I feel the overall standard of care is excellent, but I am unable to comment on many aspects because I have not been able to enter the building.
My experience is based on the period from December 2020 (when my mother was first admitted to Tamar) to the present date. This, of course, was at the height of the pandemic, and I have not yet been able to enter the home.
The staff keep me well informed of Mum’s health. My Mum’s demeanour has improved significantly, and she is always happy when I speak to her on the phone or visit her in the Summer House. She always looks well cared for, clean and tidy. Staff are always helpful, friendly, efficient and courteous.
The managers and staff have worked hard to protect residents during the pandemic and to make sure they are well cared for and well looked after. Recently, a wide range of engagement activities have been introduced, and these are appreciated. Staff keep relatives regularly informed of all health and other issues. This is a very well run home, and the group's values and policies are of a high standard.
Dad moved in at the end of February. Whilst Covid restrictions have limited access, we have been extremely impressed with attention, care and communications from the team. Good value when compared to other homes.
I would highly recommend Tamar House; my mother is so happy and safe, as a family, we couldn’t ask for anymore.
There is no better place. My mum is exceptionally well cared for and very happy here.
There have been many changes over the last 12 months or so and from what I have seen, all of them are for the better. Management and staff are very good at keeping me informed of what is going on for my dad and the care home in general. This was always good, but in these tricky times of coronavirus, have been even better. My dad is very content and happy where he is. He has a good relationship with the staff, leading to some fun and laughter, something I feel is very important.
My mother has been at Tamar House for approx. 4 years and during that time she has been treated with dignity and respect, is well cared for, and is encouraged to take part in all activities. The staff are helpful and respectful to relations and visitors, keeping immediate relations informed of any problem or treatment.
Tamar House care home is a very caring and responsible home for the residents in its care. All staff go beyond their normal duties making sure that all residents are looked after. Lovely clean home with nice meals. Dad has been at Tamar House over a year and is very happy and comfortable always praising the staff.
Entertainment is provided regularly in normal circumstances. Every effort has been made during the current pandemic to keep the residents happy.
During this extremely difficult lockdown period, all the staff have been excellent, and our whole family acknowledge how well Mum is cared for by them all
I am always welcomed when I go to drop things off, and I am kept informed of the medication changes for my aunt.
During coronavirus, the staff have been so accommodating and reassuring.
My mother has lived at Tamar House for more than a year now. It took her some time to settle and feel at home. The care team are very supportive to her, especially when she is unwell or anxious. They do everything they can to help her, treating her with care and dignity. The home is very welcoming to our family and keep us informed and involved in activities and events. I know Mum is safe and cared for at Tamar.
Food is excellent and my Dad loves it there and gets on with all the staff.
The home is good and staff are caring. It is purpose-built which is good. In general, I think the food in the care home is boring and dated. My mother has travelled a lot and likes Mediterranean food and curries. But generally, the food is a bit "seventies". Otherwise, all is good.
Relatives and friends of residents are welcome at any time. During our initial visit, one of the very elderly residents stopped and looked at us and said that is was a very nice home. After over two years we thoroughly agree and feel lucky to have found such a good home for mum.
It is a difficult choice to make for ones parents and it has been such a help to have prior knowledge. The staff have given so much care and support to both my mother and me to ensure a smooth transition to the care home. I am very pleased with everything.
My mother aged 92 has been a resident at Tamar House for 12 years, during which time, she has developed severe dementia. Throughout her time at Tamar House she has been looked after superbly. The management are excellent as are all the staff. Efficient, caring and considerate. I cannot praise then highly enough. We have recently moved my mother-in-law into Tamar House, which in itself reflects our confidence in their ability and consideration for all their residents. Excellent in every way.
I found when I approached the staff at Tamar House that their attitude towards a prospective customer was very professional, asking all the right questions. Compared to other care homes that I enquired at, Tamar House provided me with the confidence that this establishment was the perfect place for our father to come to. Dad settled in very well and immediately put our minds at rest in knowing the right choice was made. 'Thank you to all concerned!.
