I was beginning to settle in very well, although it was just to be for a few weeks. All the staff are just exceptional, always had time if I had a problem and made me feel safe and very well looked after. The rooms are spotless and beautifully finished. If I was bored I was never without a book or puzzle
from the activity organiser. Thank you for having me and all the tea and biscuits also.

The staff at Carolyn House Care Home have looked after my mother who had dementia with amazing kindness and care. Not once did my mother ever seem unhappy here.
I have been amazed at the hard work of everyone at the home and a special thank you must go to the manager who has done so much for the family.

My first experience was a call to the home regarding my aunt who is on respite, the staff member was very friendly and helpful informing me how she was and she had settled in well, I asked to book a visiting slot which was very easy to do.
Today I went to visit, firstly due to Covid a member of staff
greeted me at the front door and explained the procedures, checked my lateral flow test then checked my temperature, marvellous all checked.
On entering the home it was clean, lovely decor, brightly painted.
My aunt's room is clear of clutter, spacious, fresh smelling, large TV, nice pictures on the wall, bathroom clean.
I met some lovely staff who were cheerful and helpful.
I left knowing my aunt is being cared for extremely well.

Mum initially had respite care but was lucky enough to be found a permanent place from 23rd August 2021. All of the staff are excellent and the manager always makes us feel special. She is very approachable, helpful and communicative. Mum is 97, had a stroke and dementia and I am so relieved that I
am happy with her safety and welfare in Carolyne House Care Home.

The staff at Carolyne House were wonderful to me, my sister, and above all our mum. Nothing was too much trouble. They were kind and informative whether face to face or on the telephone. They treated mum with dignity at all times. Mum was always washed and dressed in clean clothes and her room was spotless.
We did not feel guilty leaving mum at Carolyne House as we knew she was 100% cared for, and if there was a problem they would be in touch immediately.

My mother was placed in home for respite after a fall and hospital stay. She had dementia and was very poorly. She passed away 6th April and I would like to say I could not have wished for a better home than Carolyne House. The staff were all so caring towards my mum and I will be eternally grateful
for the care and support they gave me, my mum, sister at this very difficult time.

My mother was admitted to Carolyne House during the Covid lockdown and the staff have made every effort to care for her and protect her from harm and to integrate her into the home's social activities.
As I live nearly 200 miles away, visiting during the restrictions has at times been extremely difficult
but the staff have been very good at keeping me informed and discussing her medical treatments and action plans with me and although extremely busy always make time to answer queries I may have.

Carolyne House is a very good care home. The staff are absolutely brilliant and helpful all the time. Especially when my mum can be difficult because she can’t talk or get over how she feels. They deal with Mum really well and they understand how Mum is.
The staff will go that extra mile when needed.
I
would definitely recommend this home to anyone who has a family member that needs to go into a home.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff.

The manager and all staff at Carolyne House make everyone welcome and provide such a high quality care and support for all of their residents. It has been particularly difficult due to Covid 19 yet despite this they have continued to provide up to date information and feedback on our loved ones, encouraged
alternative ways to stay in touch whilst visiting is limited due to guidelines and provided a safe environment at all times for those in their care. The safety and wellbeing of all of their residents is a priority and this has given us, the families, peace of mind knowing that. Nothing is too much trouble and staff manage to do everything with a smile. A very big thank you to each and every one of the staff team at Carolyne House. All staff are very much valued and well led by the home manager who shows care and compassion for both residents and her staff team. Carolyne House is a very happy and welcoming home.

Carolyne House is above all a home. The team strive to provide a safe, happy, supportive environment. The care team are practically skilled and encourage our mother to engage in decisions she can manage for herself for example choosing her clothes, a book, her lunch choices etc. This may sound a small
detail but it does empower our mother and boost self-interest/conversation, I greatly appreciate that effort. Reviews of our mother's care are regular and any necessary actions implemented swiftly and our family informed. Communication with the team is good either by phone or email. During this Covid pandemic the team's commitment to providing safe care whilst ensuring families have contact with their loved ones has been second to none. Equally, we have been up to speed with any information affecting visiting etc. The Carolyne House team have met all challenges with practical solutions e.g. window visits when permissible, Zoom, etc; a true team effort.

My mother has been here for nearly 4 years. She was admitted after a leg amputation and was of very sound mind. She initially found it very difficult to adjust as she was also a very active lady. I know she still finds it difficult to have to ask for help with most needs but most of the staff have been
very understanding. It has also been difficult with the virus problems. The manger has been brilliant in these trouble times.

Mum was at Carolyne House from May until she passed away in August 2020. We have nothing but praise for the staff they were very caring. kind and compassionate to mum and to us as a family. If anything changed with mum's health they contacted us straight away. Mum was happy there and her final weeks
were made very comfortable. Thank you to all the staff for what they did for her.

I am very happy with the way that the staff have looked after mum. They have made every effort to maintain contact with myself during Covid-19 restrictions (via facetime with mum) when we were unable to see her in person. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Carolyne House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 53 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Carolyne House is calculated as follows: ( (569 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 623 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Carolyne House is based on 53 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 53 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
