From entering to see family, you get the warm, welcoming feel of the home. Staff are so gentle, kind and patient with residents. You only have to listen even with the curtain closed, the way staff chat with residents, and the choices given. We are so happy that staff care for and treat residents like
their own families. Food is homemade and beautiful. Entertainment etc is great. Always something to please. We would never consider it anywhere else.

My mum looks very happy when we go to see her the majority of the time.
The staff and management keep me informed the majority of the time of any concerns they have with her health and well-being.
I have no major concerns about the home or the staff and management they are very kind caring and supportive
to my mum and to us as a family and would not wish for our mum to live anywhere else.

Most amazing, caring and considerate staff. They consistently go above and beyond for my grandma, I can't explain how amazing they are. The care and dignity I see them treat every person in their home is outstanding. Dementia is a cruel thing, but I know the staff genuinely care for and look after my
grandma and give her cuddles when my family can't be there to do so. They make the residents feel at home and like they are special and cared for, there's nothing more I could wish for from them.

Can't recommend Willow Bank enough. My nana moved in a few months ago and absolutely loves it. Daily activities, she raves about the food, she made lovely friends. The staff are amazing, very caring and are lovely with nana and the other residents.
I wouldn't want her to go anywhere else.

My father-in-law is a resident at Willow Bank and has been for six months now. The staff are incredible - they are always looking out for him and his needs, from the music he listens to that's his favourite, to the morning bacon sandwich that he likes! They are so attentive and I couldn't wish for him
to be looked after anywhere else. The activities are daily and all the residents take part. Christmas time is always special and local children come in to sing carols, in fact, music and singing are very popular for the residents and I know my father-in-law enjoys it. I couldn't recommend Willow Bank highly enough to anyone that needs a care home for a loved one.

My mother-in-law who I am also Limited Power Of Attorney as we are very close, was first admitted to Willowbank when my father-in-law was admitted to hospital with Covid. My mother-in-law at that time already had dementia and needed 24-hour care which she was receiving at home with her husband's carers
and family. This was a sudden incident and the whole process was upsetting and daunting and at that time Covid restrictions were still in place. The staff and managers made the whole process as pleasant as the situation could allow. It's like a home from home and I've since then felt supported and kept up to date and with a small home with long-serving staff it feels more like leaving her with another family.

My mother lived at Willow Bank for about six months and I was very happy with the home. The staff are without exception friendly and helpful and I could tell they genuinely enjoyed their work and wanted to do the best that they could for Mum. The home is quite small which means that the staff get to
know each resident personally. I was never able to enter the main part of the home due to Covid restrictions, however, the visiting area and garden were well maintained and clean. I know Mum enjoyed the food at Willow Bank and the staff baked a special cake for Mum's birthday which went down very well. Although visiting hours were restricted, again due to Covid, there was rarely any problem getting to see Mum at a convenient time. The staff were also very helpful in taking Mum to medical appointments outside the home and were accommodating when we collected her for day trips and visits to my house. I warmly recommend Willow Bank to anyone looking for a friendly, well-run care home in the area.

Small very homely care home, but with enough space to find a quiet area.
Individual needs catered for, dignity and respect for the individuals maintained within a caring and jolly atmosphere.
All staff appear to enjoy their working environment which is a bonus.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.381) out of 10 for Willow Bank Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.881 for Willow Bank Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.881
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willow Bank Residential Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
