It was a very difficult decision to move my mum to a nursing home, but I couldn't have chosen a better place for her to be. All the staff have been so kind and considerate to my and my mum's needs. I am reassured that she is safe and well cared for. There are regular activities and lots of stimulation on Mum's arrival; the whole team provided a comprehensive meet and greet, so she felt very welcome.

I have a very reassuring experience in arranging the transfer of my mother to Penhurst Gardens Care Home. There were a number of complicating factors as my mother had to be brought from a hospital 150 miles away. Penhurst were very clear, flexible and supportive and made what was an emotionally intense set of decisions far easier and less stressful. Her arrival at the care home could have not been better.

I write this review because I know how impossibly hard and upsetting it can be to see your loved one living somewhere other than the home they have known. I want to assure and re-assure potential new residents and their family members of the solid and kindest care they will receive at Penhurst Care Home at Chipping Norton. The Home's Manager is the very kindest lady - the team and residents and their families are most fortunate.

Mum was warmly welcomed back to Penhurst Gardens (for the 3rd time) for respite care after a hip operation. She has a very pleasant room overlooking the enclosed patio area, the food has been good and she has joined in with a number of various activities on offer. The caring staff have encouraged Mum to get back onto her feet and gain confidence walking again.

It was lovely to deal with the member of staff from start to finish with Mum when we first met her. Penhurst Gardens is a lovely care home, beautifully decorated and Mum was given a gorgeous room, overlooking the courtyard - this was considered as they knew Mum loves her garden and they put a lovely vase of flowers in her room on arrival. These points very, very much appreciated.
Mum was assessed before having a 2.5 week respite care whilst my husband and I went on holiday. Without a doubt, we had a very much needed restful and relaxing holiday, knowing that Mum was safe in Penhurst Gardens.
When I went to pick Mum up from the stay, she was happy to see me and seemed to have had a good time - the staff were very complimentary and said they would miss her.
I think that the stay was important for us to have a break. Mum has come back home and is talking a bit clearer than when she went in which is good.

The staff at Penhurst Gardens were very caring with Mum.

My wife was taken into care with advanced stage of Alzheimer's. Whilst in the care of Penhurst Gardens Care Home she received exceptional care, love, compassion and attention. This care home is the best I have ever experienced and is comparable to a 5-star hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making her end of life such a loving and compassionate time.

I've been very impressed by the care, kindness and flexibility of the staff at Penhurst Gardens Care Home. Penhurst has a wonderful, friendly atmosphere and a welcoming layout. The leisure and wellness staff have been great, providing varied and stimulating activities for residents while also ensuring relatives are kept in touch. I was worried about how my father would settle in, but thanks to Penhurst staff, he has rapidly made friends, enjoys all the sociable activities and the excellent meals and feels very at home. Highly recommended.

My husband moved into Penhurst Gardens in August 2020. Because of Covid restrictions, I have really been unable to see Penhurst Gardens in operations. Without expectation, I have been impressed with all staff members. My husband is usually very content and that is all I can hope and wish for. He is unable to communicate verbally.

A very good home, but a few areas seemed to have slipped during Covid-19. Lack of suitable activities for male residents has resulted in some very bored residents. It has been helpful to continue weekly visits but look forward to more open visiting and outings for residents. It would be helpful to have more feedback as to what is happening inside the care home. A monthly newssheet from the manager - I feel very left out of anything going on in the care home.

Having tried to keep my mother in her own home with live-in carers, we moved her here in February with a slightly heavy heart. It has turned out to be a good move all round.
Penhurst is a first-rate facility in terms of hard product: nice rooms and a very nice feel; easy parking and a nice garden.
Soft product in terms of food, resident engagement and activities seem to be equally good.
Staff are exceptional - without exception. They are engaging and kind and have done an amazing job during the COVID situation. We see the same team (ie no great turnover) and they all know all their residents and their families. Impressive.

My mother is safe, physically well, and has more people contact and activity than she would have at home.

We are absolutely delighted with the fantastic care and kindness Dad is shown by all staff. It has given us peace of mind and reassurance to see Dad happy, safe and so well looked after, especially during these difficult times of lockdown when family cannot visit.
Every member of staff with whom we have been in contact have been genuinely lovely people who are excellent professionals with a passion for their job. The management are highly supportive, empathic, helpful, pro-active and cheerful!
Management and staff are very approachable. We feel confident in seeking advice, guidance, or information. Staff listen to our concerns and questions. They are responsive and solution-focused. Importantly, they always have my dad's interests and physical and mental well-being at heart.
Communication is excellent. We are kept well informed.
We are impressed with the high-quality environment and menus - more like a hotel than a care home!

Penhurst Gardens has proved an excellent choice for Dad and for us.
