My mother has been a resident of Frank Foster house since September 2021. The care is broadly very attentive and the staff provide timely communication for any new issues whether urgent or more general etc
I found the home to be flexible for resident visits whilst remaining compliant to government
guidelines (e.g: Covid) and also when taking my mother out of the home for scheduled visits to family.

Our Mother has been a resident of Frank Foster House at Theydon Bois for around 7 months now.
My sister and I can not fault the care and attention that our Mother has received and we are very thankful that this home was found for Mum.
She has a lovely room with lots of attention. Hair Dresser, manicures
and plenty of conversation.
We even are able to take Mum over the Green at Theydon to The Queen Victoria Pub most Sundays for Lunch. The food in the home is great Mum is pleased with the level of quality and afternoon teas with cakes are a nice touch.
All in all my sister and I would say an excellent care home.

My mum is content with the home (she does have dementia so as you understand it's difficult to pin down my mum's true feelings).
My mum moved into the home during Covid and I have only had pod visits with my mum, therefore my knowledge is limited.

Mum has been in Frank Foster for 4 years. My sister and I cannot thank you enough. The care you have shown our mum is second to none.
In the last 2 years with Covid, the home put the residents first even though at the start of the pandemic we couldn't go to see mum we were able to have face time and
we knew she was safe and being cared for. It was hard for everyone but they came through it. We cannot thank the carers and staff enough.

I wish to thank all the staff from my heart at the home for the care for my father who passed away at the home on the 26th December 2018 and the further care of my mother who passed away on 13th July 2021. Although they both reached a grand age of 97 and we're married for over 73 years it has been a
great loss and a very large hole has been left in my life. Their kindness and care at the home will never be forgotten, my thanks and love go to you all.

My dad was very unhappy there and when lockdown happened he was very lonely, this caused him to stop eating and drinking. Window visits were very difficult as he was a bit deaf. I had had both of my vaccines and had he had his, but they still didn't allow me in to see him.
I was not called when he
became ill and was having end of life care. I came to see him to say goodbye. I was not allowed in even though he only had the health professional with him, so myself and my children watched through a window, another member of staff came in and filmed us from her phone, very rude.
I was told that only my sister and her two daughters were allowed in as my sister was next of kin, but that was untrue because their children were also allowed in. It was disgusting, he was dying, his room had an entrance door next to his room. I would have worn full PPE and would not have come in to contact with any other residents. I work in a hospital ward and all relatives were allowed to see dying relatives.

I am more than satisfied with the care my Mum receives. It's lovely that the staff do her hair and nails and make a bit of a fuss of her as well as providing the basic care. Keeping active has always been important for my Mum so she loves dancing! I appreciate that measures have had to be put in place
to protect residents but in spite of that, I always feel welcomed even when on the other side of a window.

My 95-year-old mother was transferred to Frank Foster House after being discharged from hospital. She was deemed to require full-time care and is now a permanent resident at Frank Foster House. Despite all the horror stories of not being able to visit during Covid times, I was pleasantly surprised that
the Home operated a Pod for visits, so I was able to visit her once a week. This gave me an opportunity to see how she was mentally and physically, and if she was settling in ok. Since the regulations have eased over the last couple of weeks I have been able to visit her in her room once having completed all the Covid formalities. All the staff I have met in Frank Foster House are very pleasant and helpful, and my questions answered. My mother's room is very clean, as seems the rest of the building that I have travelled through on the way to her room. Although I guess not always the case, there is a feeling of calm. Although my mother came here by default, I am more than happy for her to stay here.

Mum has been at Frank Foster for three years now and has been looked after well. All the staff have been happy to help and are very friendly. Mum is now having one-to-one care and this gives my sister and I peace of mind.

It was so emotional seeing mum today after 12 months of looking through a window. I cannot applaud Frank Foster enough for all the brilliant work done by the manageress and all of the staff during this tough time. Entering the house today, it was spotless and mum's room could not have been more cosy
for her. I am so grateful for everything the staff have done to keep her comfortable and happy.

The care given to my father during his years at Frank Foster was consistently loving and consistently good. My father came to see Frank Foster as his home and the staff were really like a second family to him (all the more so when we were unable to visit because of the pandemic).

