Dementia care has been inconsistent. It was extremely difficult to gain access during the pandemic until I liaised with the head office. The care that the staff delivers is good but the information provided via management was poor. Care assessments and doctor's appointments are continually performed without family/POA being aware despite our request and LPA, medications have been administered without informed consent. The dementia unit care pricing is opaque with seven levels and no clarity as to how residents qualify for the levels or explanation of these levels This makes them more expensive in the long term once in the dementia unit than most alternatives in the area that I’ve investigated. Other homes offer room rates, which are more than Sunrise, but include care so care costs do not increase.
Mum is well cared for. The facilities are good, the staff friendly and helpful, and the environment is very pleasant. The garden is lovely, and the entertainment and trips are delightful. The food is excellent.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Sunrise of Esher. Your feedback is important to us, as is the care and well-being of all of our residents. We take great pride in ensuring we deliver high-quality care and facilities to make a difference to our residents and their families lives.
My prolonged stay at Sunrise of Esher has been very happy. I have recovered so much better from my operation (hip replacement). So well looked after by all the caring staff. Very comfortable and extremely well fed.
Thank you for your kind words. We believe we have a fantastic team here at Sunrise of Esher, and your recognition of this is appreciated by every member of our team. By having a whole-home approach here at Sunrise, we believe this creates a relaxed and friendly environment for our residents to call home, and we are so glad you have settled in well and feel cared for.
Mum was initially having respite care in the lead up to a hip replacement operation. Unfortunately, she didn't recover as well as expected, and the Sunrise staff have been excellent in arranging extensions to her stay at Sunrise twice, at very short notice. Their help and support have been invaluable. She has felt safe and well cared for, which for her family has provided complete peace of mind. Thank you all so much.
The team here at Sunrise of Esher would firstly like to thank you for your kind words. We strive, as a team, to work closely with our residents so we can provide the very best care for each individual in our home, and we are glad to have made a difference to your mother's care.
This is the second time I am submitting a review. The last time related to my mother arriving at Sunrise of Esher in October 2020. Sadly, we have reached the end of our connection with the 'family' at Sunrise, and we will miss their friendship and support. My mother has gone through a prolonged period of 'end of life' care. This was carried out by the Dr and his team as well as the care staff at Sunrise with extreme sensitivity, and dare I say it, love. All was put in place to make her comfortable and pain-free. Nothing was too much trouble. She retained her dignity and identity, which is so important to any resident and their family. The management bent over backwards to accommodate our needs during the Covid lockdowns, which was a privilege, not afforded to all care home residents around the country. Thank you, Sunrise, for helping us through a significant time in our lives. We will always be indebted to you.
Firstly, please accept our sincere condolences for your recent loss and thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Sunrise of Esher – particularly at such a difficult time. The team here are so grateful that your mother had such a positive experience of the home, and this extended to family members and friends. Your kind words are deeply appreciated and will be passed on to the team.
From the moment my stepmother arrived at Sunrise, as a very reluctant resident, the care and understanding from the team was superb. Thanks to the attention she received, the situation improved rapidly, and Sunrise became her home. This was a great relief for me and the wider family. It made her final year contented and, above all, dignified. Her dignity was so important to her, and thanks to the care from the staff, she preserved this to the end.

After visiting my Nan today she is very happy at Sunrise. She enjoys the activities and all the staff are extremely friendly. Everything is clean and I can see she is being well looked after.
Our activities team here at Sunrise of Esher have developed creative ways to keep our residents entertained and stimulated. Your recognition of this is appreciated by the whole team. We look forward to inviting you along to our activities and events soon.
Visited my cousin who seems to have settled in very well. She says the staff are very helpful and she is enjoying all the activities. She is also enjoying the variety of food on offer.
Our dining team will be thrilled with your lovely comments. Here at Sunrise of Esher, we cater for each resident based on preferences and dietary requirements. Hearing this positive feedback is greatly appreciated by everyone in the community.
Since my uncle has been living at Sunrise of Esher, he has been looked after so well. He has thrived in the last year with the amazing care and great food. Whenever we email with a question, we get an immediate response. The visits have always been dealt with in a very professional manner, especially since Covid. Big thanks to one particular lady for you your help and support over last year.
Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review, our team members will be thrilled to hear your positive feedback. Here at Sunrise of Esher, we pride ourselves on understanding our residents needs to respect their independence and give a real sense of being at home.
Originally, Mum was in relatively good health and enjoyed all the facilities such as the pretty garden and the bistro for a cappuccino with friends, and the wide range of entertainment, games and trips available free to residents. As her health declined, she had to give up some of these but remained impressed with the total commitment, respect and good humour of the staff who looked after her. The care given adapted to meet her changing needs, so that we did not have to think of moving her to a dedicated nursing home. Even when she was very ill or confused, the staff would always make time to share a chat and a smile and check if she needed anything. Many of them could make her laugh right up to the last few days, always spotting when she needed the doctor, even when her stiff upper lip led her to tell them she was fine.
Mum often remarked on how lucky she was to live at Sunrise.

