Review of Esk Hall Care Home from Susan M (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 April 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Esk Hall is a truly wonderful residential home. My mum was there from December 2024, and everything was superb. The staff are wonderful, caring and engaging with mum as much as they possibly could. The Communication was brilliant, as was the food, cleanliness, room and other residents. The home is set in a wonderful spot outside Whitby, and I really enjoyed (when visiting mum) the setting and views out of the conservatory.

Overall Experience
My Dad suffered from memory issues and was nervous about moving into a nursing home. He was made to feel so welcome when he moved in, the staff were all so kind and caring.
As his health deteriorated, the care he received was of an excellent standard. Myself and my brother were kept up to date with what was happening and he was always comfortable and well looked after when we visited him.
During his final days, all the care and nursing staff went above and beyond to care for my Dad. He was kept comfortable and we felt supported. The nurses explained what would happen over the last hours and they spent time to chat and offer a shoulder to cry on.

The care home staff work so hard and my only negative feedback is that I find it sad that on a night, the home is staffed by only one nurse and minimal care staff. It would be lovely to see TFP go above the lowest legal staff limits. I saw how hard those staff worked throughout the 8pm-8am shift.

It was Mum's 103rd birthday this month so the staff laid on a birthday party. The food was good, the games fun and suitable for the elderly! Mum even got flowers and a gift. We were made welcome and joined in the fun!

I think in challenging circumstances Mum is well looked after despite her moans. If I ring up about anything the staff answer my questions or concerns promptly and professionally. Always a cheerfulness about the residence.

The Nursing home has a warm caring and welcoming environment.
Staff are kind, caring and respectful of the individuals they provide care for.
Staff and engaging and provide the care with a smile and positive attitude.

The environment is clean and does not smell of a nursing home filled with elderly residents.

Review of Bedale Grange Care Home from P S (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father needs end of life care but still has all his faculties and Bedale Grange provides for his needs very well. The staff are wonderful and very attentive and caring, from care staff to service staff.
I am always made to feel welcome and I never see or experience anything I feel uncomfortable with when I visit. The building is not purpose built so there are some issues with facilities (showering) and some rooms are quirky because of the layout of the building but residents are free to personalise them.

He came for a weeks respite and stayed. That tells you a lot about how safe and well cared for he feels

Review of Greenwell House from Margaret P (Cousin of Resident) published on 8 April 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My husband's cousin is at Greenwell. She had a stroke and was left severely impaired. She was very reluctant to move into a care home, but she needs constant care and support. The staff are unfailingly welcoming to us, kind and caring and Greenwell House is always a cheerful place to enter - everyone has a smile on their face. They have found room for a few of our cousin's personal possessions such as pictures etc and this has helped to make her feel the space is more her own. Her room is always immaculate and clean. It is an older building, but my own mother stayed in a much more up to date care home where the surroundings were wonderful, but the dedication, care and kindness were missing. Kindness, care and friendliness are always the most important thing in any care home.

Review of Oak Trees Care Home from N F (Son of Resident) published on 8 April 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My Mum, has been resident in the Oak Tree's Car home since May 2024. She was moved there initially on a respite basis after being injured in an accident, but due to her dementia, she is now a permanent resident. The staff in general are excellent with her, though there are a couple who go the extra mile to bring a smile to her face or entertain her. She has a lovely room overlooking the countryside and whilst I know she would really like to go home, I also know she is very well looked after. Oaktree's make an effort to engage with the residents, by not only having a dedicated "Entertainments" Office, they also lay on musical and other events to stimulate and entertain. They are also visited by a hairdresser and chiropodist as well. I have no worries about my Mum's care and safety and cannot believe how lucky she is to be in such a caring environment.

Review of Oak Trees Care Home from Jenny R (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 April 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother settled very well at Oak Trees, the staff were always patient and kind and visitors made welcome. She was very comfortable and well looked after and looked forward to her meals. The fact that she felt safe and content was a huge relief. Activities staff organised various games, quizzes, handicrafts, visits from choirs and some animals and birds. One day residents and families had a fish and chip lunch outdoors. The care my mother received was very good.

