The care my gran is given is excellent from carers to management. Everyone is extremely friendly and caring. If there are any issues these are dealt with swiftly. It was very difficult for us as a family to place Gran in a care home as we could no longer care for her ourselves, but choosing Brownlee
was definately the best decision. She's safe/cared for extremely well and happy. She especially enjoys the fitness classes.

Our mother has been in Brownlee Care Home for 17 months. We are happy with everything. We feel our mother is looked after with first class care. We feel she is safe in there.
We have had no problems to date. Everyone from the cleaners to carers are fantastic.
If we have any concerns we know they are
dealt with.

Brownlee Care Home has the most caring, loving, attentive staff I have ever experienced.
The home itself has very good facilities for patients and visitors. Spottlessly clean.
I am so pleased Mam is in Brownlee in her final days.
Thank you.

My brother lived here from early last year until he passed this week.
All we as a family can say is that the manager and his team on orchid suite were fantastic. The care and love my brother got from them was amazing. The support we got as a family was amazing too. The home was always kept
clean and if you asked a member of staff for something it was never any bother.
Thank you for making the last month's of my brothers life comfortable.

A heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful carers and staff at Brownlee Court. My Dad spent the last 18 months plus of his long life with them reaching 105 years old. They made his time with them so very special he was cared for and treated with great compassion, respect and dignity nothing was too
much trouble. The home created a warm and friendly atmosphere which was extended to all family and friends. They were there with kindness and understanding when he passed. As a family we cannot praise them enough.

My husband has been cared for on the nursing wing for a number of years. The wing is currently having works done to improve the bathrooms in each room. All of the staff work tirelessly to support the residents and I am always welcomed warnly into the home. I visit my husband regularly and have seen
how he is treated with respect and kindness by all of his carers. The nurses are excellent and keep me informed of any medical issues. There is a weekly ward round by the local surgery. The food is varied and the home is clean and well maintained. I feel reassured that he is in good hands.

My father in law arrived 2 and a half weeks ago as end of life care on floor 2 nursing. I would like to say how fabulous your care home is. They not only looked after my father in law but all of us family members too day and night. The staff nothing was ever too much trouble kept checking on my father
in law and on us too. The nurses were all fantastic too. When we wanted to stay over they made up 1 bed and put a chair in. Another night nurse got a double chair brought pillows and blankets. They also brought us a trolley with crisps biscuits and fruit. They said tell us whenever you need anything. At the end they were so very compassionate. The nurse that night i would love to thank with all my heart. Not a nice experience to go through but made easier with compassionate staff.

As a family we were given several choices of care home for when my father was considered fit to leave hospital. On evaluation and first impression, Aster appeared the best fit for my father's short-term needs pending his further assessment.
The cleanliness of the home and attention to detail in the
thoroughness of dad's care, through some very difficult moments in recent weeks, has convinced us that we made the right choice for him. We have the confidence that his short, medium and likely long-term future will be with Aster and we are very comfortable with this on his behalf. He has settled in this friendly and supportive environment, which some weeks ago seemed unlikely. Our sincere thanks go to all the team. Their care for dad, communication with us, honesty and warmth has been incredibly reassuring in a time of immeasurable concern.

My elderly dad has been looked after by the team at Aster since mid-March and he is being very well cared for. The staff are superb with him and are very attentive to his needs. The 24/7 care that dad is receiving is also helping to give the family peace of mind as we know that he is in the right setting
at this stage of his life. Our thanks to the team at Aster. Your dedication and care for dad is greatly appreciated.

My husband moved here in January and as a young adult needing care It was hard to find the right place. Then aster came along.. and wow they go above and beyond to meet my husbands needs. The activities they have are varied and regular. My husband also has 1-1 support to access the community. They
really do cater to all needs. The meals are varied and lovely home cooked he thoroughly enjoys them and gets plenty. If there is something he doesn't like it's no trouble to get something else. All the staff in every area are friendly and caring and always smiling. I can sleep well at night knowing my husband is taken care off and kept safe at all times and more importantly he's happy and calls it home!

My cousin was in the care home for a few months, she suffered so much in those months - sexually, physically and verbally abused, she was frightened and scared. Often when we arrived to see her she could be heard screaming and no staff were seeing to her or talking to her to try and understand what
was wrong, even if they were sat in the lounge area with her.
It was always hard leaving her after a visit.
I have noticed that reviews that are not 'good' on here receive an automated response, is anyone taking any notice ??
Reply from Julie Cattermole, Manager at Aster Care

At Aster Care Home, we take every concern seriously and respond personally-our replies are not automated. We deeply regret any distress experienced and assure you that every allegation is thoroughly investigated. In this instance, safeguarding, alongside the local authority, CQC, and police, confirmed that our care practices meet rigorous standards. We have noticed that this concern has been raised on several occasions, and our carefully considered response remains consistent, as it is based on thorough investigations and adherence to stringent safeguarding standards. Our dedicated team is committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care that prioritises safety and dignity at all times. We remain open to further discussion to address any additional concerns.

In the months that my niece was under their care she was physically abused twice! The fact that this can happen in a supposably safe and secure home is totally unacceptable. The care and attention was lacking to say the least. We could not wait for her to leave.

Our daughter moved to Aster Care 14th August 2024 & moved out 24th Feb 2025. While been in there she was sexually, verbally & physically abused causing her to be scared, frightened & traumatised, losing weight & hair loss. Twice when visiting in one week she was sat in wheelchair soiled and wet & we
needed to change her, wheelchair cover & sling while staff were sat using their phones. A few times when we went she was in her room, door shut no tv or alexa on, screaming as she needed attention.

My daughter was moved into Aster Care Middlesbrough on the 14th August 2024. We were shown round beforehand and it appeared satisfactory. Within a few months she was seriously sexually, verbally and physically abused by two other residents (police were informed). No good safeguarding was put in place.
The physically and verbally abuser is still wandering around the home now. She was regularly left in her room, door shut, shouting and screaming because she was frightened, as she was likely to be. I visited 3 times most weeks, travelling 90 miles each visit because I knew she wasn't getting the care she needed. Often she was soiled because half of the staff just didn't care. Most of the staff didn't make me welcome. Fortunately she moved on the 24th Feb 2025.

From the day my husband arrived he was made to feel welcome. The home is immaculate in every area and has a lovely homely feel. The bedrooms are of varied size, all are spacious with modern furniture. Each room has a lovely modern ensuite shower room. The food is of high quality and varied. The residents
are encouraged to participate in the regular activities programme, which again is varied and plentiful, ensuring residents are engaged and stimulated. Coffee mornings are a lovely touch and the singalongs are so enjoyable. The Valentines day meal that was arranged for residents and partners was a really lovely touch, tables were set and decorated in the privacy of the rooms served with a 3 course meal. The staff at Brownlee made my husbands transition into their care as relaxed as it possibly could be. The staff are amazing, I cant thank them enough for the care shown to my husband and the outstanding support they gave me and my family. Would I recommend this home I absolutely would.
