The long-standing home manager, who has been in post for over five years, leads an effective and stable staff group. This, and exceptional in-house training, ensures a skilled and responsive care team to meet the changing individual needs and expectations of every resident. With a caring and compassionate team, where nothing is too much trouble to help residents settle into their new home, the family ethos and the warm relationships the staff achieve are greatly valued by both residents and visitors.
Westgate House has some highly attractive and charming themed day areas in which to relax or socialise; these include the Garden Café – a firm favourite for those who like to enjoy a coffee and chat with the morning paper, the Cinema room, a Reminiscence room, and Café Pierre. Comfortable bedrooms have their own ensuite toilets and washbasins and the home’s showers and bathrooms are newly refurbished.
There are a number of outdoor spaces including a sensory courtyard for residents to benefit from and a separate garden for spending time with friends and relatives.
The facilities have been designed to enhance resident care and quality of life, to optimise cleanliness and help minimise the spread of any infections; this includes a natural ventilation system, wood effect flooring, hand washing facilities in every room and the use of hand gel dispensers throughout the home.

This is the first care home I have been in and is wonderful. The staff at all levels are really wonderful. The care and the treatment are outstanding and excellent.

I was hesitant to come to the Westgate Care Centre but the care I received from all the staff put these fears aside. The treatment I have received from all departments within the centre has been excellent. It has put me on the road to a good recovery. Many thanks to all.

During my stay at Westgate House, Ware, Herts, I found the staff always cheerful and always helpful. A pleasure to be here, it was hard when I had to leave, but all good things have to come to an end.

Staff very co-operative, my room is always clean (and tidying up after me!). Physio and medical care very good. Food ok but not very hot and at times mediocre.

My husband describes his stay at Westgate House as very caring. He was treated well by all members of staff and made to feel comfortable. He found the physiotherapy classes demanding but very beneficial.

I came to Westgate House on March 22nd to convalesce following a major operation lasting 9 1/2 hours. The care and commitment of each of the staff without exception is a joy to behold. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I will be forever grateful for the care I received.

I was made very welcome when I arrived here. The treatment I have received has helped with my walking as the staff are all very patient.

Provided emergency respite care at very short notice. Westgate House is safe and secure. The staff are caring and thoughtful. I would recommend this facility, if not a little expensive.

After spending 5 weeks in QVM and going home for just 48 hours after another fall, spending another 2 weeks in hospital and coming to Westgate for rehab, I find that I can walk much better. I would not be as I am today, a massive thank you to each and everyone, even down to your admin staff. I can't say thank you enough.
