Castle House Care Home is very much a home from home, with a very welcoming atmosphere. All the staff very kind, caring and helpful. The activities and events for the residents are excellent and everyone is encouraged to join in, including the families of the residents, this all adds to the Castle's homeliness.
It was a pleasure to look after mum. Thank you for your kind and caring review. This means the world to us. Love Castle House.
My mum has been a resident of the care home since June 2025. She is really happy in there and loves the staff. They are brilliant with her and she is doing different things everyday. They have people visit like singers and have animals brought in to see them which my mum loves. The activities coordinator is excelent as are the staff.
We were impressed by the way she (and the other guests) were spoken to and looked after.
I would not be disappointed if she returned for another visit.
Before writing this review I chatted to my dad - who is a resident - about the various categories and his responses where all positive. In particular he mentioned that the management has always been extremely helpful and supportive, that the staff are friendly and helpful, and that the food is very good! In general he is very happy with the care home, and if he is happy then I am too.
I have always found that the staff at the home always go above and beyond to carry out their responsibilities from the kitchen to carers and office management nothing is to much trouble we have known each and everyone of them throughout my mother in laws stay also now with my stepfather being not the easiest person to satisfy my heart and gratitude goes out to them.
Thank you for your kind word, it is much appreciated. We are pleased to hear that we have been delivering care at a high standard to both mum and dad.
You know its a good place when Mum calls it "home"
He is very well fed has his meds all sorted, has companionship with the staff and other residents and there always seems so much going on. He's also now well enough to go for a walk in the town (aided by his walker) so that he can chat with locals and still peruse the local shops and market, something that has helped him to stay connected with the town and his friends. Where the home is, is vital to this.
The staff and manager are exceptional and genuinely have my dad's best interests at heart and are regularly in touch with us as his family. When we pop in (anytime) we are treated as part of the family and always have a cup of tea and a biscuit or two. I am and will forever be grateful for the care and patience shown to my dad who is in the best shape he has been for a long time. Can't recommend highly enough!
Thank you so very much for your kind, positive review. I will relay your comments to the team. If there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know.
They were happy to spend time with me answering questions and elevating concerns I had about Mum's move. All mum's medical needs are sorted daily by the team. The meals provided are great and always served with care and attention. The atmosphere is always upbeat and I am welcome to visit at any time of day. Mum has begun to join in some of the many activities that go on in the lounge room and is enjoying her days again.
Thank you very much for your positive review. I will feed your comments back to the staff team. If there is anything we can help with, please don't hesitate to ask.
We are always made to feel most welcome when we visit - every time I am there some sort of event or activity is going on and everyone gets involved, including visitors when we are there! Recently when my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the whole team came in to help them celebrate with a cake, balloons, a singer to entertain us all and of course a wonderful afternoon tea.
Thank you so very much for this lovely positive review. It is truly heartwarming. I will feed this back to the staff team.
The first thing I noticed when I visited my friend was the warm and loving atmosphere and the way the staff communicated and interacted with the residents. The kindness of the staff was outstanding and they made both the residents and their families feel safe, comfortable and at home. My friend was happy and relaxed and very content with the life she has there. A very exceptional care home.
Many thanks Kay for your lovely review, it is very much appreciated and I will pass on your kind words to the team at Castle House.
My wife, having led a very active and full life, now relies on a care home to look after her. There are many care homes available in Devon, all of them offering very good services, but Castle House is by far and away the best one you will find! They cater for all sorts of disabilities and ailments and the management and staff look after their residents as if they were part of their own family and treat them all with loving care. The chef and her staff really look after the residents and the meals are excellent and always include known favourites, with birthdays and special occasions recognised with some form of entertainment and (of course) a home-made cake! The layout of Castle House itself is perfect. With a separate dining room and lounge overlooking a lovely, well-kept garden. The bedrooms have been well designed and contain specialist equipment (if required) for a particular resident. Thank you Castle House for looking after my wife with such loving care. You are fantastic.

What a lovely caring, clean care home. I have visited a number of times over the last year. Friendly staff, nothing it to much trouble. All the residents I have seen and spoken to look happy, clean and well cared for. I love hearing about the activities they have for the residents. Thanks to all the staff.

Everything my Mum requires. They always go out of their way whether it's for care etc. All the staff are excellent, also cleaners and handymen.
Many thanks Lorraine for your lovely review. If there is anything we can improve on, please let us know

The whole team at Castle House Care Home are absolutely fabulous, and takes care of our mum so well. I know that all residents are looked after with care, love and dignity irrespective of their needs. The team always do so much for all the residents and there is always some sort of event or activity going on and everyone gets involved, including us when we are there, singing, bingo, quizzes and crafts! Our whole family are massively reassured that our dear mummie is being cared for in such a lovely place and we are always made to feel welcome whenever we visit, they even put on a special meal for us over Christmas so we could spend time together as a family, and nothing is too much trouble.
Thank you for your very kind review. I will pass on your compliments to the team. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do better.
The manager and all her staff have always been so kind and caring and have gone out of their way to help when it was needed. We are so thankful that Mum was so well looked after in her final years.
Dear Michael. Thank you so much for your positive review, it is much appreciated. We will certainly miss Mum and wish you and your family all the very best.
The concern shown for my cousin's physical well-being was always apparent, her personal cleanliness and the cleanliness and safety of her surroundings being always of a high standard. More than that, however, was the gentleness and friendship shown to my cousin at Castle House. These are attributes that cannot be made and for my cousin to enjoy them as she did clearly shows the natural sympathy, empathy and kindness of those at Castle House.
The family have much to thank those at Castle House for and wish all the very best for the future.
Thank you for your very kind review. It was a pleasure to care for your cousin. I wish you and your family all the very best.
From day one they made me feel at ease and confident that I had made the right choice for Dad.
The move was more unsettling for Dad than I had anticipated, but all the staff were so patient with him and kept me informed every step of the way. They have been very accommodating of my need to see Dad often and have always been so cheerful and positive, even when I know that Dad has properly tested them!
A really lovely feel in the home every time I visit and all the other residents seem so happy.
Highly recommended.
Thank you for your positive review. We are so pleased that Dad has settled in well. If there is anything further, we can do to improve, please let us know.
All staff like to know my grandad's individual needs and interests thus building a secure relationship with him. As a result, my grandad always felt safe and at home.
I would not hesitate to recommend Castle House. Staff and management go above and beyond to meet the needs of my grandad.
All staff are very good at keeping all our family members up to date with what has been happening that day and if my grandad needs anything.
The first time that my grandad visited Castle House was just after my Nan died. At this sad time, my grandad's mental health was very low. However, the staff and other residents all pulled together to give comfort to my grandad at this sad time.
