I arrived as a wreck, (no fault of the hospital) at Penhurst Gardens in January 2021. At the end of July I departed as a functioning citizen. My sojourn was a thoroughly happy one and it was pleasant to make some new friends. conversations here were always therapeutic.

I have been associated with Penhurst Garden Care Home from shortly after it opened, first as someone who visited a close friend who was a resident there and subsequently as a volunteer. I have never had anything but the highest regard for the home. From the moment you arrive at reception, the atmosphere is welcoming. The residents are treated with compassion and dignity, the rooms and facilities are excellent and it is hard to find fault. It is a happy place to be. If the time comes when I require full times care I cannot think of anywhere I would prefer to be than Penhurst Gardens care Home.

It has been such a comfort to be here as we are so cared for and I am not losing my husband, like whenever we used to go out. He is very settled here as long as he sees me.

There were a number of complicating factors as my mother had to be brought from a hospital 150 miles away. Mum was assessed before having a 2.5 week respite care whilst my husband and I went on holiday. Without a doubt, we had a very much needed restful and relaxing holiday, knowing that Mum was safe in Penhurst Gardens.
When I went to pick Mum up from the stay, she was happy to see me and seemed to have had a good time - the staff were very complimentary and said they would miss her.
I think that the stay was important for us to have a break. Mum has come back home and is talking a bit clearer than when she went in which is good.
The staff at Penhurst Gardens were very caring with Mum.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, it really was a pleasure to look after your mum and we miss her dearly. You are both welcome to visit us any time and join in our entertainment.

The leisure and wellness staff have been great, providing varied and stimulating activities for residents while also ensuring relatives are kept in touch. I was worried about how my father would settle in, but thanks to Penhurst staff, he has rapidly made friends, enjoys all the sociable activities and the excellent meals and feels very at home. Highly recommended.
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review and for your wonderful comments, I will be sure to share this with the team. The staff are immensely kind and helpful and have been very willing to accommodate my father's needs. I have only recently been able to visit him so cannot easily review the facilities but I have been reassured all along that he was safe and treated with respect during lockdown.

I have worked within the care sector for many years, and supporting and enhancing people’s lives has always been my vocation. I am passionate about making a positive difference, whatever that may look like for each person.
Throughout my career, I have enjoyed a wide range of roles across different care settings and have worked across the country. These experiences have allowed me to continually develop my knowledge, skills and understanding of best practice within health and social care.
What I value most about my role is the opportunity to meet new people and the variety that each day brings. I find great satisfaction in building meaningful relationships and adapting my approach to meet individual needs whilst continuing to learn through Porthaven.
I hold a range of qualifications that support my practice, which include qualifications in administration, business, a Registered Managers Award, a Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. These, combined with my experience, enable me to work in a professional yet personable manner, always placing the individual at the heart of what I do.