I am sure everyone is exhausted and working in terribly difficult circumstances but this has clearly not been to the detriment of the levels of care the residents are offered or the sense of community they feel.
Sunrise of Esher appreciate moving into a care home can be an unsettling time. This is why we take the time to engage with family members and friends of the resident to make the process as smooth as possible, to get to know the resident on a personal level. We are pleased your grandfather has settled in well.
My father is settling into Sunrise of Esher so well and so fast and we are extremely grateful to the excellent and very kind team there. My father needed care suddenly when his carer fell ill and Sunrise were incredibly helpful and accommodating, both in helping Dad to move in quickly and also in doing everything possible to make his initial quarantine as easy as possible for him, particularly given Covid-19 restrictions. Their Enhanced Visitor Scheme is excellent and worked really well. Dad's been at Sunrise for 5 weeks now. His medical and daily care is excellent, he's enjoying the food, he's enthusiastically joining in with the many varied activities and is obviously settling in really well. The Sunrise of Esher team are warm, kind, professional and efficient and have done everything we could have hoped for to answer our queries, meet our concerns and to care for Dad and keep him safe and happy. Thank you all very much indeed.

I think Sunrise has been amazing over this extremely difficult period and it has been so reassuring to know that my aunt has been well looked after. All the staff are so accommodating and friendly, and they really go that extra mile. Always well informed as well. Totally recommend.
Our care teams are central to everything we do in our home, your recognition of their passionate and skilled work is fantastic to hear. Thank you for your kind words, these will be shared with the rest of the team here at Sunrise of Esher.
Sunrise is doing a wonderful job looking after my granny, particularly during these difficult times. It is reassuring to know (and see) that she is doing really well and is very happy. I am also very satisfied that Granny is being kept safe.

I'm so pleased my mother has settled in so well. She is more engaged with other people than she has been for a long time and she is happy to be here.
At Sunrise of Esher our ultimate goal is to provide the best possible level of care we can. From our carers, nurses and activities team we strive to achieve a sociable and comfortable community our residents can call home. We are so happy to see the improvements made by your mother.
Food and costs of extras (such as newspapers) is an issue.
Thank you for your feedback. Costs for newspapers are only charged if a resident prefers to have their own, we do have several community newspapers that are free of charge. At Sunrise we pride ourselves on offering a wide variety of dining options for our residents. Whilst we have a structured menu...
This year has been a very difficult one for everyone, but the level of care for my mother during the pandemic has been excellent. I have not had to worry about her despite not being able to see her for several months. The staff have all tried to make it as easy as possible to continue as normally as we can.
Thank you for your kind words. We believe we have a fantastic team here at Sunrise of Esher and your recognition of this is appreciated by every member of our team. Meet the Team (8)

I joined here as a Senior Care Assistant in 2013, progressed to Reminiscence Coordinator, managed the Assisted Living Department, and now I am overseeing both departments as a Deputy Manager since September 2019. I also supported the General Manager with Clinical Requirements and the Activities Coordinator with our Activities Programme. In August 2023 I was promoted to General Manager position.
I have been given the opportunity to develop my skills, learn and progress. I am a qualified physiotherapist with a hospital and private sector background. I hold Diploma Level 5 in Health and Social Care. I am passionate about care and dedicated to providing a high-quality service tailored to each person's individual needs. I am proud to be part of the Esher Team.

I joined Esher Manor as a Senior Care Assistant Wellbeing in February 2019. I was then promoted to Dementia Care Manager in November 2019. I have been working in the care sector since 2003, and I was originally a nurse in my home country. I have managed two Residential Care Homes previously, and I hold a Level 4 in Health and Social Care. I enjoy working with elderly people, especially those with dementia, and the smile on their faces gives me a sense of achievement. My priority is to have a good relationship with residents, their families and staff to ensure that they feel welcome and at home.

I have been working in the Care industry for over 20 years and thoroughly enjoy it.
I've had such a warm welcome from all Residents and Team Members at Esher Manor, and I look forward to getting to know all our lovely Residents and Family members.
I have completed my NVQ level 5, and am very passionate about end of life care.

Hi, I'm Joanna. I joined Esher Manor in February 2019 and can honestly say I have never looked back. Every day is a different day, and I have the privilege of helping families choose the right care home for their loved ones.
From the point that a family makes an enquiry to Esher Manor, I will be able to help with any questions whether it be for short-term respites or permanent care.
We love to get involved in Local Community projects at Esher Manor, so I'd love to hear from you if you're holding an event, or think we can help out.

I joined in March 2019. Before starting here, I worked within the public care sector as a Human Resources Assistant and finance and Payroll Manager for over 20 years. I enjoy getting to know residents, families and staff. I support the General Manager and office administration and my door is always open.

I joined Esher Manor in April 2022. I have previously worked within the group for 7 years altogether.
I'm a passionate cook with an eye for detail who has worked in the care sector since 2011, where I gained my knowledge, experience and qualifications.‘PASSION’ was always my top core value.
Cooking is an ‘ART’. As in art, you mix colours and a beautiful picture manifest so in cooking, you have to be creative, full of passion, and imaginative and your meals will be like a piece of art beautifully presented on the plate.
I'm excited to be part of the Avery Collection Family, working with our lovely residents and their families.

I joined Esher Manor in June 2021 as a maintenance coordinator. It is my first time working in a caring environment, and I find it very rewarding. I look after the building, repairing or replacing what is broken whilst looking after everyone’s health and safety.

I joined the company in 2015, and I'm delighted to say that I work in such a wonderful caring environment.
My passion is elderly care, everyone is unique and has an interesting story to tell.
I always try my best to make sure that our Residents receive the best care and that all of our Team Members feel valued.
I am privileged to have such a fantastic team, making the environment warm and friendly, and a home from home for us too.
