This home is a breath of fresh air. Offered tea on arrival, every staff member so far is friendly and food on another level! Setting superb. My gran died last year after 2 years in another home, this is day and night compared to there.

A complete pleasure to visit the home. All staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The care and attention given to my mother-in-law is superb and given her a new lease of life. Although she doesn't get many visitors, she is encouraged to mix and make friends with other residents and I always leave her in a very cheerful state of mind. Her personal tragedy of losing a 2nd daughter in the last couple of years was handled with great skill and the benefits of this are still apparent, improving every month. Thank you Penhurst, you've taken a great weight off my mind!

Penhurst Gardens is a wonderful, safe, clean and welcoming home. My mother has been resident for nearly four years and during that time has received excellent care. The home is well maintained and with the new manager superbly run.
The staff are very professional and diligent and treat my mother with the utmost care and dignity, but above all with loads of love!

As a dementia patient that is what she responds best to and at Penhurst Gardens she receives love and care in abundance.

Overall Experience

I found myself in the very unexpected and upsetting position of having to find a care home for my lovely 67 year old husband who unfortunately has been diagnosed with two sorts of dementia. I looked at a number of care facilities which were excellent in their own way but it wasn't until I visited Penhurst Gardens Care Home that I knew the type of home that I had been seeking for my husband existed. As we drove away that day I knew that I needn't look further. From our first meeting to my husband moving into the home, everything has progressed far more smoothly than I had expected. Of course it's very early days in our experience but I have been very impressed with the care, understanding and genuine interest that every member of the team that I have encountered has shown.

My mother has received exemplary care.
All staff from managers to cleaners are polite, helpful and friendly.
Made us all feel welcome.
Mum loves the food and I've never seen her eat so well!
Mum was reluctant to ask for help/use call bell initially, but staff gently encouraged Mum to do so, so she has been.
Most importantly, Mum feels safe, happy and relaxed.

Haven't completed a rating for activities, as none attended. Thank you.

My mother received the warmest welcome from every single member of staff throughout. The admin staff were always on hand and extremely helpful with every single request. My mother felt tenderly cared for post-surgery and it was a joy to us to see her heal and thrive under the gentle care and support of all the staff. Wonderful clean, modern facilities and we'd recommend booking the formal dining experience.

Penhurst staff are caring and friendly people. It is important to understand that residents are individuals with their own specific needs and objectives, which seem to be part of the Penhurst culture, thank goodness.

Residents get bored, so popping in and chatting for five mins helps relieves the boredom.

The initial enquiry and first visit to Penhurst Gardens were warm and welcoming. All conversations were conducted sensitively and professionally, with every small detail taken into consideration. The respite care received took into account all of Dad's specific needs, and as visitors, we were shown the same kindness and respect as he was.

I have been associated with Penhurst Garden Care Home from shortly after it opened, first as someone who visited a close friend who was a resident there and subsequently as a volunteer. I have never had anything but the highest regard for the home. From the moment you arrive at reception, the atmosphere is welcoming. The residents are treated with compassion and dignity, the rooms and facilities are excellent and it is hard to find fault. It is a happy place to be. If the time comes when I require full times care I cannot think of anywhere I would prefer to be than Penhurst Gardens care Home.
