Since my father was admitted into The Gables. I have nothing but praise for all the staff. The care and consideration given to my father is outstanding. My mother, before she died, was in care which I thought was good but The Gables has shown me what true care really means. They are a family with love
and compassion for the residents, led by an outstanding manager.

Another year has passed and another year confirmed as choosing The Gables care home for my mother was the best move our family made. The staff at The Gables are themselves a family and their one aim is to give the best possible love and care to their residents. This they have done and continue to do.
I have the rare pleasure of knowing that this care team can do what I cannot. Thank you Gables.

I was with the resident and husband at their home address when an emergency occurred with husband. I contacted the daughter who phoned The Gables because the resident is known to them. A carer was sent to help and after packing a bag took resident with her to The Gables. I can't express my thanks enough
for all the help and kindness that was shown to myself and resident at such a critical time.

Mum has been at The Gables nearly 3 years. Can't fault the care, The Manager and her staff give to Mum and the other residents.
They all try and make it very homely and visitors are always welcome at any time.

I have always found The Gables to be very welcoming and smells lovely as you enter. The atmosphere is very homely and my relative is very well looked after with kindness and lots of patience. The food is very plentiful with lots of tea, coffee, biscuits always on offer. The residents are well entertained
every week.

Since my darling wife came to live here, I have seen her wellbeing improve enormously.
I am very sad that she is no longer able to be at home with me but I have witnessed the wonderful management and staff caring for all the residents and I know that my wife will be made comfortable and will be looked
after for her remaining days, which is a great comfort for myself and our daughter and her sisters.

I have visited The Gables on 4 occasions in January 2017 and found the staff very friendly and helpful with the home well presented.
The staff were always busy with their duties coming across as caring, patient and helpful to the residents I encountered.
The last occasion I arrived at lunchtime
and I was most impressed with the presentation and aroma of the cooked meal. The dining area was cleared of all mobility aids and the residents assembled for lunch making for a relaxed and orderly atmosphere.
My relative has been a very difficult individual, taking a time to settle in, but the staff persevered and now he has tempered his behaviour.

My Mother has recently moved to The Gables, no longer able to live in her own home due to dementia. The care staff give at The Gables has been a combination of professional, caring and friendly. Whilst ensuring all the necessary paperwork is complete, care plans etc.
The priority has been the safety,
care and comfort for my Mother.
All staff I have seen demonstrate gentle kindness and care to the residents, at meal times, during activities planned each day and in giving personal care.
This is a cosy, friendly, yet professional care environment that I would recommend to friends and family.

My sister became incapable of caring for herself and a care home had to be selected. After many inspections of care home around Hampshire, The Gables stood head and shoulders above all the others for the following reasons; It is immaculately clean specially the kitchens. The residents are happy and
communicative, always well dressed and clean. Active involvement is constant and caring of individual needs. My sister is a different person to six months ago, she loves the home and is very content. I am very pleased that the right choice has been made.

This is really a home and not just a rest "home". The atmosphere is always calm. Nothing is too much trouble - my Mum is treated like a Queen! Should be made as an example to all "homes" how to care for important people. Thanks

My step mother has been at The Gables for over 2 months now and I can only praise the way she has been treated. All the staff are amazing. They treat the residents as equal and always have time for a quick chat which is very important to them. The food is very good and well presented. Occasionally,
my step mother can't sleep and even the night staff are very kind and ask her if she would like to go downstairs with them for a while. So overall, I have nothing but praise for The Gables and the way the manager runs it.

Having visited other care homes, when we entered The Gables you could feel the friendliness of everyone. Staff and residents were smiling and happy. Everyone was helpful and made you feel at home. Mum, who was very reluctant to go into a care home has been happier than we have seen her for many months.
All my questions were dealt with in a very professional manner and I cannot praise staff and management too highly.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.572)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.572) out of 10 for The Gables Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.972 for The Gables Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.972
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Gables Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
