The home is absolutely fantastic all round. I visit most days and see exactly how hard the staff work, they're loving and always friendly. I have seen residents abuse staff verbally and physically, including abuse from my own mother, the staff are brilliant at dealing with it. The staff treat the residents
like they're family. The home contact with any update, even when I have visited earlier that day. When my mum first went in the home, she was so pleased to see me, she rushed across her room to see me, fell, and broke her arm, if I wasn't there the staff could have been blamed for not looking after her. I can honestly say every single member of staff in Bramwell is loving, friendly and take pride in their work at every level!

The first time we walked in we just knew we had found the right place. Everything
just felt right and it was spotlessly clean. Staff couldn't be more attentive and the manager is excellent and very approachable manager. Mum and Dad were both residents and had rooms across the corridor from each other
which was lovely for them and us. Mum has recently passed away but the care and respect they have shown to us, especially on the day of the funeral, was exemplary. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
Reply from Mable Joloza, Home Manager at Bramwell Care HomeThank you very much for the lovely comment. Bramwell strive to provide excellent care at all times to the highest standards. We promote the values of person-centred care to all our residents and make sure the home is clean to the highest standards at all times!

My mother was unwell and had a fall on a Tuesday. I was informed and it was explained to me that a urine infection had been diagnosed and antibiotics prescribed by the GP. On Friday mother was visited by her sister who was concerned about her presentation. My brother phoned the home on Saturday am.
Staff said that mum was fine and was eating and drinking normally. I visited Saturday pm, and found mum fully dressed, unconscious in her chair. She was very difficult to rouse and was not weight-bearing, (prior to this she was chatting, eating and mobilising with a stick). I discussed this with staff and could get little information, other than 'she has finished her antibiotics'! I stated to the deputy that I would be calling for an ambulance. Paramedics took mum to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with sepsis. She stayed there for 5 weeks, then returned to a different care home. She was never the same and has recently passed. Why did the staff not pick up that she was unwell and unresponsive?
Reply from Mable Joloza, Home Manager at Bramwell Care HomeHi,
Firstly, we would like to say how saddened we are to receive the news about your mum’s recent passing; our deepest condolences go out to you and your loved ones. During the period of your mother’s stay in October 2022, Bramwell Care Home staff and management ensured that all correct procedures were followed to ensure that your mum’s health was number one priority. The team contacted the GP without delay, followed the correct medical administration procedures and checked to ensure she was monitored regularly. The diagnosis of Sepsis was only made known to the home by the hospital two weeks after her admission. We know this is a difficult time for you, but please know that you may discuss this further with us at any time, should you wish to do so.
Kindest regards

My aunt has been a resident for 3.5 years. At all times she has been treated with care and dignity. The property is beautifully maintained and there is never any smell from bodily functions. The home is in a quiet location and security is excellent. I cannot offer enough praise for all the staff and
management.

I cannot fault the care shown my father in Bramwell Care Home. The staff are genuinely interested in his welfare and go out of their way to see that he has everything he needs. They have succeeded in creating a warm, friendly environment for him to live in. He is always treated with respect and kindness.
It is such a comfort to know he is well cared for.

I am extremely satisfied with the cleanliness and hygiene of the building. It can be a depressing place but this is alleviated by the professional but very friendly attitude of the staff. There is always time for a bit of cheeky banter. The rooms are adequately furnished, safe and functional. The food
quality varies but there is always a choice of menu. At times there does seem to be a lack of communication and information between staff leading to changes in the times residents are expecting to get up or go to bed. When difficulties have arisen they have always been dealt with to my satisfaction.

We are so grateful to all the staff at Bramwell Care Home for looking after our aunt during the last two years of her life. Their kindness, compassion and care were exemplary and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have found such a great home. Our aunt, an extremely strong-willed and stubborn woman
- God bless her, always praised them highly for their humour, care and conversations conceding that sometimes she could be a little too stubborn. We received regular communications during her final weeks with us and we find it hard to articulate just how thankful we are to such hard-working and caring people.
Thank you so much, Bramwell.

It is now three months, since my wife passed on to a much better place, than anywhere on this earth, even Bramwell. Yet, her four year stay at Bramwell, when she needed 24/7 support, was the best thing that could have happened to her. She needed people around her and she found them; she needed people
she could call friends, who had similar needs to her own and she found them; she needed a new place she could call home and she was in one; a home, where she would receive the care, support and companionship she needed, that could be no longer supplied at our family home, even with the help of some wonderful carers, five days a week. Well done Bramwell and many grateful thanks to the manager and all her staff.

My sister entered Bramwell during the 2020 lockdown. She has been looked after very well and has settled well. Always treated with kindness and consideration. The home is always spotlessly clean and has a very pleasant aroma. The only small downside is that communication could be better.

My Mother had been a resident of Bramwell Care Home for two years before she passed away a few weeks ago surrounded by the incredibly caring, dedicated staff of Bramwell. Moving a loved one into a care facility is an incredibly difficult decision to make and one that we did not take lightly. Over the
two years, Bramwell continually surpassed every expectation we had. Every single team member we came into contact with was empathetic, professional, and understanding and the level of communication was exemplary. The thing that meant the most to our entire family was the care they showed my mum. She was treated as an individual, with dignity, respect, and love. Bramwell truly was her home and we will be eternally grateful for the dedicated professionals who work there and take their jobs very seriously. Honestly, we couldn't have had a better experience. A++ Bramwell and thank you for taking such good care of "Nan."

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.957)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.957) out of 10 for Bramwell Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 108 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 108 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Bramwell Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (1238 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 1291 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bramwell Care Home is based on 108 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 93 registered maximum number of service users is 18.6, which has been reached with 108 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
