One of the greatest assets of the care home is the members of staff. We are always met with a smile and a friendly chat and they clearly know the residents well and work tirelessly to ensure their needs are met.
I recently had some issues regarding my mother's care and after a meeting with the manager (who listened with interest to my concerns), the issues were resolved with speed and great professionalism.

The changes made have enhanced my mother's quality of life immensely and also mine as I know she is in the hands of people who truly care.

My husband moved into Southlands Nursing Home for respite care, leading to permanency.
The home is lovely and well-maintained inside and out.
The staff are always attentive and efficient looking after the residents with care and dignity, medication is given by knowledgeable nurses.
After having lunch with my husband I can say the food is delicious and well presented.
There are always activities for the residents and family to join in with and our two young children are welcomed by all.

We would highly recommend Southlands, I myself feel happy knowing my husband is being cared for in a safe happy environment.

My mother recently passed away here at Southlands and I would like to say how kind and considerate the staff were. I was fully informed at all times of my mum's care during the 5 years she was there and the kind nature of the staff was fantastic. My mum could not have had better care, she was always clean, comfortable and well-fed, I never once felt anything else. The management again were great. Thank you to all the staff for the care and kindness you gave my mum, you should be really proud of the home you run.

My mother lives here, been there for three months now she is a lot happier than I’ve seen her in a long while. She no longer says she doesn’t want to be alive anymore she now eats four meals a day it’s all home-cooked by a lovely chef and there is entertainment every day. My mum’s room is nice she has her TV up on the wall and all her home comforts around her. I’m so glad to see my mum smile and laugh again. All the staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble.

I am very impressed by the care my husband is receiving in Southlands. All the staff act from a position of compassion and 'love' - they show it in all their interactions with him and also in their dealings with me, in which they are extremely friendly, open and honest. The care they offer is excellent, so I have every confidence that he is now where he needs to be in order to enjoy the best quality of life that is possible for him, given his condition. Accurate and detailed records are kept of his care, and I am informed of any changes in his condition. If I had any concerns, I would be able to raise them, knowing that they would be taken seriously and responded to in a totally professional manner - but I have none. Thank you, Southlands, for supporting him and our family so well through this incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.

I have found this nursing home caring. When my husband has been ill, they have sought medical treatment for him. The staff are cheerful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I know if I have any concerns, they will be dealt with promptly. Each individual resident is treated as an individual. They are given a choice as regards their meals. Nothing is done as regards their personal care unless asked for permission first.

Care for my mother has been very good. The nursing staff have been quick to take action when health concerns have arisen. They have kept me informed of progress promptly. I have been especially impressed with the way the care and nursing staff have rehabilitated my mother since returning from a long hospital stay.

Not only did the staff look after my husband, but they also looked after me. Always updating me with my husbands good days, but also bad ones. I felt I had become part of a wonderful family unit. You have to have the special "something" to be a nurse/carer, and this is all found at Southlands. Thank you one and all.

Firstly, I would like to say 'you can't believe everything you read', and I must say he is fantastic care with staff that have forced so much this year and still offer the same compassion and dignity that they always would. All staff including the management have shown me empathy, and communications have been great to make sure his end of life is as comfortable as can be. They have updated me and phoned me regarding all matters. He is clean, comfortable, loved and cared for, and I couldn't ask for anymore. I thank you with all my heart, forever in your debt.

My brother went into Southlands after the loss of our dear mother in April 2019, we are still grieving in many ways. But when we were able to visit the home the staff supported us too. (When hugs were allowed.) They so helped my brother and us through our great loss, the staff and the manager got my brother home but we all miss our visits and hope when able to visit again soon, the residents also are so lovely to chat to.

Reply from Natalie Allen, Commercial Operations Support at Southlands Nursing Home
