My father had two weeks of respite at Bridge Haven in July. He looked so well and was back to his old self when we collected him. He did so well there he is going to be a permanent resident soon

The care stuff that was on at 5.15 today 22/8/26 were absolutely lovely and kind . They always polite to us and my grandma and show her respect. They make her freshly cooked eggs. And always offer her a yogurt if she doesn't feel like eating.

It has been a bit challenging for Mum as this is a new experience for her, I'm hoping that, as time goes by she will settle in, the staff have been helpful in making it easier.

In a world that isn't always kind, Barnes Lodge consistently proves itself to be full of kindness. All the staff have shown my Nan kindness and care since she moved in and I have seen first hand the staff going above and beyond for her.

I have made several visits to this care home over the last 12 months. On each occasion i have found staff to be polite, kind and attentive. Rooms are clean and airy, and there is a pleasant outdoor area. However i cannot comment on every rating - (not known).

Staff are lovely & very attentive, sometimes it looks like staff are under pressure and need more carers to help, as Sometimes residents are very needy and take up all of there time, the carers are great and do their best all the time.

Food at the property is not aimed at elderly occupants. They like simple food - bangers + mash, pie + chips, etc. One day my aunt had a choice of sweet + sour pork or sweet + sour veg, both with rice. In my experience the elderly like plain food. There is no starters and a very limited choice of desserts. The food lets the care home down. The morning toast is cold and hard. I can't comment on the activities because my aunt hasn't taken part in anything. The one time I asked if the home had transport, i was told there was no driver, so do the residents go out anywhere? I've not seen a mini-van, so is there one? Staff are great, food is not.

My mum has been a resident for over a year and from the very first visits as respite she has been well looked after. All the staff are really friendly and many of them put in extra effort to make sure that my mum is as happy and relaxed as is possible. The staff at Amherst Court are its greatest asset. That includes every department not just the carers. Everyone says hello and smiles when I visit.

The care our father gets is excellent. Any issues, you always get a telephone call or email to keep you informed. The cleanliness of the home is superb, and the turnaround of all the laundry is very quick.

Very pleased and happy with Amherst Court. It's taken the resident a wee while to settle however we did expect this. Staff are so helpful, kind, caring and respectful. Showing concern for his welfare and with empathy. A sincere 'Thank You' to all staff, from reception cleaners, kitchen and ward staff.

It is not easy having to visit a parent in a home but this experience could really have been a lot worse, so thank you.

My father-in-law has been reluctant to move from his bed during the hot weather we have been experiencing, hence his food and liquid intake hasn't been good. We expressed concern to the senior on the ward, and later in the day, she emailed to say he had been encouraged out of bed and had eaten and drunk as well. We really appreciated her taking the time to do this as it eased our mind on his wellness. We appreciate all the staff do for him, not only on the ward but reception, admin, canteen, domestics and hairdressing.

Selecting a care home is a difficult decision and in Amherst, we feel that we have made an excellent choice. From the outset, the staff that we have met at all levels have displayed a professional and very welcoming attitude with a ready willingness to help in any way they can.
