My brother has been at Queens Court for many years now, and the care and support they give him, and my sister and myself, is second to none! All the staff I’ve ever met are so caring and patient, especially the lovely lifestyle lead - she really is amazing! She’s taken my brother under her wing and takes him out, chooses new clothes with him, sorts his room out with new bed linen, etc - a truly wonderful person. I can’t thank everybody enough there. I live quite a way away so very rarely visit my brother at Queens Court, but knowing he is so cared for makes me feel very confident that I did the right thing choosing Queens Court, and I don’t feel quite so guilty that I don’t see him a lot! Thanking all the lovely staff there - you’re all so special!

I write to express our grateful appreciation from our family for the lovely efforts by the staff at Queens Court (especially one staff member in particular) for the food, birthday cake and birthday decorations put out for our mother on her 89th birthday last Saturday 25/11/23 and providing an area for all our family and children to share this special day with Mum and Dad. Thank you kindly.

We love visiting Nan, it’s a very welcoming and family-friendly care home. The staff are lovely and very attentive. The fireworks night was amazing, the fire eater was fantastic. We have attended a lot of the family days and they always make us feel very welcome.

My mother was admitted here last Friday. She came from the hospital (2 months stay). She was in an extremely poor condition. In only 5 days of being here, her health has greatly improved, she is eating more and her mental health has improved. All staff here have been wonderful. Her room is lovely. Thanks to all in your care home. Special mention to one particular member of staff (nurse).

I attended the Silver Sunday event that was organised by the home on Sunday the 1st of October. This was organised by a particular member of staff and it was excellent.
We started off with a Sunday roast that was absolutely delicious and then followed by a gateau and ice cream. Plenty to eat and drink with more for those that wanted it.
The entertainment was first class and the large audience was very appreciative of the dancing and singing girls group. What was nice was that the group of girls encouraged the elderly residents, where possible, to get up and dance or sing. It was lovely to see these residents totally immersed in this equals great therapy. We then had sandwiches and the most unbelievably delicious strawberry tarts.
Well done to the particular member of staff and her colleagues for a fantastic afternoon and our mum absolutely loved it.

A great standard so I won’t hesitate to attend further events and thoroughly recommend Queens Court.

Always a friendly face and my relative likes all the carers. They take the time to get to know all the residents and tailor their needs at the home to their liking or disliking. Easy to speak to carers about any issues they always keep in contact if any issues arise.

The daytime carers I have experienced when visiting have been lovely. But I have witnessed the nighttime carers being rough with my friend, when getting her on and off the commode and also when helping her into bed. Banging her head against the headboard and hurting her legs when lifting them. Leaving her in tears and she's then anxious about calling them during the night. The 1-star rating relates to night carers only.

Review from Lynda D (Friend of Resident) published on 6 September 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My friend has been a resident since February and has been treated abysmally by most staff right from the start. She has to wait sometimes up to 2 hours when she calls for the commode and is often told she should wait because it's meal time or meds time, who can decide what time they will need the toilet? Several of the staff are so rough with her that she's afraid to let them put her to bed. Many staff have no idea how to use the necessary hoist and she, or her visitors, have to tell them how. She is afraid to have her grievances escalated for fear of repercussions, this fear has been confirmed by a few of the good members of staff. There are often days when she actually gets forgotten at meal times, she doesn't need help so it's not as though they have to spend time with her, just give her her meal.

I've written two reviews on other platforms, but was asked to remove one as they weren't happy I wasn't happy! That's not what reviews are about! So I wrote another, saying I would give a good review when it was up to standard. Especially what the price is these days. I cannot see the second review! I will report to Local Guiding, Trip Advisor and Google.
Every time I enter the doors, I feel suffocated by lack of air and depart with a headache! This isn't my imagination. Apart from the animosity from some staff and not one visit have I had without a confrontation. People are afraid to speak up as they fear their relative etc. will have poor treatment.

I really try to avoid the few staff who are insecure and unhappy in their work/life. Some are dedicated and kind. I'll continue this review when I've had time there with no problems. 3/5 now, shouldn't be this difficult.

Absolutely fantastic fete at queens court today 15/7/23. I am a volunteer and every time I am amazed at the effort the activities coordinator and team put into organising and hosting of such wonderful events. The smiles and joy I witnessed are priceless. The activities lady has an incredible connection with residents, family, friends and associates. Her energy and enthusiasm make a massive difference to all who encounter her! You are simply incredible!

Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, it was cold with the heating broken but nobody to fix it, the food was only occasionally good, activities for residents were minimal, and junior staff hardly interacted with residents apart from undertaking personal needs. Staff hygiene at meal times was poor with staff serving food with long hair flowing. Staff didn’t take into account residents' needs with no thought given to their personal dignity or safety. Only one member of the staff in the residential area fulfilled her job with excellent care. Written complaints went to Management on two separate occasions, when talking to the manager she came across as defeated not giving a confident reply. The facilities are poor, the snack trolley that is seen in photos is locked away outside working hours. The residential area has a tired appearance and doesn’t live up to the photos that are shown.

I was very pleased to be able to have a room here for my husband when his vascular dementia became more than I could manage at home. The nursing staff are marvellous in coping with the residents. My husband needs help dressing and going to the toilet and undressing every day. The only thing that is disappointing is that items keep disappearing from his room, personal items like gifts from family and a bedside clock, which were are recovered. I saw another resident wearing his new slippers which are marked clearly and eventually got these returned, but nothing else, which is disappointing.

My mum has been in Queens Court Care Home for the past year, and she is cared for perfectly. She is happy and comfortable and gets on well with all the staff - even though she's 96, she loves to have a bit of banter with both nurses and carers. The staff are all very friendly and helpful - the activities and events manager is so bubbly and happy, which is wonderful for the residents and their relatives - she arranged for Mum to have a live streaming of my brother's funeral just recently and sat with her for the duration to make sure she was ok even singing the final hymn with her - without this, Mum would not have been able to be part of it as she would have wanted. The head of the nursing team upstairs is a real star and goes over and above to ensure that Mum is ok and happy. The admin staff are all so helpful and will go out of their way to assist. I am so grateful for all that they do, and so is my mum. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone moving into Queens Court.
