My brother has Down Syndrome (with autism). He has been so content since moving to Wings Care! His depression has lifted and he is starting to thrive! All the staff are very patient with him and have a good understanding of his needs! Whenever we visit we are treated so positively and staff are always available for a chat! Thank you for all you do!
Wings staff give excellent care to my brother who suffers from a lifelong severe learning disability. They are attentive to both his complex needs and our concerns as family members. I always feel I’m working with the carers to provide the best possible experience for my brother. Thank you to all the dedicated staff!
Thanks.
Wings Care provides a safe place for its service users. Things that could be improved:- a cleaner employed to clean the bathrooms of the service users on a weekly basis - all the communal areas are very clean, but the individual bathrooms i.e. toilets and showers should be kept to a higher standard of hygiene, even if this is charged to the service user. More home-cooked food for family meals rather than takeaways.
Lovely place, all staff are excellent due to the care they give.
Great staff made my daughter very welcome. She soon settled in and loves the place and staff. It's great to find a place like this and I don't worry about her. She's in safe hands, and as a mother, I can't ask for anything more.
The management of Wings is excellent and management have been very supportive.
Our daughter has been at Cherry Cottage for four years and she has developed tremendously. She leads a full life with plenty of outdoor activities, bowling, cinema, lunches etc. The staff are wonderful. They treat her with the care and respect she needs. Now there are more activities on site i.e pool, jigsaws, books to look at, play games with other residents or staff and use the little coffee shop there. There is also a screen on the wall so they can watch films. We are very satisfied with Wings Care.
My daughter went to Wings at the beginning of June so although she’s only been there a month the good feeling I got from it when I first viewed it months prior to her transition has not changed. The staff are friendly and approachable. They make me feel welcome every time I visit my daughter and they have already got a clear picture of her needs. It is very hard as a mother to have to trust strangers with our children but I can honestly trust that she is being well looked after. My instincts tell me that by the way the staff are with her and also the way my daughter is with them - I often joke by saying can I move into the flat next door - but seriously my daughter is happy and settled in really well. I know she hasn't been there long but I have faith and hope that Wings can manage her long-term.
A severe lack of communication between staff, management and service users/family. No organised activities available for service users. No group activities or encouragement to mix and integrate with other service users. Very small and limited communal space means certain areas are occupied and become no-go areas for other service users. Maintenance issues are extremely slow to be resolved and to a very poor standard. Staff are cooking without adequate food handling or hygiene training. Support for service users is sporadic they are very often let down, misled or left on their own. No follow up from the manager when concerns and issues are raised. The same issues arise time and time again, they are not dealt with properly first time around. Information regarding the care and treatment are concealed from the family. Instead, they choose to cherry pick what info they pass on to relatives. normal practice to hear several different versions of the same event making it impossible to know the correct version.
My son moved into lilac Cottage in June 2017. As parents, this was an extremely difficult and hard decision to make.We wanted our son to experience new opportunities and independence. He settled in immediately he loves living there and being around people his own age. With the support from ALL staff, we are slowly coming to terms with our son being independent from home. We look at this as a positive step for our son.
I like Lilac Cottage because they help me and help my friend.
Wings Care is an extremely professional company. All family has liaised with all staff and each and everyone cares for my grandson to the highest standard possible. They're setting the bench mark for the rest of the care company's. My grandson is a new man, with all his needs met and dignity and respect and choices given at all times.
My son went into Wings Care Cherry Cottage as a last resort as he was struggling to live at home with this traits and obsessions, his social worker came up with Wings Care Cherry Cottage and our family had never looked back also especially our son. Standards in Wings Care Cherry Cottage is A1 perfect in every way, from cooking, cleaning right up to their service users issues, needs and overall each individual has specialised help. My son is moving to an bungalow on site from residential care which is another stepping stone to his progress which could not of been achieved without this establishment, I cannot praise them enough.
The magnificent staff and all associated with Wings Care should all be commended on their professional attitude they bring to this service, they helped bring my son such a long wait into this light from such a dark place he was at. We still have a journey ahead but for their help, care and understanding I feel we wouldn't be half way there with my sons treatment. They have helped so much to settle my son into his flat, reassurance, patience, care and much more I can only thank them for all they have done, my son has had about 4 1/2 years of hospitals, psychiatric units and treatments, this last year he has come on so much I can again only thank all involved in my sons treatments and again Wings Care Cherry Cottage.
