Penhurst Gardens Care Home is located in the heart of the Cotswolds in Chipping Norton. The home is surrounded by countryside and is just a short walk from the local high street, set on the site of the former Penhurst School. Penhurst Gardens Care Home opened in December 2016 and provides round-the-clock residential, nursing, dementia and respite care for older people in spacious and elegant surroundings. A café, private dining room, cinema and activities and wellbeing room are extra thoughtful features that make Penhurst Gardens particularly special and bring a real sense of community into the home. Every resident at Penhurst Gardens also has their own bedroom with an en suite wetroom, with many of their ground floor rooms having private patios and direct access to the home's secure landscaped garden.

Porthaven meticulously select their staff and choose only the most dedicated, passionate and experienced staff to ensure their residents are expertly and empathetically cared for. Having tried to keep my mother in her own home with live-in carers, we moved her here in February with a slightly heavy heart. It has turned out to be a good move all round.
Penhurst is a first-rate facility in terms of hard product: nice rooms and a very nice feel; easy parking and a nice garden.
Soft
product in terms of food, resident engagement and activities seem to be equally good.
Staff are exceptional - without exception. They are engaging and kind and have done an amazing job during the COVID situation. We see the same team (ie no great turnover) and they all know all their residents and their families. Impressive.
My mother is safe, physically well, and has more people contact and activity than she would have at home.

We are absolutely delighted with the fantastic care and kindness Dad is shown by all staff. It has given us peace of mind and reassurance to see Dad happy, safe and so well looked after, especially during these difficult times of lockdown when family cannot visit.
Every member of staff with whom we
have been in contact have been genuinely lovely people who are excellent professionals with a passion for their job. The management are highly supportive, empathic, helpful, pro-active and cheerful!
Management and staff are very approachable. We feel confident in seeking advice, guidance, or information. Staff listen to our concerns and questions. They are responsive and solution-focused. Importantly, they always have my dad's interests and physical and mental well-being at heart.
Communication is excellent. We are kept well informed.
We are impressed with the high-quality environment and menus - more like a hotel than a care home!
Penhurst Gardens has proved an excellent choice for Dad and for us.

I have been involved with Penhurst for two years. At first when I arranged for my partner to have end of life care. Everything at that time was excellent and I was cared for by the staff with compassion and support. I now visit a friend who has been a resident for more than a year.

Beyond all expectations. Mum was so happy here, beautifully cared for with love humour and offer professionalism, everybody makes it feel like a big happy family. When she died peacefully at the end, the care my sister, brother and I received made such a tough time much easier and more bearable.

Porthaven has a wonderful atmosphere.
It's very welcoming, friendly, happy.
Staff always seem to have time to spend with residents and all staff know all residents very well.
The activity program is fantastic.

My parents have been residents at this care home for three months. The care they receive is excellent in every aspect and all the staff have been courteous and sympathetic towards my parent's needs and ensuring they settled into their new environment quickly. The home ensures that staff are trained
to deal effectively with residents who have dementia and treat them respectfully and with dignity, The food is amazing, varied and colourful. There are activities to suit all tastes and relatives are kept well informed via regular newsletters.

Hello, my name is Lynne Elliott, and I have been a part of the Penhurst Gardens team since 2024.


I have worked within the care sector for many years, and supporting and enhancing people’s lives has always been my vocation. I am passionate about making a positive difference, whatever that may look like for each person.


Throughout my career, I have enjoyed a wide range of roles across different care settings and have worked across the country. These experiences have allowed me to continually develop my knowledge, skills and understanding of best practice within health and social care.


What I value most about my role is the opportunity to meet new people and the variety that each day brings. I find great satisfaction in building meaningful relationships and adapting my approach to meet individual needs whilst continuing to learn through Porthaven.


I hold a range of qualifications that support my practice, which include qualifications in administration, business, a Registered Managers Award, a Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. These, combined with my experience, enable me to work in a professional yet personable manner, always placing the individual at the heart of what I do.

As a team, we strive to deliver excellent person-centred care to all of our residents. We work hard to enrich their lives and create an environment where our residents feel safe and secure.


Outside of work, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. We love to travel, discover new cultures and try new cuisines!

Hello, my name is Ivo, and I am the Head Chef here at Penhurst Gardens.


Inspired by a love of cooking that was passed down from my grandmother, I began my culinary career in Bulgaria in 1991. Since then, I have worked as a chef on a cruise liner, at the Ritz Private Club, and I have continued my journey in the UK over the past 23 years.


Since joining Porthaven in November 2020, I have thoroughly enjoyed creating fresh, nutritious dishes for our residents, always focusing on flavour, presentation and ensuring every meal is truly enjoyable.

As the night manager, I oversee our night team and nightly activities, as well as assisting and encouraging our residents in maintaining their nightly routines, supporting independence as much as possible.
