On his arrival my father walked into this home himself, the lack of the most basic care was exceptionally worrying. My 82yr old mother had to visit daily she was so worried about him. With the support of social services we moved him to another care home approximately 9 weeks later, but unable to walk
had to be transferred by ambulance. New care home got him mobile within days and a few weeks later he gained 9lbs in weight, was smiling and totally transformed!

Reply from Paul O'Grady, Development and Delivery Manager at Eversleigh Nursing Home

We are sorry to hear about your experience of our home. We strive to offer the highest standards of care and we are disappointed when this has not been achieved. It is sometimes difficult for all of us to deal with the changing needs of residents and often that is the reason for their admission in the first place. Sometimes the change is such that we can no longer safely meet the needs of a resident despite our best efforts. We feel that when this happens, we should be swift to help people relocate to somewhere more suitable and on hindsight we feel we could have helped sooner in your father's case. We were relieved that social services located a more suitable home for your father and we are delighted to hear that he is progressing so well. Please rest assured, that where areas for improvement are identified, we work swiftly to correct these and learn from them. We sincerely regret that your experience of our home was not to your expectation, We are sorry for any distress caused.

My mom is a resident in Robinswood. She is happy and content living there and that is due to the wonderful care she receives from all the staff. From the department managers, carers, cleaners and laundry ladies, all are a credit to the home.

Our father was treated with the utmost respect and dignity during the three months he spent at Eversleigh Care Centre until his sad passing. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly care team. He was always looked after. With a special mention to the night shift who were all very professional and
understanding throughout the last hours that he spent with us.

My dads illness is progressing whilst receiving palliative care. During this time the staff at Eversleigh Care Centre are treating my dad with excellent care and also maintaining his dignity through their sensitive approach. I am always informed of changes in his needs and also when I visit I am treated

The care, support, compassion and dignity provided to my mother is extremely good. Eversleigh staff are caring and kind, offering support on many levels. Her health needs are met and they engage with my mother with kindness. On numerous visits, I have observed staff interacting with residents, playing
board games, dancing to music, craft activities and always with a smile.

Unit managers 10/10. Activities coordinators 10/10. Handful of carers 10/10. The majority of carers are 10/10. One carer 1/10. Rooms - why not cleaned regularly - pleasant cleaner. Food, a handful of meals were nice, a few were just about adequate. The majority of the food is below par. Chips with cheese
grated on top of the smallest baked potato with a teaspoon of cheese, watery, tasteless soup, and cake, cake, dry cake and cake, too much cake. I wonder what the nutritional value of meals is. Management below expectations. Beaker cups need a good clean.

Although my mom's stay here wasn't to be too long from the moment she arrived she seemed to relax and be at peace. I had moved her from a failing previous care home and they made us both feel welcome from the onset.

From Admin too care staff and handymen all were friendly and efficient.

On

the day of my mom's death the staff were so helpful and compassionate, they even cried with me as my mom passed over quite suddenly.

My dad lived at the haven for the last three years having vascular dementia and a grand age of 92 at the time he passed . From the moment my dad moved in till he's last moments he was so well loved and cared for . The home always had a wonderful atmosphere, always clean and well presented.Activities
are a regular feature and special events always celebrated , music was my dad's favourite. My dad was so well cared for ,always clean and showered, beautifully shaved and every need was seen too. The home worked with us a family and his needs changed over the time he was there the plans were always adjusted. No matter what home you go to it's the staff that makes the home ,from the admin the chefs ,the nurses ,the maintenance, they all work so hard and to there up most at the haven and I can't recommend them highly enough .

Eversleigh Nursing Home

I have made a written formal complaint and 4 weeks later not received a reply. The overall impression is that the home is friendly and compassionate. However, the care is poor and the staff not attentive and do not listen or respond to requests. The laundry system is poor despite £35.00 spent on name
buttons. Laundry 'lost' dad's expensive personal duvet, clothes and towels do not come back. New socks were lost after a few days. Food at best is school dinners and stodgy, few vegetables and fruit offered.

Reply from Paul O'Grady, Operations Director at Eversleigh Nursing Home

We sent a response to this person following receipt of their concerns. To say the care is poor is just rubbish. Our staff are dilligent and caring and work hard to meet the needs of our residents. However, not everyone can deal with aggressive questioning which is why we ask that people discuss any concerns with the nurse in charge. We accepted there were some concerns with the laundry service which we are working on but we have not lost the personally supplied duvet. the clothes that you had not seen come back were mislaid before the attach a tag was applied. It is not right to say the food is like school meals and stodgy. We provide dishes that are created in consultation with the residents to produce a summer and winter 4-weekly menu. Our freshly prepared meals include vegetables and fruit and we also make cakes and snacks for in between meals. All our residents have a review with the head chef on a monthly basis and they like, dislikes and preferences are considered.

We were so lucky to have been granted this place for our 94-year-old mother to be cared for until her last day. This is a nursing home that really cares. From the first day admitted she was made welcome and her one-to-one carer was a blessing. She made her feel safe, fed her, clothed her, washed and
trusted in her. The whole team were great - nothing too much trouble, attentive and always a carer or nurse at hand. The place is kept clean and tidy and always a variety of food is available. Lots of care provided to make sure Mum was comfortable, safe and checked on frequently. Absolutely a 5-star rating.

Eversleigh House needs to be refurbished to bring up to date and that is planned to start soon. Don't let that put you off, the kind and efficient and loving care that my husband and I have received is so much more valuable than paint and carpet. and the carers and nurses are all wonderful. There is love and kindness in the air and this makes things easier.
