We would like to congratulate all the staff and carers at Kimberley Care Village which presents a caring and happy atmosphere. They all work extremely hard to look after and care for the residents. They also give care and attention to the family.
However, there appears to be a shortage of carers as often the staff are rushed off their feet even though they never grumble and plod on.
The new kitchen and dining room has greatly improved. The cooks do a great job and the food has been improved and enjoyed.
Entertainment could be improved and motivated eg when the line dancers come monthly, they sing and dance and encourage the residents to clap and sing and join in the fun. This needs to be done more often.
Some of the residents do not receive visitors, could volunteers be prepared to visit and talk to them?
XMAS DAY - We stayed with our family for a few hours and the staff were excellent and the food looked delicious. The staff worked hard to make sure everyone had everything they needed. I did notice however that there were no special clothes, crackers or cold drinks but then again it all went well with the carers working very hard. No entertainment afterwards.
XMAS PARTY - The singer was good but left after half an hour. The carers children enjoyed Father Christmas but shame there was no games or sing-song for the residents. Then again, the carers were working hard to entertain everyone. No tea or minced pies available.
The first-floor corridor has only one bathroom/toilet but not available for visitors! The carpets need refurbishing both corridors and rooms. The lounge could be improved. No seat for visitors in the room as it is needed for hoist arrangements.
