My brother and I were so glad to find The Old Lodge for our Dad. He was only there 6 months but it felt like home from home.
It is of such high standards and a lovely warm happy atmosphere. All the staff are so welcoming, kind, understanding and highly competent at their jobs.
Our Dad had Parkinsons
and was unable to do anything for himself, he was he was treated with such dignity. During his last weeks, he was comfortable and pain-free, he passed away with lots of love and care around him. It is a first-class nursing home and we can not thank you all enough.

Since moving to The Old Lodge my 97-year-old Father has had the most wonderful care. He has been treated with the utmost respect, kindness and loving care. The family is overwhelmed by the kindness shown not only to my father but also to us when we visit. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and
we appreciate it. We would not hesitate to recommend this home, and in fact, have already done so. A lot of work is being undertaken at present and this will only enhance the atmosphere of the home. My father's room is in need of refurbishment, but his care is of greater importance at this difficult time.

My dad was admitted earlier last year as he needed to go into a nursing home due to deterioration of his Parkinson's. When he went in all the staff were amazing and I can't find anything to fault with the level of care he receives. Due to the nature of his Parkinson's he has to have a very high level
of care as he is prone to infections. Every time he has not been 100% a doctor has been called just to check him over. I am sure that if he wasn't getting that level of care he would not be as well as he has been. The staff have always kept us informed of any changes to my dad and also recommend if he needs anything to help make his ongoing care.
For anyone looking for a nursing home then this place is excellent, clean, safe and provides exemplary care. They put the residents care and well being first and are made to feel like an individual at all times.
I would hand on heart recommend the Old Lodge Nursing Home to anyone and couldn't imagine my dad being anywhere else.

From the minute I walked into the Old Lodge I sensed a happy and safe atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, the place was clean and the rooms, beds and equipment were of an extremely high standard.
The staffing levels are high and the carers and nurses are carefully trained to a high standard.
The
catering and cleaning staff also showed dignity and respect towards the residents.
It was such a worry finding a suitable place of care for my 90 year old mother after leaving hospital, but I, my family and my sister were continuously impressed. We felt that our mother, who was deteriorating with vascular dementia approved our choice.
When she passed away, having staying at the Old Lodge for just over a year, the staff treated both my mother and our family with the utmost respect and care.
I cannot recommend the Old Lodge Nursing Home highly enough.

Excellent nursing Home Care in the peaceful surroundings of Etwall, Derbyshire.
The senior staff and the team have always been extremely caring and professional in their approach.
Medical care in the form of GP visits or A&E attendances have always been available when required. It can often be difficult
to know when a chronic Nursing Home resident requires medical attention but staff at Old Lodge are particularly skilled in this regard.

We would like to thank the management and staff at The Old Lodge Etwall on behalf of our family for the care and dedication they gave to our mum while she was with them following a serious illness. The care they gave was compassionate to both ourselves and mum and allowed her to pass away with the utmost
dignity in comfortable surroundings after a long illness. We felt totally at ease and confident at all times that she was receiving the best care by all the staff that always went beyond mark while giving us support to deal with the obvious outcome for our mum. When she finally passed away we visited her to find they had arranged her with flowers in her hands, soft lights and gentle music playing and the final goodbye was something nice to remember after the distress of the weeks before at last, she was at peace.
The staff can only be described as angels without wings.
Special thanks to the caring staff, we will never forget their kindness.

We cannot possibly thank the matron and all of the staff at The Old Lodge enough, for all of the loving care and attention that my mum received. She was happy and comfortable for the last few months of her life which is all a family could wish for.


She was, through extremely vigilant and attentive

nursing care, kept free of pain and discomfort to pass away peacefully with family at her bedside.


You have all made what is a very difficult time, pass as smooth as it possibly could.

My mum went into The Old Lodge in May 2013 and is still a resident there. We moved her from another care home where she was not looked after properly and was in a very poor state of health when she arrived at The Old Lodge, but their care instantly turned her around to a more healthy person. From the
day she arrived, the staff have given her the best possible love, care and dignity making her life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.


The home has a very friendly and warm atmosphere and we can find no complaints about the set up there in Etwall. It's set in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and has some fantastic views from most rooms looking out over the farmland. All the staff do their utmost to make residents and their families and friends who visit most welcome. Tea and coffee is always offered to visitors.


We can't praise the home highly enough. We would certainly recommend the home to anyone wanting the best quality of care for their loved one.

My husband was a resident at The Old Lodge for just under 18 months. He had previously spent 8 months in a spinal unit. On arrival at The Old Lodge, he was given a lovely room with views over the countryside. All the Staff were welcoming and very caring to him. My husband had quite a few medical issues
but the staff treated him with dignity, patience and compassion at all times. When I visited I was always welcomed with a smile and given cups of tea and encouraged to join in the various social events which took place over the year.
During the time my husband was a resident, I and my family got to know all the staff, down from the Matron to the cook and handyman and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Matron and her staff for supporting my husband, myself and family during this most stressful time. I will never forget their kindness, care and compassion and would certainly recommend The Old Lodge Nursing Home to anyone.

This nursing home is exceptional. I cannot describe the relief my father, brother and I felt when our mum was admitted for care here after a difficult time in hospital.
People greeted us with friendly smiles and introduced themselves, from the chef to cleaners to carers. It meant so much to us for
her to have received tender loving care during the last month of her life.
They also took excellent care of us, and our family and friends, when we visited. The Matron was just fantastic and set a great tone in the nursing home. The Deputy Manager and Team Leader were so kind, but to be honest all the staff were great. They gave us amazing support through the most difficult time of our lives. My brother is a GP who specialises in palliative care, and he says it's the best nursing home he has ever been to. We feel privileged to have had our mum stay here during her final weeks, and owe them a debt of gratitude.

My mother-in-law was admitted for 2 weeks respite after being in hospital. After the 2 weeks, she would have to go back to her own house and have home help 3 times a day.
She did not get any better so the care home managed to find a permanent room for her and in her final days, they took excellent
care of her and nothing was too much for them in making her comfortable.
She passed away on the 21st October having been looked after by some excellent staff and we can not thank them enough for their excellent care they gave her.

My mum was a resident at Old Lodge for 13 months before she passed away in June 2015. She had a devastating stroke in April 2014 and transferred to the Old Lodge in May 2014. She was unable to communicate her needs and was physically disabled and needed to feed through a tube in her tummy.
All of
The Old Lodge staff regardless of their role treated my mum and all of our family with dignity respect humour kindness and compassion. We felt fully included in all of mums care and were always made so welcome.
Matron and her team run a pristine homely and attractive looking home whilst maintaining very standards of care.
We cannot thank the staff enough for the care that mum received.
