Prior to Langdale Care Homes taking over Woodlands Nursing and Care Home, this service was rated Requires Improvement/Inadequate by CQC and banned from taking new admissions. Except a handful of regular care staff, the ex-provider used agency staff extensively, with 100% agency nurses used and no clinical leadership. The regular care staff transferred to the new employer and continuity of care ensured. Within 5 weeks, CQC visited Woodlands, rated the service as fully compliant 5 x GOOD, exceeding the IPC's, recognised as a COVID designated setting. The service opened its doors to new admissions, received fantastic reviews from new residents, families and professionals. Unfortunately, the reviewer stepped up her unrealistic demands. No mediation meeting satisfied the reviewer, therefore, in collaboration with CQC, CCG, LA, MDT we had no other choice but to serve notice based on the way the reviewer conducts herself and the impact this is having on staff, other residents and management.
