I was visiting my Aunt for a weekend and I have to say I am quite impressed with the level of care that the workers of this care home are doing their job.

They are converting this place as a real home for my Granny and that is quite important for me.

I am so grateful for how the staff have looked after my mum, I know she is in good hands at the end of her life. I've also appreciated how great the staff have been to us and welcomed us as mums family. It feels a bit like a second home to us too, even after only 2 weeks! My daughter (2 years) love
coming to see Granny now as loves the home when she used to really not enjoy seeing Granny when she was in hospital. Thank you for all you do.

This is a really good place for my sister with a lot of genuine care. The nurses come quickly when requested and they take the time to find out what the issue is instead of just assuming something. They also try to find interesting things that my sister can relate to. They have allowed pictures on the
wall and outside the door. It feels like home.

“Penhurst Gardens continues to exceed my expectations.
My father-in-law has been living there for 10 months and the care and living standard he receives is absolutely the best. When facing the reality that he needed to live in a care home, we were not prepared to compromise on the high standard he
would have chosen for himself. My father in law worked hard all his life to provide a comfortable home and excellent standard of living for his family and himself, so at this stage of his life, he deserves to still have that. Penhurst Gardens makes this possible. There, all his needs are met, from top quality professional nursing to totally dedicated carers, excellent dining, amazing activities and a beautifully furnished and maintained home, excellently run by a management team who understand that some elderly people want a superior standard of living within a care home. I would recommend Penhurst Gardens most highly”.

When we walked in through the front door we were met by a friendly young lady and immediately shown to the room where my father-in-law was. We were offered a drink as well. The staff members that we came in contact with were all very friendly and you could sense the warmth in each of them.
My father-in-law
looked very well and happy. This beautiful home has restored my faith in care homes given the negative press places get. What a beautiful, warm, caring environment! Bravo to the staff.

Our experience of Penhurst Gardens is of top quality care, great activities, excellent food, 5-star facilities and a hugely supportive team who perform their job with kindness, positivity and dedication, tailored to residents’ individual needs and interests. All staff go the extra mile in everything
they do. A few examples as space is limited here: My dad was recently in hospital and 3 of the carers even visited him in their own time. He loves DIY and now has a new friendship with the maintenance man, often having lunch together. An event was recently arranged with the RAF to present my dad and another resident with Veterans Badges for their National Service. The Private Dining Room means we regularly celebrate family occasions together in style. The professional expertise of the nurses and carers at Penhurst Gardens, coupled with such a positive and engaging environment created by the whole team, makes this a wonderful place for my father to live and for me and my family to visit him.

An amazing experience from entering to leaving.
The staff are extremely engaging, friendly, informative and helpful.
The surroundings are stunning and the facilities are superb.
There is nothing I could fault - the cleanliness of the home is outstanding - cannot fault one single thing.
The décor
is outstanding, more like a 5 star plus hotel, but feels you are with family.

Penhurst Gardens have always looked nice and smelled nice - clean and fresh. My brother-in-law needs constant care and is never left alone for long. His room is always immaculate and his bed comfortable and sweet smelling, despite his double incontinence. The staff are very caring and kind.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.702)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.702) out of 10 for Penhurst Gardens Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.702 for Penhurst Gardens Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (227 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 305 Ratings = 4.702
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Penhurst Gardens Care Home is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
