I would want to say that Pearlina, and myself, were initially dubious about Pearl's sister coming to a Nursing Home. We had hoped that she could be supported at home by her loving family. But her care at The Elms has been wonderful, and all the staff have shown us what a Care Home should be. The bond
and care that they built with Carole has been so great on many levels and we would wish to offer our deep thanks for the love and professional support given to her. They grew to know her so well, and responded brilliantly when she was struggling, also involving all her family in her support. Big up The Elms.

What a awful home. Please think about putting your loved ones in here. This home is for different care and ages. Some of the staff are good but other staff waste of time. Definitely NO COMMUNICATION. You can ask staff a question all you get is I don't know or wasn't on shift. Cook is very good.
Manger is rude. I never saw her on the floor with residents but apparently she does. Residents don't do anything, really no fundraising for them to go on outings or no coffee morning etc. Oh thing was v e day which was good but then was on t v. The owner I meet once very nice person.

I would like to recommend Glenthorne Residential Home, my mom was a resident there for 5 years and the staff works hard the home is immaculate rooms were nice and warm they kept me updated with everything all the things that my mom needed. All the staff was understanding and made me feel welcome would

Positive features include, Selwyn Court offers a welcoming environment all staff are approachable they, care and are professional well presented at all times. They keep me informed in any changes in my fathers presentation,health etc. Individualized personal space for my father is given. Social interaction
with my father and self from all staff is excellent. Nutritional needs being met,with a focus on his likes and dislikes. There are opportunities for my father to participate in meaningful activities and experiences. Healthcare needs met. At all times dignity is promoted and respect of individuals maintained. The staff offer full support with personal care even though my dads behavior can be must be quite challenging.

Lovely care home. The improvements have been lovely to see.
The staff are amazing and go the extra mile. Communication is fantastic with staff. I must add some staff who are not British born and have left their country to work here, they are doing amazing. Well done Glenthorne you are all amazing.

Since under new management, I can honestly say this care home is great.
All being re decorated new furniture, the staff are brilliant, nothing is too much for them. The manager is fantastic you can approach her with ease, always smiling so are the staff.
They look after my mom really, really well.

Awful care home! My mother was attacked by another resident that should have had 1-to-1 care because of aggressive dementia, but the manager decided to reduce the care which lead to the attack! The carer in charge froze (wasn't trained) and had to wait for other careers to attend which lead the assault
being prolonged. Please do not subject your loved ones to the poor management of this home.

Both have dementia. There was no concern about training, CQC and LA are satisfied. The attack was not prolonged. The manager has no authority to remove 1-one-1 care for any resident. LA have final say on this. You did not remove Mum from a home 'with poor management' and took the whole 28 days to find her an alternative Home. Further facts - You had no issue until you were asked to escort Mum to the hospital. You verbally abused team leader and then intimidated staff and were asked not to visit the home (by SW) after we served notice to protect our staff and residents. You have criticised a team who looked after Mum for 19 months with little support from yourselves. As you know all complaints have been closed. It is deeply saddening that even on Xmas Eve, a time for family, your focus was to continue with your slanderous and false reviews.

My dad has a combination of dementia.
He was transferred from the hospital straight to the care home.
It took him about a week or 2 to settle in, he has a lovely room with a great team of care workers.
Must admit the whole team that's from the seniors, carers, cook and the housekeepers have got to
know my dad and do anything they possibly can to ensure his needs are met.
Dad has good and bad days due to his condition I visit on a regular basis and can see the effort is made by all.
The team listens and actions any concerns where possible. Dads been there for a few months now and feels comfortable with the team.
Thank you Selwyn Court as I know this job is not easy but the care can be seen and you guys are doing a great job.

The performance of this home has been very unprofessional to say the least. During a visit, my father-in-law, who has major dementia, became distressed when my wife became ready to leave and clung to her crying that he wanted to be taken away from there which distressed her severely. Instead of dealing
with it in a professional manner and calming everyone down, they called the police to have her ejected. The police asked her to leave, which she did, and sympathised with her situation. Since then they have put every obstacle in our way. We finally made a visit some weeks ago, and despite there being no issue and everyone being calm and happy, they ejected her again, and didn't even allow her to say goodbye to her dad. Since then, they have made excuse after excuse to avoid her even waving to him through a window, saying he was in bed, even when we could clearly see him sitting in the living room and when we attempted to even phone him, saying he was in bed even though it was hours.

Glenthorne House has become our second home as we visit my mum in law. I can call in at any time of the day or night without prior notice. The home is clean, never smells and the best thing is that I can ask any of the staff or management about my mum in law and they would know in detail how she is
if she has eaten and what she has eaten. The home has had many physical improvements which has made it very homely. The home is person-centred so each resident's needs are catered for. Most of all I know my mum in law is safe loved and looked after at all times and happy.

Mum is very well looked after and loved by all staff. The home really cares not just for residents but also for family of residents. As Mum has got older the staff have seen to all her needs and are always looking for ways to improve her care to keep her healthy and happy.
