Oak Hall in Haslemere, Surrey, opened its doors to new residents in November 2018, following an extensive refurbishment. It offers luxurious surroundings for 55 residents, all of whom enjoy their own en-suite rooms. Some of the rooms can accommodate couples.

In keeping with other homes within the group, Oak Hall will deliver exceptional levels of care in convivial surroundings. Restaurant-style dining is a key feature, alongside a dedicated Health and wellness team who will be running a wide range of well being activities to keep residents active in mind body and soul.

Oak Hall will offer a range of care options: residential, convalescent, respite and specialist palliative care are all available, each with the aim of providing dignity and respect through programmes tailored to the needs of the individual.

Oak Hall lives up to its name with a large oak-panelled entrance hall; oak staircase and balustrading with many further oak features throughout the building. The original interiors of the principal rooms remain little altered: marquetry inlay to some floors, plastered ceilings, stone and marble fireplaces, marble floors, heraldic stained glass and tiled bathrooms.

My husband entered Oak Hall for two weeks of respite care. We were very pleased with every aspect of his stay. He naturally missed home but was extremely happy with his experiences. He came home in a better physical state than going in. We are grateful to all the staff for their care and profession.
They were delighted to deal with him and us. It's a lovely building in a gorgeous setting. Hopefully, we will be able to repeat it.

I can reiterate the positive comments made by others.
There is a good schedule of activities which energetic staff run and encourage participation, I feel my relative's communication and cognition have improved since they started living here eight months ago.
The food always looks good and the portion
sizes must be sufficient as one relative is gaining weight. They both say they enjoy the food and there are plenty of choices and a good balance on the main menu, with additional options available.
The room is lovely with a great view. The only negative is that when things need fixing it sometimes takes a bit longer than expected.
I have worked in the NHS for thirty years and my overall opinion is that the staff are genuinely very caring and attentive to my relative's needs. As a result, although it was a big upheaval for them, they say they are very happy to be at Oak Hall Care Home. Thank you for your care.

Oak Hall Care Home is always presented well and kept clean and tidy. The reception staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The staff/carers/nurses try and answer my questions and try to understand my worries and concerns. When they have time, they spend time listening and answering my questions.
The variety of carers can be tiring to me as I have to keep explaining my needs. The food is very good and the addition of a drinks machine is good for my visitors.

All staff always put the residents first and always listen and do their best under often difficult circumstances. Everyone is keen to offer the best service and when at times a different requirement is requested the staff work hard to implement it as soon as possible. The home works hard with its communication

My partner's father has been in Oak Hall for over 18 months. Apart from recovering from an original hip fracture hence his admission, but has also had a stroke a few months ago but has subsequently been nursed back to health. He has been cared for in a superb way and is so happy in his environment.
It's a relief to us all that his care has been so good and more importantly, he is so happy.

My mum has been a resident at Oak Hall for five months following a serious stroke in May. She requires high-need nursing care and support. The care team are friendly, respectful and empathetic, and the admin staff are always very helpful. Mum has now settled in and enjoys the many varied activities
provided by the excellent wellness team.
Oak Hall has a welcoming feel, and the facilities and grounds are lovely.

My sister lacks the ability to speak or call help, so is very vulnerable. However, she is regularly checked and kinds care assistants feed her with practice. Her drug regime is checked and if I call help, for example, to change her incontinence pads, it swiftly arrives. The room is well equipped with
a special bed to change her position. The food is appropriate to her needs. One gets the impression that the care team and manager do care for their residents. As with any care home they are often short of permanent staff, but the agency workers are polite and cheery.

I would sincerely like to thank all the staff at Oak Hall Care Home for the care my mother received during her stay there. Many individuals went above and beyond the scope of their normal duties in order to meet Mum's needs and their caring and friendly approach is much appreciated. Nothing was too
much trouble and I know she cherishes the friendships she has made during her stay.

My mother was placed at Oak Hall from Royal Surrey Hospital.
The staff were fantastic, kind thoughtful and discrete.
We knew her stay would not be a long one but they gave us space and privacy, allowing us to remain with her overnight, this was of great comfort to the family and mother.
Really cannot
recommend highly enough.
Not all stars were applicable to our case so have marked those as a 3, this is no disrepect to the care home but simply not relevant to our particular case.

My mother was placed at Oak Hall in Haslemere after being discharged from the hospital by the social services team as part of the A2D NHS scheme. Oak Hall is a converted girl's school with long corridors and is set over 3 floors. We had no choice in the placement as it was being funded by the NHS. Unfortunately,
this home is not a specialist centre for those with dementia and as my mother has this condition, it makes it difficult to navigate this vast space as it is confusing, so for that reason alone I would not recommend it. The food though presentable is served by staff that are not aware of what they are serving and on one occasion my mother who is a vegetarian was served chicken. On leaving the home, 'Oak Hall' failed to give me her medication and I had to make another trip to collect part of the prescription as apparently, they had run out of two of the drugs. Now neither did they tell me of this nor did they offer to correct the mistake requesting that I correct their mistake. Poor!

