We have been blown away by the level of love and care my Mum has received since moving to Wisteria House. It is such a difficult decision to take, moving a loved one into a care environment, but the whole team have done everything possible to settle mum and help us in this transition. Mum is loved and
cared for so well, the staff go out of their way to understand the residents and their needs - and to provide activities that they know they'll enjoy. Mum loves to help out and when she wants to, she's there giving out cups of tea and biscuits, helping with tasks that make her feel valued and useful. I would absolutely 100% recommend Wisteria to anyone who is looking for a dementia setting.

My partner moved into Wisteria House two years ago, suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's. Over the intervening years, the staff have looked after him cheerfully and kindly and I am truly grateful. I had come to the end of my ability to cope with our situation and it was difficult for me to transfer
the burden but Wisteria has more than met my hopes and I am now able to relax knowing that they are doing what is necessary.

Thank you so much for your review, this is something that is part of the Dementia journey, we understand how difficult it can be to do this on your own, this is where we step in to take over the care and try to make every day as interesting and stimulating as we can. Thank you again.

My grandmother stayed at Wisteria for a few months while her husband was in hospital. I can honestly say they are nothing short of exceptional! The staff were absolutely incredible - I truly struggle to find the words to thank them properly. My Grannie felt like part of a family and during her time
there, despite the dementia, I felt like I got my grannie back. Previously she was withdrawn and spent most of her time in bed, but thanks to the warm, social environment and the truly outstanding care she received, she began engaging again and genuinely seemed to enjoy life. They also supported our whole family, keeping in regular contact and going above and beyond to meet our needs. When her medication was in disarray, they had it sorted with the GP within 24 hours. On discharge, they provided a clear breakdown of her meds and ensured a smooth transition. Even now, she talks about returning-despite poor memory in other areas, her time at Wisteria made a lasting impact. I can't thank the staff enough!

I can't thank all the staff at Wisteria House Woolwell enough for the beyond excellent care they continue to give to my darling Mum and to our family. Mum went into Wisteria after a few stressful hospital stays and it was a difficult time for us all. Since being at Wisteria, Mum has thrived. She is
so well cared for by everyone. She has the most wonderful friends, the food is amazing (very fresh and wholesome and always available), the gardens are so beautiful and so peaceful and Mum has her sparkle back again. When we visit and take Mum out, the staff are all warm and helpful and professional and we are always welcome. Mum says she is happy and never wants to live anywhere else now. That is testament to the wonderful staff, the ethos and environment. Thank you for supporting us, and especially Mum, and enabling us to make more happy, quality memories with Mum.

My dad has been at Wisteria for over 3 years, as his behaviour has become more & more challenging the staff have been very good at adapting to his increasing needs. He is well cared for, his anxieties have diminished and he is given opportunities take part in the many activities offered. A very important
thing for me is that although I visit often, there is a very good line of communication with carers, team leaders & management, although everyone is always busy, they can find a moment to talk.
It is awful to see a loved one suffering from dementia, I feel the staff at Wisteria House have given Dad the best substitute for feeling 'at home' as his health allows.

My Mother-in-Law was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a number of years ago and as a family we have done everything possible to keep her at home, largely with the help of my son who moved in with her, and with daily visits from care workers. Inevitably this became harder and harder to manage, and so the decision
was made to move her to a care home. My wife visited several different homes, but for various reasons they just weren't right. But then she had the good fortune to view Wisteria House. she said she knew instantly that this was the place, and after my first visit I knew what she meant. The place has a lovely feel to it and the staff are all very warm and welcoming. It wasn't easy at first because it was it was all very confusing for her, but after a while she became a lot more settled.
There are always activities going on there and all the residents seems so content.
We are all so happy with the decision we made to move my Mother-in law to Wisteria. Keep up the great work everyone!

After caring for Mum in her own home for some time it became clear that Mum needed more than we could provide. Visiting Wisteria House for the first time we got such a strong feeling of cosy, homeliness and immediately felt we'd found a great place. Four months on we are sure of that. Everyone is always
welcoming, the care is so genuine. The activities provided are stimulating, varied and fun, everyone is included. We don't think we could have found a better fit for mum and us. We thank everyone there for their help and support.

Our dear mum has Alzheimer's. Having supported her living on her own for as long as possible, made possible by my wonderful sister and brother in law, and remarkable nephew, last summer we all agreed it was time for mum to move to a home. That was tough. But the stars aligned when Wisteria House and
their remarkable team came into mum and our lives. The care, support and love they give mum and their support of us as a family over what has been at times a challenging period, has been remarkable. They feel like an extended part of our family. Every single member of the team are so friendly, professional and caring. I feel humbled every time I visit. I cannot say a big enough thank you to the team and cannot recommend Wisteria House more highly.

When nana first arrived at Wisteria House in Hooe, I was very reluctant to visit. Mainly because I feared how awful it would be. I did eventually visit and was beyond surprised at how lovely it was. It felt like an actual home, full of love and compassion. Some years later, and with nana still residing
at Wisteria, I continue to be impressed every time I visit. Every resident is shown love and care, with their individual needs and wants catered for. I love that every occasion is celebrated and the joyful atmosphere the home has fostered.
Every one of the staff members are incredible. Very helpful, hard working and always with a smile on their face.
I and my family, will be forever grateful for the top class care they continue to provide our one and only nana.
Thank you Wisteria, xxx

This home in my opinion, and that of my aunty who has lived here for the last 6 years has to be given a 10/10 review. It has to be the best care home in Plymouth!

The team are led by the manager who is one of the most genuine, caring people you could wish to meet along with her fantastic team. The

love, care and compassion that the residents are given in this home is exemplary. The home cooked food is always prepared daily and presented with care, cakes are baked for birthdays as well as during the week. The girls are always encouraging the residents to join in with themed activities which are varied throughout the week. The ladies have their hair do's every week so they all look extremely smart and the staff pay particular attention to the way the residents are dressed daily, everything matches and spotlessly clean.

My aunty has had a wonderful 6 years in this home and is very happy - what more could you ask for our elderly relatives other than to be loved and well cared for x

It was the hardest decision to put mum in a home. I looked at so many care homes and feeling that if I couldn't imagine living there myself it would not be right for mum. The moment I walked into Wisteria I was met with such warmth and feeling of home and I knew this was the place.
My mum did find
it very difficult at first which broke my heart, but the staff were so supportive and kind helping not only mum but myself with this transition . The staff show so much love and understanding it was not long before mum was happy and content.
I am amazed by all the fabulous activities and social events that they offer encouraging the residents to get involved with.
There is nothing that the staff will not do to look after each individuals needs showing such affection and going the extra mile.
Over the last 8 months that my mum has been at Wisteria House I feel we have struck gold and cannot thank everyone enough for this.

Wisteria House truly deserves its CQC rating of "Outstanding". My wife was entrusted to the care of the manager and her team after 5 years of care at home . She has smiled more in the 6 weeks she has been at Wisteria house than during the previous 5 years.
The care provided is superb, with all
carers, without exception, devoted to the residents and providing virtually a one-to-one relationship. Regular activities and events ,with encouragement to all residents to join in, , ensure maximum stimulation. This shows in the animated expressions on the faces of those taking part. and in the relaxed atmosphere Everyone's needs are responded to and regular visits from hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and entertainers contribute to their wellbeing.
Wisteria House is home, and my daily visits have been immensely reassuring to me. My family and I viewed many care homes in the Plymouth area and are certain we have made by far the best choice
