Review of Florence Shipley Residential & Community Care Centre from Samantha P (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 November 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We are so happy with the quality of care for our father, from the carers through to seniors, deputy managers and manager. Everybody always has time to listen, to make sure Dad has the care that is right for him and, as we see first hand, for each individual and personalised to them.
I would love to name specific carers and seniors particularly as there are so many who really do deserve a shout out but this is not allowed and genuinely there are too many to name. From Dad's first visit as a respite resident the senior for this floor (now a deputy) made sure she got to know dad, his likes, dislikes, his history and this allowed the carers to do the same. This was shared with an equally wonderful senior on the full-time resident floor both of whom are still extremely influential in Dad's care, diet management and well-being.

We have been supported more as a whole family than we ever thought possible. We could not recommend this home more. Everyone actually cares!

Review of Oakland Village & Community Care Centre from Lauren C (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 25 August 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My nana has now been at Oakland’s a couple of months. She started as a respite resident and was lucky enough to get a permanent place.
My nana was reluctant to go into a home, but is so happy at Oakland’s. Much happier than when she was at home. She praises the staff, the food and has made friends.
My nana always looks immaculate, and the staff are always so friendly.

I highly recommend this home.

Review of Oakland Village & Community Care Centre from BarbaraC (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 31 December 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mom-in-law has just passed away in Oaklands after living there as one of the first residents in the beautiful apartments and then when her Alzheimer’s became too difficult for us to manage, she became a resident in the care facility.
We have to thank all the staff in all areas for the care and love they have shown to my mom-in-law since she moved in but especially for the care and absolute devotion all the staff have shown in her last months here up until her death on the 11th December 2019. Mom reached the fantastic age of 102 on the 24th November due, in part, to the dedication of all the staff.

We also have to thank them for their care and sympathy on her last days to my husband and I. We could not have asked for more help in our grief than the staff have given us and our family. To be honest, the adjectives wonderful, marvellous, devoted, caring etc are not good enough for them and we have no words to express our gratitude for the way they have looked after Mom. Thank you all.

Review of Meadow View Residential & Community Care Centre from Ellen R (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 October 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My 86 year old Mum spent several weeks here for rehabilitation following surgery to her hip. The facilities are excellent and everywhere is immaculately clean. Whenever we visited there were always carers in the lounge interacting with the residents. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable. This centre is a benchmark for how care homes should be. My Mum thrived here.

Review of Oakland Village & Community Care Centre from Susan L (Daughter of Resident) published on 22 January 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This was our first visit to Oakland and the staff were amazing - many going out of their way to help us to help my mother who has recently been diagnosed with combination dementia.

I would like to personally thank the Estate Manager who went out of his way to show us around the facility and the receptionist who was amazingly kind and helpful.

My parents live nearby but had never had the courage to walk into the village. The experience they had with the kindness and attention to detail shown by ALL the staff but particularly the estate manager and receptionist which has encouraged them to come again - thank you.
