My judgement of St John's Home is based on my respite stay of six days, following an operation. During my time at the home, I experienced wonderful care by exemplary staff. I met well over 20 members of staff from a multitude of countries - they were all delightful, caring and cheerful, whether cleaners, carers, kitchen staff or management. There was an unfortunate accident, but the staff coped admirably, with emergency procedures strictly followed - simply exemplary!
I can recommend St John's, without hesitation, it's a lovely home.
My mother has been a resident for several years and is very happy with the care she receives. The staff are patient and understanding, treating residents with dignity, which gives me great peace of mind. The grounds are outstanding and provide a joyful space for residents to enjoy nature. The birthday cakes prepared for residents are exceptional and add a special touch. Some areas where enhancements could make life even better. Expanding access to technology such as the internet, computers, tablets, or streaming services. While TVs are provided in each room, programming is limited. More variety in food options and ensuring that cold dishes are served at room temperature rather than overly chilled. Addressing the noticeable smell of urine on the first floor. I realize this is a challenging issue as more residents suffer from dementia, but it affects the environment. Overall, I am pleased with management and the carers. Their dedication and compassion are evident.
I m very grateful to all of you running this care home, it was peaceful and comfortable place for her.
Thank you for the wonderful review, it was a pleasure to take care of your neighbour. Her presence is sorely missed by us all here at St Johns Home.
singers from yesteryear. Two things I note that are not in your boxes:-the grounds are extensive & lovely, and there is No smell inside the home.
She was welcomed into the community for the last few months of her life. Staff were helpful, caring and friendly and always happy to talk with us. The grounds were particularly important, enabling frequent trips into pleasant surroundings on the doorstep. We were very pleased to find a safe and reassuring place for my mother close to our home.
Very pleased with how clean my brother is. The attitude of the staff is positive and helpful. Very pleased with how he is being looked after. Thank you so much for the care you give him. I am so happy to see him so happy.
The home and gardens are quite something!
Beautiful home, surroundings and wonderful, caring staff.
While she was able, my mother enjoyed the various activities organised by the staff. She had a lovely room.
My dad has been in St John's since last September. He seems very settled and happy under the circumstances. He has a good relationship with the staff, who do a great job. My dad loves sitting in the lovely garden, and they're very good at letting me take him out every week.
The home itself is beautifully maintained, and I was delighted to see my grandma's room had had a complete makeover recently! Very much looking forward to taking my children and enjoying the beautiful gardens for visits in the summer again.
St John's has beautiful grounds, and its strength has in its staff, who have worked excellently in difficult situations for the last two years.
Happy with the care my husband is receiving, and when the family visits, the staff seem excellent. The only negatives are Covid related; we understand that this has been a massive challenge, and in general, the staff have coped well, just slightly problematic when key people are away.
Lovely care home in lovely surroundings. Proactive, attentive, caring staff who seem to go the extra mile. Good communication with family and quick to respond to needs or issues. Lovely activities including minibus trips when not in lockdown!
In the three and a half years my relative was a resident in the home, we have been very happy with the care that she has received. There were times when they were understaffed, but St John's have addressed this. The standard of care was generally excellent and it was a well-run establishment where my Aunt was very happy and settled. I would recommend St John's to anyone.
When looking for a home for my mother, we were very worried about finding the right one. We found St John's and we could not have been happier. Son my mother was putting on weight and socializing with the others. She was very happy at St Johns. Sadly my mum reached the end of her life but St John's received her back from hospital and gave my mum dignity and respect. They met her needs throughout her journey, ensuring her transition into the next world was a peaceful and a happy one. They treated my bothers and myself with kindness and respect.
I was a close friend of a lady who lived at St John's for two years until she passed away in June 2018. St John's is truly an amazing place. The building and grounds are beautiful - a totally unexpected oasis in an Oxford residential area - but it's the staff that made the place stand out compared to other homes I've known. The care and love they had for my friend (who could be difficult sometimes!) was far beyond what I could have dreamed of. There is something about this place, the staff seem to really enjoy their work. I have nothing but praise for both the management and the carers alike.
So far as I can tell, the care at St John's is exemplary. The general atmosphere is relatively informal and friendly, management is low-key but effective, while the care itself is positive and respectful. Staff in every department work purposefully yet never seem too busy to attend to matters as they arise. I particularly commend the senior staff who manage the immediate health and welfare of residents: one couldn't ask for more skill or dedication, undertaken with such cheerful willingness. Staff are always around so that residents' needs are usually met promptly, and there is a pro-active timetable of regular, individual room visits as well as communal activities and celebrations. The home is very convenient for public transport etc., while the building and garden provide a beautiful context for living here. However, the lack of en-suite facilities is, no doubt, a disadvantage that would put off some potential residents. The food is rather ordinary on the whole.
The home is immaculate and the staff are so helpful, caring and kind. My sister loves it there and looks better than I have seen her look in years. The home keeps me well informed of any events etc even though I live in Yorkshire. It is a fabulous home.
