My mother has been with Blackwell for over 4 years now, the care she has received, along with the attentiveness of the staff has been amazing. As expected, we were nervous about placing my mum in residential care, but the way Blackwell have looked after her very demanding care needs has really put our
mind at ease. I receive phone calls if there are any concerns or if the team need to talk to me, and they are always on hand if I need to call - no waiting on hold or continual ringing to get through to speak to them. Recently the care home has had a bit of a freshen up, new carpets and a lick of paint. Removal of unnecessary clutter and it has really opened it up to be an inviting, clean space. It was perfectly good previously , but we have certainly noticed an upturn in the recent months. We have no problems with my mum being here, and feel lucky that she has the care she has.

This is a wonderful home my mother has vascular dementia and over the last 17 months she has become more and more reliant on care. She has been in several homes but this is by far the best , it is clean, well staffed and her room is spacious and well equipped. The staff really care about the patients
and especially my mum they keep us well informed as to her condition and go that extra mile we can't praise them enough. They have a full and varied activities callender and try to involve all the residents . It feels like a home and not an institution unlike so many others they are not monetary driven but really do care. My mum has been a resident since November 2024.

Dad has been at Bramble Lodge since May 2024 and has received exemplary care from all the staff since his arrival. They have treated him with dignity, and are always kind and compassionate in dealing with his ongoing dementia, and the challenges it brings. The activities are second to none, the care
staff are amazing, the food and nutrition is excellent, and all managed by a supportive and attentive management team. Dad can't be in his own home, but Bramble make it home for him and us, with their excellent care. I cannot thank them enough for all they do for our whole family.

We are very happy with the care and support our mother receives. All the staff are very pleasant, helpfull and always have time for you and my mother. If we had a negative to say it would be over lost or missing clothing even when it is clearly marked up not just for mum but other residents (minor niggle).
We would and always recommended the home to anyone looking for their loved ones. Thank you everyone.

My mother was a respite resident for 5 weeks following a fall just before Christmas. From my first telephone conversation to the day she came home, I have found the care excellent at Blackwell. It would be unfair to single out any member of staff, as unfortunately I don't know the names of all the people
I have met. Everyone has been caring, patient and considerate. I came to see Mum on New Years Eve, but only stayed for 15 minutes as she was taking part in the activities and really enjoying it, which demonstrated to me the quality of this care home.
Whilst I was working, I had dealings with numerous care homes in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, Blackwell in my opinion is certainly 5 star.

Staff have always shown kindness to my mum. When she has been upset, they have taken the time to identify trigger factors. They have also acted quickly, registering a deterioration in condition and referring to the appropriate service. She and I feel very safe under Hollybank's care.

Mum was in bed in hospital before going to Hollybank and was up in the common room within 2 weeks. She seems happy and well cared for. She's been in hospital again due to a chest infection, and we were informed and consulted at all points. Food is lovely.

Blackwell care home feels warm, positive, and full of life, as soon as you walk through the door.
The level of care provided brings real peace of mind. The care is exceptional, the food is lovely, the environment is clean and welcoming, and the whole place feels safe and homely. The activities and
entertainment are wonderful and bring genuine joy and meaning to the residents' days. The open-door approach is incredibly reassuring and makes you feel listened to and supported.
What stands out most is the staff. Every member of staff shows politeness, genuine kindness, compassion, and dedication, going above and beyond every day. The difference they make is immeasurable, and I honestly cannot praise or thank them enough.
My mum is really happy here and I would happily recommend this home

My father has settled very well into Bramble Lodge. He seems very happy, telling us how lovely the food is. (Dad no longer has capacity). Natasha and all the staff are extremely caring, very approachable and always happy to help. The home is in a lovely condition and always kept clean. I would like

Not had much experience of care homes, but it seems very clean & tidy and not smelling like some others I have visited. Staff seem caring & efficient, sometimes they seem to be busy to take my mam to the toilet straight away. Seem to have a lot of activities going on, involve the visitors as well. My
mam has vascular dementia quite badly, so unfortunately can't ask her for a opinion as most of the time she does not know where she is. But we know that she is safe and that piece of mind for us all.

Overall I have seen a good improvement in facilities and decor of the home over the last year or so. I am very happy with care my mum receives from the staff. Its a shame the chairs have been moved from the entrance area as my mum always sat there and saw everyone goby, which I felt gave her some interaction.
Apart from that Im very pleased with the home, I must add that it alway smells nice Im never noticed a bad smell when visiting.

Mum gets upset when other residents invade her space but this has improved a bit since the layout was re-arranged recently, sometimes her laudry gets misslaid even though it has been labelled. Mum feels she has to get up and go to the toilet on her own, even though she needs help as she is unable to
wait too long due to continence reasons.
Generally good though, staff caring and respectful.
Mum remarked upon the food being good.

We are pleased to hear that the recent re-arrangement of the layout has helped reduce situations where other residents unintentionally invade your mum's personal space, and that she has been enjoying the food.
We are sorry to hear about the occasions when laundry has been misplaced despite being labelled. We will remind staff to take extra care to ensure personal items are returned promptly and correctly.
We also understand your concerns regarding your mum feeling the need to go to the toilet independently. Given her continence needs, we will reinforce with staff the importance of responding promptly and offering reassurance so she feels supported to wait safely for assistance.
