Mum has been at Bridge Haven for 3 1/2 years now and although her dementia has deteriated over that time the care and professionalism of the staff has been very good. They are always smiling and happy to see me come in to visit. Although her dementia has stopped Mum from taking part in activities there
is so much going on around her. Feel happy in the knowledge that she is well looked after

My mum was moved into Chaucer House after 6 weeks in hosptial. Her dementia had deteriorated, and staff cared for her very well. I had made one complaint though when Mum had asked for to go to the toilet and I couldn't get staff to assist. My mum got very distressed when she soiled herself whilst eating
her dinner. I was very upset this happened, but my complaint was dealt with very swiftly, and apologies were made & said this would not happen again. Staff were at the time busy preparing lunches. Staff addressed me personally to apologise.

My father-in-law became a resident at Amherst Court in December 2024, and it has taken a while for him to settle in, but now he seems comfortable. Although his dementia means he doesn't remember any recent events, all of the staff I see during the day are very kind and patient with all residents/.
Most
days I see the menu board and there seems a good variety of food on offer.
The entertainment doesn't seem as active as it was a year ago.
The reception staff and admin are really friendly, and it is very welcoming when the staff know who you are visiting and your name.

Not enough staff, especially at weekends.
25th August my mother was not washed or dressed until 12:30.
26th August 16 residents to 3 members of staff. Unicorn unit is supposed to be "nursing unit" which requires 2 members of care staff to hoist every resident out of bed. My mother had to wait 1 1/1
hrs to get into her wheelchair.
Residents regularly call for help and are ignored. Expected to eat their meals in their own mess as the staff are too busy or on their break to change them, this can take up to 1 1/2 hrs.
None of this is the staff's fault, they love residents and want to do better for them, it's the total lack of resources. It's evident to the families that profit is more important than care.
Call buttons not working all weekend, maintenance not available to repair until monday morning.
Only one hoist working for 16 residents.
Rooms very depressing, needs to be redecorated and brighten up. Communal rooms look like a doctor's waiting room.
The chairs the residents have to sit in are extremely uncomfortable, I don't know how they spend all day in them, that's if they have enough staff to get them out of bed! No activities in the unit, just sat in front of TV all day.
A very kind member of staff has done a sponsored parachute jump to pay for the garden to be revamped, as it's so depressing, this should be paid for by you.

Overall the staff at the home are truly incredible and cannot do enough.
Sadly the management can make you feel uncomfortable by not speaking with you or interacting, particularly the home manager. Who this morning alone walks past and stares but doesn't say a word to me or my Mother as one of her
residents.
The operations manager is nice and will take time to meet with you to resolve concerns and support. The feedback isn't always great and the operations manager herself said six staff won't speak to you as they feel you can take their words wrong. This was on a period where I had to question some of the things happening within my mums care plan after two hospital admissions.
The care however is good overall and the general team are lovely, just a shame the manager doesn't make the effort to speak to residents as she walks past their rooms and their families.

We have been delighted with the level of care Mum has received over the past three years at Pilgrim's View and the cleanliness of her room and communal areas. The carers and support staff, have always been so efficient and have the utmost respect for their residents. Nothing has ever been too much trouble
and they have always had the time to spend with Mum. Whilst dementia has its effects over time, the carers accompany their residents on that journey with dignity, compassion and love. I highly recommend Pilgrim's View and all of it's staff.
