My mum came into Brunswick Court after experiencing a severe stroke and having no communication. Brunswick Court is a warm, welcoming, person-centred environment. Each member of staff take time to listen to Mum's needs and are extremely supportive. The staff are approachable, kind, caring and have the
client's needs at the forefront of their daily tasks. I could not recommend this care home enough. for making both my mum and myself part of the Brunswick Court family and thank you so much.

Mum says the food was very good. The staff were very nice, some a bit abrupt, but on the whole, good. The night nurse was very good! Talked to Mum and made her feel at ease. On the whole, a good experience. Thank you.
Reply from Alison Horridge, Customer Advisor on behalf of the team at Brunswick Court Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We are happy we were able to offer your mum the support she needed and that her experience staying with us was good overall. My mum has settled in very well. She has a lovely, large room, which is kept clean on a daily basis. Mum enjoys the activities every day and they are different every day. All the staff are friendly and helpful. They are always smiling and having a laugh. The food is great and always presented to a high
standard. Very well done to all staff.

One of the senior carers has gone above and beyond her duties. She has compassion and a caring nature towards the residents. She cared for my parents and showed a professional manner with empathy. She is a real credit to King George ward and Bupa as a company. I hope she gets recognised for her continuous
hard work.

It's been very good in every respect. My mother-in-law enjoyed that everyone has been helpful. Meals have been tasty and well cooked and served. She enjoyed going to the garden and the church service. The room is regularly cleaned.

I came in for a week's post-operative care after a hip replacement. Very welcoming, kind and attentive care from all t staff - day and night. Sadly, I developed Covid - not from here - and so was confined to a room and couldn't make use of the facilities. All infection controls were strictly adhered
to. A very pleasant and healing stay, for which I thank you all.

I was worried at first about my husband coming into a nursing home, because of all the horror stories you hear i.e. neglected, left alone all day, rough treatment and general care not met. Since my husband came to Brunswick Court, my fears are over. The home itself is very clean, with plenty of staff
around and all his care has been wonderful. In fact, it's the only care home I've been in that doesn't smell of urine.
Reply from Rebecca Kellegher, Customer Service Adviser at Brunswick Court Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you felt at ease with your husband in our care and that we have changed your perception on care homes. We hope to continue providing the best care possible.

My care in Brunswick, Watford, was good. I found it difficult to understand many of the staff due to their level of English. Regarding the management, I found it very difficult to speak to the office staff, as the phone was not answered. My daughter rang on the day of my admission, but no one answered
the phone.

Very caring and compassionate staff. Good food. My husband was in pain much of the time (hip replacement op) and demanded painkillers (paracetamol). Not sure if stronger pain killers were administered to deal with this. He was not an easy patient at times and the staff dealt with him in a dignified
and empathetical way.

The care staff are amazing. Very friendly and treat my auntie with dignity and respect. Always willing to help when we ask. My only concern is the lack of any palliative nurses since she has been here and it's terrible to see her in so much pain.

I cannot speak highly enough of this nursing home. All of the staff on King George's Suite were of such high quality and all so dedicated to their jobs. Brunswick Court was used as end of life care for my mother and the kindness and actions of the staff gave me confidence when leaving her under their
care, at such an important time for our family. The nurses acted promptly on my numerous medical and physical requests, which changed on a daily basis. Re-positioning was done with such gentleness as to be as painless as possible. One staff member phoned me after her shift had finished, just to tell me my mum was asleep and comfortable. Given she died twelve hours later, that meant a lot. Thank you all!
Reply from Amanda Barnes, Customer Service Adviser at Brunswick Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry for your loss, please accept our condolences. The fees keep rising and I do not feel that she is getting value for money. Her quality of life has deteriorated due to her fall, which happened during the covid lockdown and can no longer walk. The family have found it impossible to visit due to the constant lockdowns. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren
have not visited for two years or more. This, I feel has been detrimental to her well being. I must state that the long term staff here have been excellent throughout and the reception staff have been very accommodating. Management, however?

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.471)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.471) out of 10 for Brunswick Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.471 for Brunswick Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (210 Excellents x 5) + (85 Goods x 4) + (40 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 340 Ratings = 4.471
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brunswick Court Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
