All staff from senior management down were always more than helpful and only too willing to give assistance and support not only to my mother but the whole family.

My mother was shown the utmost dignity and respect and welcomed and integrated into the wider care home family and community with patience

and understanding.

A smaller care home situated in the heart of the Hampshire countryside in a wonderful location, with wonderful caring staff who always go that extra mile.

What a lovely place, I definitely want to go there when I get old!!. The staff were kind and caring, they showed great care for my Mum, a fantastic group of people who showed dignity and care for everyone. Nothing was too much trouble for them they went over and above and made sure my Mum's last days
were comfortable and peaceful. Thank you to the manager and his Angels.

Old Alresford Cottage is a fantastic care home and was the ideal place for my mother-in-law to live. She suffered with Alzheimer's and the care and support from all the carers and office staff was second to none - we couldn't have wished for a better place for the end of her life. Every time we visited
she would tell us how happy she was, how kind the carers were and from our own observations we could see that it was a happy place. There was plenty of activity and interaction and often laughter amongst the residents and staff. I would and have highly recommended this home to other people.

Staff, care and facilities are excellent with particular praise going to staff for involving my mother and for being flexible whilst I wait for deputy-ship.

My only criticism is that a man keeps entering my mother's room and has done so on my visits.

This is not a 5-star hotel. It is a warm, loving and caring home offering good support to the residents and also their families. Each resident is treated with respect and their personal needs are catered for. I know that she is in good hands and that I never need to worry.

The home has a lovely atmosphere that is felt immediately upon entering. The staff are caring and compassionate. They treat the residents with dignity and respect. Both my parents have lived at the home for a total of over seven years between them. I couldn't find a better place for them to live.

My father was a resident of Old Alresford Cottage for four years. During that time he was looked after by a very caring and compassionate team of permanent carers. This team was led by amazing team leaders whose dedication to their job showed in their smiling faces and kind words proffered during what
was sometimes very difficult times as my father became older and frailer. I put my trust in the management and carers to give my father the best support they could to make his final years as comfortable and safe as possible and this they did for which I thank them enormously.

I have nothing but praise to give to Arlesford care Home. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and professional at all times. The atmosphere is warm and cosy! The relationship between staff and residents is lovely. Both night and day staff work extremely well together and their skills are of a
high standard. Management is very good, extremely friendly. My father is very settled and is well liked I believe. It is nice to see him interact with all the staff and other residents.

We looked at many care homes before placing my mother in care. When placing mother in a care home (the first) it seemed okay but after 2 months she wasn't happy so we continued our search. Out initial sight of the Old Alresford Cottage was very favourable and after 10 mins walkabout we felt very good
about it. There is a genuine honest feel about the home and after mother has been cared for here for two and a half years they have earned our trust and friendship with the home and each carer and some residents.

My mother (now 97) came here in august 2014 after being in another home. This home is first class. The care, concern and attention given to all residents is a joy to see. The staff are full of kindness, the professional yet compassionate approach from the manager to the maintenance guys leaves me with
the peace of mind that mum is in the best hands. My mum was an isolationist when she arrived, wanting to spend much of the day in her room. Encouragement and activities made her a happier person within 3 weeks. Mum is now coming to the end of her life but the palliative care here is second to none. This is a superb place.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.781)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.781) out of 10 for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.667 for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (8 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.667
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.114 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Old Alresford Cottage Rest Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.114
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
