Generally, a good experience. I have 2 hearing aids and have some difficulty understanding some of the carers who speak English with a strong accent. Excellent activities in clock lounge.

My wife was admitted to Hays House in mid February. She had dementia and was reasonably immobile. The staff made very welcome, fussed over her, within a couple of weeks she was laughing with them. They did her hair and makeup. She became very articulate and very happy to the day she died in April. I
cannot thank them enough for their kindness and compassion.

I can not recommend Colbury enough. The staff are so lovely and go out of their way to help and make my grandparents stay as comfortable as possible. The food is brilliant. It is always clean. There is always something going on. They make sure their patients are still treated like humans not just ill
people. The residence are always happy when you go in. Glowing reviews all round!

Excellent care for my mother, carers have got to know her and she loves talking to them. Suggestions for activities would be more craft things for Mum as she loves doing craft and painting, decorating biscuits or small cakes. Mum used to love baking.

It was my mom's birthday (5 October). We asked if they could put some tea and coffee in the little side room by Mom's room. Nothing was too much trouble, we had privacy and we bought cake which we left for the staff to have a piece. They asked if we needed anything else. They were very helpful to us
and to our mom. Thank you all.

My father in law was admitted to Hays House from hospital needing full nursing care and help. On arrival he hated the room he had been allocated and another room was immediately found with a beautiful view and on the ground floor. Sadly he was only a resident for two and half months as was expected
but I was so glad he was there, well cared for with respect and a genuine interest in helping him settle in and remain comfortable. I have to admit he was a character and maybe not always easy to look after but they accepted him and the staff and management were very caring and supportive to both of us. I felt relieved he was in the best place for his needs and he said he felt safe and well cared for. Thank you to all the staff for their caring attitude. There was only one occasion when I felt a member of staff could have managed his needs better and I was able to discuss this with management and was confident the issue would be addressed to benefit all. The house is set in beautiful grounds.

The carers are incredibly kind and patient. They take the time to really learn what each resident needs in order to feel at home and truly nurtured. Residents are given a huge range of opportunities to fulfil their interests and hobbies. We have experienced other care settings and this team really are
in a league of their own. We are truly thankful to all at The Mellowes.

My late wife was a nursing care resident at The Mellowes from January 2023 until she passed away in July 2024. At the time she was admitted following hospital discharge, she was quite poorly and weak and not expected to live very long. She was totally immobile and incontinent having been increasingly
ill for a number of years, From the time she arrived until the time of her passing she was afforded efficient and loving care and attention at all times by all grades of staff. In liaison with local NHS healthcare staff, my wife received treatment making her ever more comfortable and feeling welcome and at home in The Mellowes. I know she enjoyed all the care she was given and nothing was too much trouble.
The staff and management at The Mellowes also welcomed my family, friends and me whenever we visited or made enquiries about my wife. I can only thank them for everything they did for her over the one-and-a-half years she was in their care. Thank you so much!

My experience of The Mellowes Care Home was very good. Care for my father was very good, staff helpful, friendly, kind and considerate. My mother who has dementia visited my father every day. She either sat in his room with him or joined in with any activities and the staff were considerate in including
her. Food was lovely, room kept clean and my father's personal hygiene was well taken care of. Office and reception staff were friendly and helpful at all times.
My parents thoroughly enjoyed the pub night with singers for entertainment.

The staff and carers were all very kind to my dad and always kept him clean and tidy. Both my sister and I knew he was always being cared for.
My only negative is - I received the questionnaire with a letter, and on the letter they used a lady's and not my dad's! That is actually awful when you are
grieving, no attention to detail.

The Staff at Colbury House have been supportive during a difficult time moving my Grandmother into Colbury House. The home is clean and they are very organised with medicine rounds and other routines. My grandmother likes the food and this has been a good aspect. The staff are also very accommodating
and have taken her to medical appointments to help us. They also have a great entertainment schedule for the residents. I would recommend Colbury House.

My mum has dementia and has been very happy since she moved into Colbury House last year.
She settled very quickly and got on well with all of the staff.
The home has two fantastic activities staff and they organise lots of things for the residents to do, mostly in the home, but sometimes taking them
out in the minibus.
We are kept informed if there are any issues, such as mum being ill and we feel happy that mum is safe and being well looked after.

My dad has been living at Colbury House for about 4 months now. He has Parkinson's and dementia. I did lots of research of care homes in Hampshire and made a shortlist for us to visit. I liked that my dad was the customer (rather than me) when we visited.
It was important to my dad that he was able
to get outdoors (some places have beautiful grounds but residents with dementia don't tend to be allowed outside much due to staffing). My dad communicated this to the staff member we met and they assured him this would be possible. They kept their word! After a few weeks, they accompanied Dad on daily trips outside. They have since assessed him and he is now out daily by himself. Because he feels safe and staff communicate with him, he seems contented within the grounds.
It did take about 4 weeks for Dad to settle. A few months on, I receive calls when anything occurs (I've stopped phoning to see how things are going). Staff are warm/established/caring. Great entertainment. Long may it continue.
