Houndswood House Care Home

We were so pleased when we found Houndswood, mum having been in other residential homes and now needing nursing care. The staff are very friendly, caring and patient, mum is often confused but they understand her issues and encourage her to take part in activities when possible. The house has a warm, welcoming and homely feel and is very clean. Staff always welcome us with a smile and are ready to answer any questions. We would recommend to anyone needing such care.

Houndswood House has gone from strength to strength over the past 18 months. My mum has been in Houndswood for 9 years and I have seen it in good times and not so good times. Now under new management with a motivated kind and caring team it's the best it's ever been. I never expected to be in the position of having to choose a care home for my mum but I'm so glad I picked Houndswood. Would totally recommend to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

I am really impressed with the service provided at Houndswood House. Staff are polite, observant, friendly and caring. It is very clear that all staff members are well trained and supervised. The care plans and monitoring of residents daily needs/activities are excellent. Residents are encouraged to socialise and join in with the excellent leisure activities provided. I would wholeheartedly recommend Houndswood House to anyone.

My mother has been resident for a couple of months and I cannot believe how lucky we have been to find this care home. The place is clean, very well run and the staff are amazing. There is a very happy atmosphere about the place with staff and residents alike.

Have found the staff very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble.

Recently visited a life long friend who has been at the home for some time now, it was an extremely pleasant visit. We sat in the garden and enjoyed a cup of tea together whilst admiring their lovely grounds.

He seems very happy and settled.

Activities have been tremendous, meal times have been fun and great to see dad interacting with the staff and other residents. The food was excellent, care has been extremely good and the whole atmosphere of the home is brilliant.

Since my father has been at Houndswood House, my sister and I have been able to enjoy him again. For the first time in 18 months, it feels like we finally have him back, his communication has improved and the staff are always so kind and gentle with him. We are very happy and confident with the care he is receiving.

The care my aunty received was exceptional. The staff are incredibly helpful and caring towards all residents. I would 100% recommend.

Mum has dementia and, following a stroke, was unable to walk. We moved her into residential care at Houndswood House, but it became clear after just three weeks they were unable to adequately meet her needs. A couple of incidents caused us to lose confidence, so we moved mum to a new home. Within days her mental and physical wellbeing improved dramatically. The house and grounds at Houndswood House are very attractive, so it might be a good option for assisted living, but based on my experience, not suitable for those as vulnerable as Mum. Some of the regular carers were lovely but they were in the minority. There was a heavy reliance on agency staff and, in my view, a lack of strong leadership.

I visited my grandmother last week and I was extremely happy to see how well she is being cared for. She is happy and comfortable and that’s all we can ask for.

I've enjoyed my stay here and the staff have been extremely helpful and friendly. It's a clean, well looked after home.

Excellent. Very comfortable. It is so good to know that my mother is being so well cared for. The staff are very helpful and caring.

The caring, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, the attitiude of everyone we meet is superb. This same attitude follows through into the care of the residents. It seems a wonderful home to spend your twilight years.

From the moment my sister and I looked at Houndswood, everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and could not do enough to help us. Our father moved into Houndswood and as his daughters, we feel that all the staff cannot do enough to make sure our father is cared for, listened to and all his needs are met to the highest level and show him the dignity and respect he deserves.

Everyone that is looking after me is really excellent.
