Myself and my daughters wanted to say how exceptional the Manager and all the staff are at Ullswater Cottage. My husband was admitted for respite care, but he really did not want to leave home, understandably. The staff have shown him nothing but compassion, kindness and care at such a difficult
time, and he now is luckily enough to stay on as a permanent resident.

Dad was in Derwent Lodge for 2 years and sadly lost his battle with Alzheimers and other complex needs last week.
Derwent lodge is full of wonderful caring staff that have given my Dad so much care and compassion along with the dignity that he deserved. From front of house in the office to deputy managers
and amazing nurses who could not of been more caring assuring Dad was kept in as little pain as possible. To the wonderful carers who always had a ready smile for Dad or a jolly sing song with him to try and keep his spirits up and normally encouraging a smile from him. To the wondeful kitchen staff who provided healthy nutritous home cooked food plus Dads favourite cake. To the lovely houseworkers who kept the place smelling fresh and clean. ( This has improved vastly since Dad arrived with the addition of new dayroom and new flooring. )
To entertainment and some wondeful parties we attended with Dad ( 100 %effort from entertainment staff to organise these)

My Dad was in Derwent Care Home for respite care from October to December 2025.
The care he received was excellent everyone looked after him so well and I would recommend Derwent Lodge to anyone looking for a care home for a member of their family

Mother was 105. She had been at Derwent Lodge for five and a half years. She received nothing but kindness, good care and respect from all the staff.
In her final weeks, the care from carers, nurses and general staff was exemplary. My mother was loved and she loved the staff.
The staff worked
hard but there were times when Derwent Lodge was understaffed.

I recently visited my father at Derwent Lodge and was so impressed by the high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and professionalism throughout the home. But what really stood out was the warmth, kindness, and good humour of the staff - everyone had a smile and genuine care for the residents.
Derwent Lodge is a caring and happy place, they do an outstanding job, and it means the world to our family.

Our Mum moved into Derwent Lodge in January 2024 with advanced dementia and COPD. The early days were challenging, but the team showed patience, kindness, and professionalism throughout. Over time, Mum settled in, started joining activities, and became part of the Derwent family. The care she received
was outstanding. In her final weeks, we were welcomed to stay by her side 24/7, and the compassion shown to both Mum and our family was beyond words. Every member of staff played a part in giving her dignity, peace, and comfort. We will always be grateful for the love and support we received.

Staff are always polite and helpful. I came to read to a resident and they always are very willing to help by providing a chair and a drink. During our visits they are kind to the resident and ourselves.

All the staff are so friendly and amazing and I couldn't fault with the care that they give not only my son but all the other residents that live there. I'm very happy to have my son here because I know he is receiving the best care that he can get.

My father spent the last 2 years of his life at Derwent Lodge. His accommodation was light, bright and spacious and his meals were always delicious. The team who took care of my dad were wonderful, always showing great care, respect, kindness and love for him. We felt extremely lucky that he was placed
there and will be always be thankful for the care he received right up until he died there.

My aunt lived at Derwent Lodge from January 2024, until November 2024.
It meant so much to me, to be able to move her from London, so that I could see her daily.
The team at Derwent Lodge treated my aunt with compassion and dignity whilst under their care, I couldn't have asked for any more. I'm
particularly grateful to one staff member in particular, who developed a special bond with my aunt. She always had her best interests at heart and my aunt was particularly fond of her.
There's so many people that I'd like to thank, who not only cared for my aunt, but made my family and I, feel so welcome. In particular I would like to recognise 4 staff members in particular for the care, compassion and humanity they showed my aunt, myself and my family, they truly are a credit to Derwent Lodge. I'd also like to mention 3 staff members in particular, for their cheerfulness and support.

He is in this nursing home as he needs palliative care. This home is wonderful, all bright and clean. The rooms are all lovely (cleaning every day). All the staff are excellent all very kind and caring. My husband could not be looked after any better. Thank you.

My mother was placed with Upper Mead in January as an emergency placement. The placement was longer than I hoped, but the care and support given by all the staff at Upper Mead was exceptional, not only for my mother but also for my father when he came to visit.
My thanks also to two members of staff
within management who were very kind and supportive in guiding me through difficult times. I am extremely grateful to every single member of the staff at Upper Mead, who are truly very special people.

Both management and carers are great. My husband has been very ill recently so last week I spent all day and every day sitting with him. The staff were exceptional both for my husband and myself. They made sure I was looked after and given a meal each day. I can't fault them all the nurses are great.
