I like shopping, going out, watching TV and eating. I sometimes want to be on my own and sometimes with everyone else.
The food is really nice and there is always a birthday to celebrate. I like the church and the ladies who give me communion.

Everyone is very nice here. The staff are friendly and kind. I enjoy the food and lovely desserts, also the musical activities. I can sit in the lounge and enjoy the company of the other residents or sit in my lovely room which I feel is very much my own.

What I like is the music, the entertainment, going out shopping and going to the fast food restaurant. I like clothes and chocolates, and cola.
The staff are nice and help me to do the things I find hard.
The place is colourful and lots of things I like are on the walls which make me feel happy.
I've
got lots of friends here and I am so happy and I like my room and the things I have around me.

I am in my room most of the time due to my illness. I enjoy doing my art and the staff always help me when I need something. They are all kind and I feel that I am well looked after.
The food is good and plentiful and the cakes are a treat.

I am very happy here. I used to be more active and go out a lot but now I don't feel I want to and I am contented to walk around the home and meet lots of people to talk to. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
My sister comes to see me but I have so many people and places to go in the home to keep me
walking.

I sometimes get confused but I am OK with everyone around me. I feel safe and if I need to I can ask for help when I don't feel well.
I like seeing my friends and speaking to my family in Ireland. The food is OK and there is always something happening to keep me busy.

Happy and safe is how I feel. I like people and like them to come and talk to me. There are music and board games, games with balls and bingo.
Sometimes I join in, sometimes I like to watch.
I don't go outside but I can see outside to the garden from my room and the lounge. Maybe when the weather
is warmer I'll go into the garden.

I am happy at the care home and with the staff who look after me really well. This is my home and I enjoy when people spend time with me and talk to me. I can't do very much but I feel very safe and comfortable. I can't remember sometimes but the staff make me feel better by reassuring me that I don't

The quality of the care service is excellent. The Asian unit is brilliant - daily activity of going to do Satsang is brilliant - food is very nice. Staff are really good especially in Cedar Unit as our experience. When visitors arrive they are very well looked after, from reception staff - care staff
- to administration - kitchen staff. Sadly my mum passed away on 27th Dec. The two ladies on duty that evening were very professional, kind and caring to us. Thank you.

My uncle has been in at Birchwood Grange since losing his wife in 2015.


Having Dementia at 62 then losing his wife with whom he had been with since age 16 was a terrible blow and it was decided that we needed to find a care home that could provide a home that felt like it was his " home ".
We searched

and found Birchwood Grange since he arrived the place has improved year on year and the last couple of years with the new management team the standards have improved yet again and in my mind, this has been an exceptional time. He has benefited in so many ways from this, the quality of the staff, he has his privacy and autonomy whilst the incentives of activities help him remain active in his daily life. The new design and decoration and the surroundings are absolutely amazing and helps him enormously in making it easier to interpret and navigate the building and grounds in safety. I can from the heart recommend Birchwood Grange.

My father arrived at Birchwood Grange just before Christmas unable to feed or drink for himself. All I can say is that in a matter of a couple of weeks my father seems to have come alive!! He now eats and able to drink without anyone having to do it for him. Thank you so much to all staff/carers at
Birchwood for your kindness and care with my dad. My family and I are very happy to have been able to get dad into a wonderful care home like Birchwood. It's a very hard job you all have to do and my family and I very much appreciate it!! Many thanks

Birchwood Grange what a fantastic place for my Mum to spend her final few weeks. The staff were kind and considerate, friendly and fun, they were always on hand not just for Mum but for us as a family to give us a reassuring hug or just a knowing smile.

Staff are very helpful and friendly. Lots of activities advertised on the notice board. Rooms very clean, upstairs dining room very light but the heating is far too hot!!

They have lovely staff who keep the home clean. They help with activities for the residents. Food is tasty. Laundry lady does the washing and ironing for the residents. Safety is in place and the residents are happy.

Birchwood Grange Care Home was the most caring care home I have ever seen. I would go numerous times a week to visit my father on many occasions taking my young son along with me. Every time we went my son was happy to come. From the moment we entered the place it was immaculate with a fish tank, flowers
on the desk. Whenever we walked through the home during the day the residents were all up and dressed. Food time was not traumatic, the staff cared so much and made sure everyone was well fed. The decor of the walls was beautiful, especially the Alzheimer's unit. It showed pictures of the past and they wanted it to be a home away from home. My father was not in the home for long and went downhill fast, however they were always there for us either with a chair, cup of tea or even a hug! Even the day he passed away all the staff were so caring, compassionate and showed my father the utmost dignity. The care home was always safe, secure. From the outside, you wouldn't know it is a care home.

My husband who had Alzheimer's and was in Birchwood Grange Care home for the last 5 months of his life was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The staff at the care home not only cared about him but my family also. I was extremely happy that he was able to spend the last months of his life
in a place like that. It was a home away from home. We visited him every day, sometimes numerous times a day and the staff's care and compassion went past the call of duty. One such example was when my husband went to the hospital with pneumonia on a Friday afternoon the manager of the care home came all the way to the hospital to pick me up. The home was always spotless. The gardens are amazing, the food was always good and the staff were always pleasant. The residents were always clean and well looked after. Also, the activities were always nice, numerous times a week people were singing or doing other activities there.

I can be very difficult at times but I like it here and I like the activities and the team. I get depressed and the staff take time to talk to me and take me out. The staff have been very kind to me and my brothers take part in the activities with me and this home has made me feel so much better.

The food is lovely, the staff are really nice and friendly. I think this is a wonderful home, everyone is so nice. I love my room with the pictures and I like to go outside to the garden. I'm not strong enough to walk yet but everyone is willing to take me to where I want to go.

I'm in the Asian unit, where everyone talks to me. I enjoy the temple in the morning and the music. My favourite is Bingo. I like visiting the temple when we get to go out. I like talking to the volunteers who are really nice.

I’m Kerry, General Manager at Birchwood Grange Care Home, with nearly 30 years in health and social care. My background includes domiciliary care, residential services, and supported living for people with learning disabilities. I’ve led home care services and most recently worked with a charity where I was proud to oversee CQC Outstanding-rated services.


Honesty, integrity, and respect guide my work and are at the heart of everything I do. I’m passionate about championing the care profession and supporting staff to deliver the best possible care.
