facilities provided by other homes.
I decided as a result to book a two week respite period,
The care, friendliness, facilities, and service I experienced during those two weeks were faultless and at no time could I find cause for complaint and left me in no doubt I had made the right choice.

I would have no hesitation in reccommending it to anyone.

My mum has been at Lonsdale Mews since March 2021 and she recently celebrated her 95th birthday. This is a special place with exceptional staff and I am so grateful for the care mum receives. Any issues with her health are dealt with quickly, getting help from the local GP practice when necessary. Any change in mum is quickly detected, and basic checks like checking for urine infections are done immediately by the staff. They include the family in decisions and we have gained confidence that issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. The staff know mum really well and although her dementia means she can't always remember the special events that take place, she clearly enjoys them. The home recently did a lovely afternoon tea party in a private room for mum's birthday. My four siblings and our partners had a fabulous afternoon and mum absolutely loved it. It was a really difficult time when mum came into Lonsdale Mews after losing my dad to Covid-19 and choosing Lonsdale Mews was the best decision we made.

Mum joined the Lonsdale family in January this year. It was the hardest decision my sister and I had to make, but know it was the right decision.

The team at Lonsdale are fantastic, they are so caring with a great sense of humour. They are all so supportive and encouraging. They listen to our requests and do what they can to meet them.

It is so refreshing to be able to visit mum regularly, taking her out and spending time with her in her room, which is so important. Lonsdale has a sensible and practical approach with regards to wretched Covid, something which is paramount to us.

The activities available to the residents are brilliant and so much effort is put into organising various events. The latest being mum dancing with the wonderful Team Leader allowing her to move and enjoy music which is such a passion for her. She still has rhythm, mum was a ballet dancer.

Thank you to all the team you are doing a great job.

Our mum was cared for at Lonsdale Mews for only a few weeks at the end of her life. With advanced dementia, she had been cared for by my sister for many years and we were nervous about the transition. From the outset, she was treated with care, dignity and respect. The family were included despite Covid-19 restrictions, which were sensitively and sensibly applied. Professional assessments were arranged quickly and appropriate support was provided. It is fair to say that significant care was needed and cheerfully given. When it became clear that our mum was in the terminal phase of life, the staff were hugely supportive of our large family, enabling her to have open visiting 24-hours a day for the last week of her life. This was provided without compromising the safety of other residents. This gave us immeasurable comfort and we are very grateful to all the staff, who were without exception, warm and welcoming. In such a short time, the staff understood our mum's needs and treated her beautifully.

My parents have just returned home after a two week respite stay at Lonsdale Mews. They have absolutely loved their stay and have come home reinvigorated.
From my first contact with the home, I have been impressed with the care and compassion shown to residents and also to family members.

I wouldn't hesitate to book them in again, the staff have been amazing and the Lonsdale Mews really is a home.

My father had a shorter than expected stay at Lonsdale Mews after losing his battle with terminal cancer. We had to make the very difficult decision to put him in a care home so he could receive the professional care we could no longer provide for him at home. We were so fortunate to have this wonderful facility on our doorstep where we could easily visit dad and build up relationships with the staff. This is the homes greatest asset. The caring, professional and dedicated staff who from the moment I first picked up the phone to the end of life care could not have been more understanding. There were open lines of communication and our wishes were listened to and acted upon. I cannot thank everyone in the team enough, for all they have done for us as a family.

My dear Dad, aged 91, came to Lonsdale Mews in September 21 originally for respite but loved it so much that decided after the first week, that he very much wanted to stay, to which our family agreed. He had struggled in his own house for his final year, even with an excellent Live-in Carer, due to increasing dementia and mobility problems. He evidently found it a huge relief to be living in a home where his every need was catered for. Things he particularly valued were the delicious food and the social interaction - the excellent care staff and management all showed him genuine kindness, making him feel valued again.

Sadly his health deteriorated in November, due to his Alzheimers and he died after a short illness. However, the staff made every possible effort to make his passing as easy as possible for him and our family, even providing meals for us all and a bed for two nights in the room next door to his, for his granddaughter who had travelled 200 miles.

I first visited Lonsdale with my dear dad just before it opened - we were looking for a special home for both mum who has dementia and dad. Dad was very particular and was immediately impressed with the professionalism and welcome we received from the Customer Relations Manager. Sadly dad passed away earlier this year and mum's dementia has gradually got worse.

Mum has had 3 respite stays at Lonsdale the latest in December when she stayed for 3 weeks. This latest respite has been particularly wonderful - mum felt she was coming home and had such a warm welcome - which immediately put my sister and I at ease - it is so hard to have to make the decision to put your beloved parents into care. Mum has really enjoyed herself - she took part in numerous activities and having sung in choirs for most of her life the carol practise was a real highlight for her. Mum has made friends and enjoyed the first trip out in the new Lonsdale minibus. Mum commented on how lovely and kind all her carers were -Thank you all at Lonsdale!

It is never an easy decision to look at alternatives for a parent, especially when your mum is incredibly proud and independent like my mum is. We needed a period of respite care and so we looked extensively at all the options, including all the local care homes and having live in carers. As mum has dementia, we thought it would be better for her own wellbeing to have lots of different people to talk to and the mental stimulation of various activities. When we visited Lonsdale Mews, we immediately knew that there was only going to be a choice of just one. It wasn't just the layout, the wonderful food, and homely feel of the rooms that made the decision easy for us, it was the friendliness, the warm welcome, and the genuine care and understanding of all the staff. Everyone was simply amazing, patient, compassionate, and always with a huge smile. I would not hesitate to recommend Lonsdale and, most importantly, mum loved her stay. Thank you to each and every one of the team.

My father has Alzheimer’s and he moved to Lonsdale Mews at the end of July 2021. I have been really impressed so far. There seem to be three members of staff who look after my dad. They have all gone that extra mile to help him settle in. When there have been medical issues with my dad, experts have been called in quickly to resolve the problem. I recently went to an event and the thing that impressed me the most was that all the staff were welcoming and some had even come into work on their day off. The thing I liked the best was that they all seemed to like each other and the residents.

Lonsdale Mews is a very well designed, beautifully furnished and comfortable home with lovely gardens, but it’s the people that make it such a welcoming and caring place. From our initial enquiry in May about a place for our mum, everyone has been so understanding, patient and helpful, managing Mum’s move quickly and with great kindness and consideration.
Every single member of staff we have met is cheerful and welcoming, nothing ever seems too much trouble, despite Covid restrictions every visit is well managed and relaxed and there seems no end to the creativity and inventiveness of the staff in organising activities and events. Independently of the family’s experience as visitors, Mum tells us that the staff, and the food, are wonderful.

To celebrate Mum’s birthday the staff went more than the extra mile, giving the family a wonderful time with mum with decorations, lunch, a fabulous birthday cake - and a ‘Birthday Girl’ rosette for her as well!!

I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse and was a Dementia and Safeguarding Lead in a nursing home before I joined the Lonsdale Mews team. As a brand new home, Lonsdale Mews looked like an incredible place to work, and it offered exciting new opportunities.

Working with older people is incredibly rewarding, and my favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and their families, getting to know them. We’re a big home team, so it’s good to take time to get to know colleagues better, too.

While being adept at all things care-related is vital in this role, it’s also important to have strong communication and people skills. What we do is all about people, so I always aim to be approachable, open and fair.

When I’m not at work I enjoy going to music concerts and the cinema. I also love my holidays!