Review of Bedale Grange Care Home from Michael R (Son of Resident) published on 3 October 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The care, including end-of-life, given by Bedale Grange Care Home was all we could have wanted, provided by excellent, experienced knowledgeable carers. The home met all the functional needs for Mam, the key word I want to use about the approach of the home and carers is that it is "truly caring with the necessary human touch". We were lucky that Mam was able to spent her final two months contented and safe in the exceptional environment. I would not have chosen anywhere else.

My 84-year-old father-in-law moved in with us because he had terminal cancer and needed help with daily living. When he could no longer manage the stairs in our home, we started looking for a care facility. Our palliative care nurse recommended Oak Trees in Alne.

My father-in-law spent the last six weeks of his life with the wonderful team there. From the very start, the staff could not have been more supportive of both him, but also myself and the rest of our family. From taking the time to show us around and allowing us to choose which room he had, to the warm welcome he received on the day of his arrival. The nurses, carers, cooks and laundry assistants, the management team and activities coordinator; each member of staff took the time to get to know him and make sure that he felt settled and cared for. Visitors were always welcome, we popped in every day, witnessing on a daily basis the fantastic and dignified care he received. I absolutely cannot recommend Oak Trees highly enough.

My parents were both cared for at Greenwell. They had the best care there was. The care was above and beyond. Making my parent's last years easier for them and their relatives and my family give them a huge thank you and would recommend Greenwell for its care and devotion to anyone looking for a care home for their loved ones.

My father has been in Oak Trees for 4 months, he is 91 and has Parkinson's. He has been very well cared for by the staff, everyone is very friendly and they have a good relationship with my dad and the other residents. His condition has fluctuated over the last few months but they have got to know him and adjust his care depending on his needs at that time. I'm always made to feel very welcome and it's starting to feel like we are part of a family there.

Overall Experience
My father has been in Oak Trees for just over four years, suffering from age-related Dementia. During that time he has received first rate care carried out with kindness and sensitivity which is not always easy with Dementia patients. My brother, sister and I all live a considerable distance away and can only visit once each month. Every time we call (on spec) he looks well cared for, the whole building is clean and pleasant smelling and we are welcomed.
I once asked a friend, who visited many homes in relation to her job, how she would choose a good one. She replied that I should look at the faces of residents when approached by staff. I have seen nothing but pleasure on those faces in Oak Trees.

I would highly recommend it.

Review of Greenwell House from Carolyn S (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 29 January 2024 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father-in-law moved to Greenwell House from out of area, and our experience was extremely positive, from start to finish. The environment is great for an 80+-year-old - much more homely than any other care home we visited whilst also being clean and fresh (it smelt actively nice in his room - I forgot to ask how they do it!)

We knew he was in the home for end-of-life care, and the staff were so incredibly kind both with ourselves and also, most importantly, in treating him with respect and dignity and always acting and thinking in a way which seemed very 'patient-centred'. They were also supportive and honest with us - both manager and one member of staff, in particular, for taking time to talk to us and make sure we were fully informed about his situation. This is well above what we had experienced elsewhere and was hugely appreciated and helped us adjust to his situation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greenwell - a great combination of experience, professionalism, warmth and smiley staff.

My wife spent five weeks at Greenwell House, having spent fifteen weeks in hospital with a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs). During her stay at Greenwell House she was treated with excellent care to keep her comfortable until she passed away. We were able to visit unrestricted throughout during her stay. The staff were very sympathetic and kept us informed.

My relative has been in Oak Trees for two years and her residency has changed her life and ours. The security, care, and family atmosphere created by the Fisher Partnership and its excellent staff have turned around the concerns of my relative and all her family. We are kept informed at all times, the nursing staff are excellent, and the NCAs are always there to help. All the staff have wonderful empathy. We were very lucky to have Oak Trees recommended to us.