Oak Hall is a large country house, beautifully refurbished and extended to provide a purpose built care home for its residents, some of whom live with dementia. Your mother informed us during her stay that she liked a variety of foods, including fish and white meat. Our menu for the day your mother chose the chicken dish also offered a vegetarian and fish option. Your mother heard all the options and chose the chicken dish. With regards to medications, I confirm that all medications on your mother’s current prescription were given to you on the day your mother left. All medication on your mother’s next prescription was due to be delivered to Oak Hall the following day, this was immediately notified to you and duly collected. It can be difficult for families when hospital placements are made without being given the choice, however, we very much enjoyed meeting and caring for your mother and hope she remains as happy in her new home as she was when she was living with us.

The staff at Oak Hall Care Home are always friendly, caring and diligent. The ladies on reception and in the office, have been there from the beginning and give a lovely personal touch. It feels like a real home and my mum is very happy there. If I have any issues, I know I can always talk to the staff.
The bistro is very sociable, so even when my mum isn’t able to come out, we can sit and have lunch there, and she can invite friends for lunch. The bistro attracts the younger, more able residents of the apartments, giving a younger energy to the home. Oak Hall is in a beautiful setting and residents can sit outside if the weather is kind.

Oak Hall Care Home is a lovely care home. The rooms are comfortable and residents are able to bring their own furniture to make them homely. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent with a lovely bistro for residents and family to come and visit.

I have recently started visiting a resident at Oak Hall and have found the staff very helpful and obliging. I do my dear friend's hair when I go to Oak Hall Care Home and require a wheelchair and my friend to be hoisted but it was no trouble for the staff to do this for my visit.
My friend was very
reluctant to go into a care home but has seemed to have settled and really enjoys the food at Oak Hall.

Jane

Jane McAuley

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2021

Jane is a qualified nurse holding both RNHM and RGN qualifications. She has worked in private houses, care homes and hospitals where she spent some time working in theatres.
Jane joined the Manor Life team at Oak Hall in April 2021.
She has a wealth of experience in managing care homes especially in helping care homes achieve good CQC ratings.

Dawn

Dawn Critchell

Job Title: Front of House Manager Joined: 2018

Dawn has worked at Oak Hall since July 2018 when it first opened as a Care Home. Dawn deals with all incoming enquiries for the home ensuring a high standard of communication is maintained.


Dawn started her career in the care industry as a Health Care Assistant and fell in love with the industry. Dawn decided to grow her knowledge of the industry and due to family commitments moved into the administration and front of house side of the business.


Since being at Oak Hall Dawn has become an integral part of the team.

Rosemarie

Rosemarie Williamson

Job Title: Senior Nurse Joined: 2021

Rosemarie has worked here at Oak Hall since June 2021 as an RN. Rosemarie was appointed Senior Nurse in November 2022.


Rosemarie trained in Jamaica and qualified as an RN in 1994, as a Midwife in 1998 and as a Public Health Nurse in 2008.


Rosemarie migrated to the UK from Jamaica in 2016, and once here obtained a HABC Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care in 2018. She has been working in the care home setting since then.

After starting his career 29 years ago at The Grand in Brighton, Matt has joined our team here at Oak Hall.

Sarah

Sarah McCallum

Job Title: Well-being Manager Joined: 2022

Hi, I'm Sarah and I joined the Oak Hall team in August 2022. I have recently completed a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology at Winchester University and have always wanted to work within the care sector and I really enjoy my role. Previously I have worked in both the catering and education sectors and also spent several years serving in the RAF as an engineer for search and rescue helicopters.

Gabby Marginean

Hi, my name is Gabby and I am a senior nurse here at Oak Hall. I joined the team in 2022 after previously nursing at Holy Cross Hospital. I am from Romania and qualified as a RGN in 2017. I like yoga, running and reading, mostly psychology books.

Ramona

Ramona Melinte

Job Title: RGN Joined: 2021

Hi, I'm Ramona and I am part of the nursing team here at Oak Hall. I moved here from Romania in 2016. I've been a carer since that time, moving up to lead carer and finally qualifying as an RGN in 2020. I joined the team here in December 2021.


My hobbies include gardening, movies cinema and shopping as well as spending time with my lovely husband and two wonderful sons.

Shirley

Shirley Smithers

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2021

Shirley joined Oak Hall in April 2021. Shirley has worked in care for all of her life. Having started her career with King Edward VII and worked there for 30+ years. Shirley then went to Holy Cross Hospital where she completed my NVQ level 2 in housekeeping. Shirley then moved to Moorlands Care Home and completed my NVQ level 2 in Dementia. In my spare time Shirley likes to walk my dog, Jasper and spend time in the garden, but most of all spending time with her 3 boys.

Hi, I'm Abin and I am one of the team leaders on the care team. I have a masters in Data Science and have been a carer for 3 years.

Carol

Carol Falconitin

Job Title: Senior Health Care Assistant Joined: 2021

Hi, I'm Carol and I was born in the Philippines. I moved to the UK and became a citizen in 2005, became qualified in care in 2009 and joined the Oak Hall team in 2021. Before that, I graduated with a degree in Airline & Airport Management and worked at Gatwick Airport as a PSA.
