From the first time I set food in Wisteria House which is filled with colour and curios, flowers and art works, I have been bowled over by the levels of professionalism blended with humour, light hearted fun, kindness, compassion and patience towards the service users and other member of staff. There
are a variety of spaces for the residents to choose from; quiet sitting room, bustling dining room, large sitting room with entertainment or TV and that's just downstairs. There are regular activities for the residents from arts and crafts to invited professional entertainers. Movie days, Pirate Days, Funny Hat Days,Cheese and Wine tasting days, PJ Days the list is endless....almost every day there is something going on for everyone to enjoy.
Staff are consistently mindful for what is happening around them. They keep me informed at my request of everything I need to know regarding mums well being. I couldn't ask for more. Wisteria House has been a God Send to only for my mother but also for me. Having to walk away from mum even when she is having a bad day and be confident that all the staff will really care for her is priceless.

My wife has been a resident at Wisteria House Dementia care home for exactly 12 months during which I have visited her almost daily. The level of care love and attention given to each resident has astonished me and this is reflected in the general atmosphere of happiness among staff and the residents.
I have no reservations in recommending Wisteria House to anyone whose loved one can no longer be cared for at home.

There's always something going on, with lots of activities that keep everyone engaged and included, which really makes a difference. Most of

I cannot praise Wisteria House enough. The staff here have looked after my sister Lorraine like she is one of the family. They've treated Lorraine with kindness, warmth, respect and dignity, sometimes through difficult situations.
Lorraine has settled in Wisteria; it's nice to go in and see her with
a smile on her face. Thank you all for the help and care you give her.

The staff at Wisteria House appear cheerful and kind. Since I am not in a position to care for my partner myself, Wisteria House seems to be the next best solution. They have also been kind and understanding to me.

Wisteria House at Woolwell have taken exceptional care of my mother. She was very weak and frail when she arrived and now she has improved so much physically. They encourage her to take care in activities and respect her choices. They keep me informed and updated with any changes, issues, or concerns.
Wonderful staff and ethos.

My mum has been at Wisteria for almost a year. During that time myself and the rest of the family who visit regularly have been impressed with the facilities available as well as the whole team of staff that contribute to the care and wellbeing of my mum. Wisteria House is a welcoming place with a
number of different areas that the residents can undertake different activities. The staff are always kind, helpful and welcoming to my family and also to my mum. There are numerous people that visit Wisteria to entertain the residents (singers, Plymouth Argyle staff to demonstrate light exercises, and even small animals). Mum enjoys the food, which is home cooked and healthy and on nice days she likes to sit in the lovely garden with us. Overall I'm very happy with the care my mum receives at Wisteria House at Woolwell.
Reply from Leanne Gale, Manager at Wisteria House Dementia Care (Woolwell)I just wanted to say a big thank you for this lovely review. The Home look after her every need from The lovely meals, the entertainment, the cleanliness of her room and most of all the wonderful staff, who are very experienced in dealing with Alzeimers/Dementia residents.

Mum had been with Wisteria for over 5 years and as her illness progressed so did the level of care and love. When she joined them we were advised they would care for her to end of life and that was exactly what happened. She wasn't moved from her home to a hospital with lots of others she was kept peaceful
and comfortable with everyone she knew and loved around her. The thoughtful touches staff provided in her room bright lights smell and sounds were amazing. We could never thank them enough for all they did and included us every step of the way. The staff are dedicated and caring and for them it's not a job but a vocation. If your family enter here you can relax and enjoy your time with them. Thank you everyone

Wisteria House stood out as being by far the best in a large selection that I viewed for my father. The home is extremely welcoming and the staff are genuinely caring and knowledgeable. Dad has been there for 5 months now and has settled in very well. I know he is happy, content, safe and all his needs
and more are met. The staff take the time to go at dad's pace ( he can take an hour to eat a meal and only with full assistance) and anticipate his wishes. The food is home cooked and appetising and tastes good ( I've eaten there), and even though dad is on a special diet it's prepared with care and thought. His bedroom is homely, as is the rest of the house. The home doesn't have an institutional feel and it's been carefully designed around the needs of dementia residents.
I couldn't wish for a better place for dad to be.
Reply from Leanne Gale, Manager at Wisteria House Dementia Care (Woolwell)On behalf of all of us here at Wisteria House, a huge thank you for taking the time to place this lovely review. It was a difficult decision to place my Mum in a care home after the passing of my father. My mum has complex health needs that I am simply unable to help with. The staff at Wisteria house are friendly, kind l, always smiling and nothing is ever too much. They keep me informed on all her needs.
They have made the transition for her the smoothest it could be and looked after my Mum. I am truly grateful to you all.

We have been blown away by the level of love and care my Mum has received since moving to Wisteria House. It is such a difficult decision to take, moving a loved one into a care environment, but the whole team have done everything possible to settle mum and help us in this transition. Mum is loved and
cared for so well, the staff go out of their way to understand the residents and their needs - and to provide activities that they know they'll enjoy. Mum loves to help out and when she wants to, she's there giving out cups of tea and biscuits, helping with tasks that make her feel valued and useful. I would absolutely 100% recommend Wisteria to anyone who is looking for a dementia setting.
Reply from Kirsty Young, Registered Manager at Wisteria House Dementia Care (Plymstock)Amazing, thank you so much for this lovely review! My grandmother stayed at Wisteria for a few months while her husband was in hospital. I can honestly say they are nothing short of exceptional! The staff were absolutely incredible - I truly struggle to find the words to thank them properly. My Grannie felt like part of a family and during her time
there, despite the dementia, I felt like I got my grannie back. Previously she was withdrawn and spent most of her time in bed, but thanks to the warm, social environment and the truly outstanding care she received, she began engaging again and genuinely seemed to enjoy life. They also supported our whole family, keeping in regular contact and going above and beyond to meet our needs. When her medication was in disarray, they had it sorted with the GP within 24 hours. On discharge, they provided a clear breakdown of her meds and ensured a smooth transition. Even now, she talks about returning-despite poor memory in other areas, her time at Wisteria made a lasting impact. I can't thank the staff enough!

I can't thank all the staff at Wisteria House Woolwell enough for the beyond excellent care they continue to give to my darling Mum and to our family. Mum went into Wisteria after a few stressful hospital stays and it was a difficult time for us all. Since being at Wisteria, Mum has thrived. She is
so well cared for by everyone. She has the most wonderful friends, the food is amazing (very fresh and wholesome and always available), the gardens are so beautiful and so peaceful and Mum has her sparkle back again. When we visit and take Mum out, the staff are all warm and helpful and professional and we are always welcome. Mum says she is happy and never wants to live anywhere else now. That is testament to the wonderful staff, the ethos and environment. Thank you for supporting us, and especially Mum, and enabling us to make more happy, quality memories with Mum.

My dad has been at Wisteria for over 3 years, as his behaviour has become more & more challenging the staff have been very good at adapting to his increasing needs. He is well cared for, his anxieties have diminished and he is given opportunities take part in the many activities offered. A very important
thing for me is that although I visit often, there is a very good line of communication with carers, team leaders & management, although everyone is always busy, they can find a moment to talk.
It is awful to see a loved one suffering from dementia, I feel the staff at Wisteria House have given Dad the best substitute for feeling 'at home' as his health allows.
