Penhurst Gardens have always looked nice and smelled nice - clean and fresh. My brother-in-law needs constant care and is never left alone for long. His room is always immaculate and his bed comfortable and sweet smelling, despite his double incontinence. The staff are very caring and kind.

As the niece of a resident, I have been very impressed with the care provided. The staff made my aunt very welcome and she has settled well. There is always somebody available to speak to about any concerns.
Food is also excellent. As a family, we were pleased to be able to celebrate my aunt's birthday in the private dining room.

It would be helpful if there was a guest room on site. That is the only improvement that I can see.

I am very impressed by all I see at Penhurst relating, not only to my friend's Alzheimer's but to the care and attention given to the other residents. I visit her once or twice a week, usually afternoons, and as soon as I cross the threshold I sense the welcome for myself and the care for the residents which is very heartwarming. All your staff, and they are numerous, are unfailingly polite and thoughtful. The surroundings are delightful and there is a sense of calm in the sitting room. Congratulations on your achievement, it is remarkable.

I watched my wife struggle with making the decision to move her Mum into a home but Penhurst made this much easier. I have visited my Mum in Law several times and enjoyed the private dining facilities for a family meal, which was excellent value and so easy to organise. The staff have been so kind to both my Mum in Law and my wife. My Mum in law is much happier and calmer now that she is at Penhurst and my wife is also more relaxed and happy, no longer worried about her Mum.

Overall Experience
I thought the cost would be prohibitive but it has been 100% worth us finding a way. My Mum is brighter, stronger, more settled and looking so much better than she did when she arrived. My position as a daughter, rather than a pseudo carer, has returned. I look forward now to visiting Mum, as I'm greeted warmly by staff and nothing is too much trouble. There really is a family atmosphere and I know that my Mum is loved by the staff at Penhurst, even though she can be cantankerous! Nothing is too much trouble and the facilities are fabulous. Staff are warm and compassionate but Mum loves a little banter which is accommodated readily by staff with a laugh and a joke.

My Mum is now happier and as a result, my life has improved dramatically. I no longer worry about her falls, loneliness, eating properly or being clean and hygienic. Penhurst has got it all covered for me. They are worth every penny!

I was extremely impressed with every aspect of the home. The most important part being care of the service user which in my opinion, is second to none. Building, decor, gardens and aspect is very pleasing.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming making us feel very welcome and comfortable. Having been in administration in a nursing home for years, I was very impressed.

I have regularly visited a dear friend who has been a resident for a number of weeks. Penhurst Gardens is wonderful. It is a five-star hotel with wonderful facilities and staff who are so professional but they are also caring, not only for the residents, but their friends and family, as your own family would be. Nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely get right alongside the resident and their family. The home is full of love and joy. I would happily be there myself.

I was at Penhurst Gardens for two week's respite. I was very well looked after by all staff, nursing and domestic. My room was very comfortable. The food was good but I felt it was not always suitable for older people who do not have big appetites! I would be very happy to return to Penhurst in future!

I stayed in the Care Home following an operation on my ankle which left me on crutches and unable to look after myself. My room was very comfortable and well fitted out, the bathroom had a shower in a wet room environment which was excellent although not for my condition. Cleaning was carried out efficiently.

The staff were very enthusiastic, friendly and always appeared with a smile. The call bell was answered promptly and no request was too much trouble. They recognised my different situation and were prepared to spend a little time talking to me.

The dining room was very attractive and the food well prepared and varied although, understandably, rather plain. Some dishes which I thought sounded unattractive turned out to be quite the opposite.

Because I was only there for respite care I did not join in any of the activities.

Everything is new and is being maintained to a very high standard. It proved to be an excellent place to start my recovery.
