I visit with the residents daughter. The staff are always helpful and kind. The medical care is reassuring. The resident appreciates his care and he's settled well. His church connection is much appreciated, god bless you for doing a wonderful job.

I always find the care home clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and keep me up to date with Mum's care. It's nice to see someone on reception again as a face to here when I arrive to visit Mum.
I only put good for facilities and activities as far as I'm aware mum doesn't leave her room and I'm not
sure what activities are brought to her. Although I'm sure she is happy and always has music playing in her room.

I really cannot rate Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home highly enough. The home is warm, clean and the staff and manager like extended family members. The surroundings are gorgeous and the rooms airy bright and spacious.
My mother has mixed dementia and so is extremely vulnerable, but I rest easy knowing
she is safe, clean well catered and cared for. Thank you to all for the love and compassion you show to mum.

The staff and manager at Old Alresford Cottage cared for my father in his last few months before passing away. I cannot fault the care of my father, nor the support offered to me, my sister and mother throughout his residence - and especially during his final fortnight before passing away. The last
couple of weeks were very challenging, but the staff were outstanding and we remain incredibly grateful that my father was looked after with such care, compassion and professionalism during this difficult time.

To date, we have found the care, consideration and respect of my mother very good. She has been encouraged to join in activities and meet with other residents, which she found difficult at first.

My mother has been a full-time resident since August 2018 and is very happy. Living locally, we can take her out either including meals or for an hour or two - before lockdown!
The home is exceptionally well managed, with diligent caring staff. This is particularly so during this crisis. They added
restrictions well before government lockdown, always had plenty of PPE and have tight disciplines for checking staff as they start shifts and during each day. Gives relatives huge confidence.

Thank you for the kind words. We were the first home to lock down and have been Covid-19 free.

Old Alresford Cottage has been wonderful, looking after my mother through stages of her dementia. I have been particularly impressed when my mother has been acutely ill and the staff have been exemplary, keeping me in touch with her progress or problems. They are usually very personable except when
they are short-staffed which is understandable. I trust my mother’s welfare to them happily and I know my brother and sister feel the same.

All the members of the care home staff are really lovely, caring and really do a fantastic job - not just with the virus but always.
My Brother and his wife are really happy; residents always say how happy they are at the Old Alresford Care Home. The way that they have tackled the virus has been in
our eyes - brilliant.
So thank you so much; always a clap for you all on Thursday evenings.
Stay safe everyone.

I cannot speak more highly of the care provided by the staff of the Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home to their residents. The staff are highly professional and caring. As the daughter of a resident who has been there for nearly three years, I am pleased to witness the continuity of staff and the rapport
they develop with the residents. The staff also take the trouble to know the visitors and always very helpful when I ring to see how my father is. The home itself is comfortable and very clean. My father seems to be very happy and settled here.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives at Old Alresford Cottage. My mum is always treated with love and respect. The staff are very good at keeping me informed about how mum is and discuss her care with me on a regular basis. Everyone is always very welcoming, cheerful and caring and keen to
ensure everyone feels at home - cups of tea and biscuits are always on offer. Family and friends are normally welcome to visit at any time although due to the current situation this is not possible at the moment. I feel the home is well managed and the recent sensible decision to close the home to visitors was taken at an early stage to protect staff and residents.

Old Alresford care home has surpassed any expectations I had with regard to the welfare of my mother who has dementia. When entering the home 18 months ago she was frail and extremely confused. She has improved beyond recognition and this is due not only to the incredible care she has received but the
genuine love the staff have for the residents. There are trips to garden centres, out for ice cream, tea and cake and lots of singing and games. My mum is now alert, feels safe and is so happy. Her room is lovely and everything she needs is provided for. A hairdresser comes twice a week, as well as regular visits from a chiropodist and opticians. GP's come to see all residents on a weekly basis to check everyone is well. There are also lots of pets to love.
The manager is superb and family members and friends are kept regularly informed of everything happening. Nothing is too much trouble. I am beyond grateful to every member of staff for their incredible care and genuine compassion. Thank you.

My Mother has been in the care of the manager and all the staff at The Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home since June 2018. We are so pleased with the care and support Mum and we have had. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and we are always kept up to date with any needs or issues. The home itself is
always warm and welcoming, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, even when they are very busy around mealtimes etc. Overall, we have peace of mind knowing that Mum is being so well looked after by such a caring and professional team at the Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.781)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.781) out of 10 for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.667 for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (8 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.667
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.114 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.114
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
