Overall Experience

Mum has been a resident at Florence House since November 2025 and I am so pleased with her care. She is very well looked after and has settled in well. She looks bright and cheerful and clearly enjoys the food! Often, residents are taken out to local amenities and the garden there is mature and suitable for residents to enjoy. The staff are very friendly and attentive to both Mum and the family when we visit, which can be anytime - no appointments needed! I feel that Florence House is well led and managed and we have no concerns. Overall we are all very happy that we chose Florence House for Mum. Thank you!

Since Mum moved into The Laurels in June 2023, she's received exceptional care and made genuine friendships with carers and residents. Mum has dementia, so change can be frightening, but the home handles her unsettled moments brilliantly - her memory decline has definitely slowed since moving in.
She has a lovely relationship with carer Maggie, and each year they put on a special afternoon tea for her birthday with family and friends. Mum always praises the food too.
Staff communicate regularly with photos, and the few minor issues we've raised are always dealt with promptly - the home is proactive, not reactive. Staff turnover is virtually non-existent, which speaks volumes.
My sister and brother live locally for anything needing in-person attention, but even without that I'd trust the home completely. The setting is lovely, especially the garden and activities.

Care isn't fully council-funded, but it's reassuring to know she's so well looked after. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My Mum has been at Florence House for just over a year, her health has improved considerably due to the brilliant care given and being such a small home. Staff turnover is extremely low and there is always a friendly face at the door to welcome us and we really enjoy chatting to the staff and residents when we are there. I would recommend Florene House to everyone.

I was very apprehensive when Mum first moved into The Laurels. She had always been very independent, but because of her dementia it was no longer safe for her to live alone.
The first few days were difficult. Although we felt she was in the right place, Mum wasn't happy initially. However, within a week she had settled in well. She began helping out where she felt comfortable and gradually started to feel at home.
We moved in lots of her personal belongings to make her room feel familiar, and Yasmin was incredibly supportive throughout the transition. She took the time to reassure Mum and made the whole process much smoother for us as a family.
The staff are all amazing with Mum. They support her needs while encouraging her to remain as independent as possible. Over the past three years, I have noticed very little staff turnover, which says a great deal about both the management and the owner.

Whenever we've had any concerns, they have always been dealt with quickly and professionally.

Dad has had some low level health issues that have been dealt with with both professionalism and kindness. I am particularly grateful for this as his cognition is beginning to decline and he would not be able to proactively prioritise his health.

The care home has been fantastic for my father. He was struggling to live independently but was reluctant to let any of the family know due mainly to pride.
Once he got into the Laurels he has been a changed man for the better.
He has good relationships with both the staff and other residents within the home.
He thoroughly enjoys trips out & about.

I cannot thank the home enough.

My mother stayed at the care home. During her stay until her death she was looked after really well and cared for excellently by the staff. Our family were impressed by everyone who cared for her and we were kept up to date with everything. This is a lovely friendly environment and I would recommend this care home to anyone who is considering placing members of family who may need full time care

My mum moved into The Laurels after a fall which left my dad unable to cope with her needs. Staff and management at the home were fantastic at getting her moved in and settled very quickly. We are very grateful for the way you helped the family at a difficult time. We found everyone at The Laurels very friendly and professional. It was a shame that her stay was relatively short due to her changed needs after a hospital stay. Thank you for everything you did for Mum during her time with you.

I have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels.

From the moment we understood this was the way my mother in law was going, stressful hospital stay.
We call Yasamine at the Laurels ,she was so calm and understanding. We arranged a visit amongst 7 others but the Laurels stood head and shoulders above the rest.
The welcome was warm so we tried restbite initially.
Tbh as soon as we took June inside it was obviously the place for her, she just wanted to stay.
Present day shes coming up to her first year, still very happy ,content and relaxed.
The team of carers are amazing, they can't do any more for her, they've definitely put a smile back on her face.
She has flourished since moving in, long may it continue.
We are made so welcome on visits ,nothing is too much trouble even for us.

Cant recommend any higher, if its something you need then go for it

My relative has visited for respite stays on several occasions over the past three years.
From the very first interactions there was a friendly home from home feel. He is treated with warmth and care and we as family feel confident leaving him in their care.
We love seeing photos of what he is up to and hearing things he's said or done.

This last visit he went in hardly walking after a recent illness, two weeks later he's walking again. Great work from the team!

The Laurels is a very welcoming of comfortable care home. The carers are an excellent + treat the residents with the utmost respect + affection at all times. They are really caring + if any of the residents are unsure or worried about anything they will sit with them and talk to them to reassure that they are safe and well. When the 'sing a longs' get going it is lovely to see everybody singing along and enjoying themselves. I would recomend The Laurels to anyone. They put the word care in carers.

My dad has been in the Laurals Care home for 8 months. He was very apprehensive when he first became a resident, but quickly got into a routine and felt very happy with life. He fell ill late last year and the team/staff understood his needs and know exactly how to get him on the road to recovery. I can't thank the team enough for everything you do.

My brother has recently moved in to Florence House. He has continued to make good progress in his personal care which had not been the case before. The staff have been fantastic in seeing to his needs and taking him for walks in the nearby park. He is eating and sleeping well and enjoying the company of the other residents - he joins in their activities. Overall excellent care.

I gave a 5 star review for The Laurels whilst they were caring for my mum. This review concerns their end of life care. Mum has now passed away. I will be forever grateful for the love and care all the staff showed/gave to mum and the support given to me. Everyone there is so kind and it gave me great comfort to feel that mum was amongst friends during her final days. Huge thank you to you all

My aunt spent 2 weeks in Florence House for respite care. I was very pleased with the level of care she received whist there. The staff were extremely caring and compassionate, making her feel very welcome from the outset. The place is very clean and well maintained with a bright and airy feel about it. The large garden provides a good outdoor facility during nice weather. The food looked to be nutritious and well presented, and the residents seemed very happy. The rooms are exceptionally clean and homely, with plenty of space. The lounge and dining areas are also spacious and nicely decorated again giving a homely feel. Overall my aunt had a very positive stay and is looking forward to a return visit in September.