My mother-in-law us a resident at Frank Foster House. I am so happy with the care she is receiving and how well she looks. They call if there is a problem and when I call to speak on facetime I always get greeted by a carer, senior or even the manager answers nothing is ever too much trouble. Lovely

My mum needed 24-hour care overnight, I looked at other care homes in the area. When I went to Frank Foster House I just turned up and the staff were very friendly and took me for a tour of the home. The residents looked very happy and were doing lots of interaction with the staff. My mum has been here
for nearly 2 years and the home is outstanding. The care she receives from day to day is wonderful. Even during lockdown I get weekly reports from the manager, deputy manager and staff. I can’t fault the home at all, my mum loves it at Frank Foster as well. If I can’t get to see Mum then the staff help my mum to FaceTime me so we can keep in touch. I can’t thank all the staff for the outstanding work they do to keep our loved ones safe during this difficult time. Keep up the good work guys.

My mother joined Frank Foster home for respite care following a spell in hospital after a nasty fall. I was worried about the impact on her after a succession of moves from her home, to two hospitals and then to respite care. I really didn't know what to expect.
My fears were completely unnecessary.
My mother is the happiest I have seen her in many years. She is bright, enthusiastic and loving life. She has asked to stay permanently. There are many reasons for this; firstly the staff are extremely professional and respectful in all their interactions. They are truly outstanding. Secondly, the numerous activities, my mum enjoys every day, and the activities have enabled her to make friends quickly. Also, the building is beautiful, my mother tells me every day how beautiful her room is. She loves the quality of all fixtures and fittings, she is very proud of her room and how nice it looks. She feels extremely lucky, secure and well cared for. It is so heartwarming.

My father has thankfully been at Frank Foster House for over 7 years. During the pandemic, he was taken urgently into hospital for a medical condition that he has. He went in as jovial as he normally is but after 2 weeks he was finally discharged and returned to Frank Foster House very confused. The
hospital wanted him discharged to a nursing home. With the wonderful help of the management at Frank Foster House, he was finally allowed to come back to what has been his home for some time. I have visited him since and I was happy to see that he is showing signs of being back to his old self. I honestly do not think he would have survived had Frank Foster House not intervened to get him back to what I now call 'his extended family'. The management and staff are the best and I cannot thank them enough for the love and care that they have given my father, especially at a difficult time that we all face. I highly recommend this care home, your loved ones will be well cared for and you will have peace of mind.

Where to start? When we were told my mother-in-law need 24-hour care we looked at so many care homes in the Essex area. My husband and I knew we had to choose the right one first time around. We just turned up at Frank Foster House and were welcomed. My mother-in-law has been there nearly 2 years now
and is loving it there. Their staff are very helpful, friendly, chatty and always willing to lend a hand in their busy day. Management are always at the end of the phone line if you need to talk, or their door is always open. During the Covid-19 lockdown all staff have worked really hard making my mother-in-law stay safe and keeping us informed with weekly reports of how she is doing or even phoning us so Mum can keep in touch, or FaceTime. Keep up the excellent work you are doing looking after all our loved ones at Frank Fosters House as we all know it can’t be easy for you all at this difficult time during Covid-19.

I am originally from Mauritius and I started my career in Social Care at Frank Foster House in 2006 as a housekeeper. I left Runwood to become a manager of some successful care homes that were rated outstanding and decided to come back as the manager.


In 2017, I won the National Dementia Care Award for Inspiring Leader and also in 2021, I received a British Citizen Award for volunteering work in the community.


I am very proud to be part of the Frank Foster House Family, and I was amazed at the incredible support I have received from my colleagues, residents, and relatives. I enjoy seeing the residents happy and well looked after, and I am proud to be able to lead the team in reaching an excellent standard of care.

I began my journey here 12 years ago as a Kitchen Assistant, and over the years, I have been fortunate to grow within the team and develop my career in care. Today, I am proud to lead and support our care team while also championing best practices in dementia care.


I am deeply passionate about working with the elderly, and I find great purpose in making a positive difference to the lives of our residents. Frank Foster House is a very special place to me, and I am proud to be part of such a dedicated and caring team.

My name is Carlos, and I am the Deputy Manager at Frank Foster House.


Before moving into social care, I worked as a firefighter and paramedic in Portugal. I also have over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including working in luxury hotels, which gave me a strong foundation in customer care and service. For the past 9 years, I have been dedicated to the social care sector, supporting residents and leading teams to deliver high-quality care.


In my role, I am proud to be both a Veteran Champion and an Infection Control Champion, helping to ensure best practice and specialist support for our residents and staff.


Outside of work, I am passionate about horse riding and travelling, which give me energy, balance, and inspiration.
