Mother has been here for 3 months and although unable to communicate, I feel she is settled and content.

The staff are all very friendly and she responds well in their company.

I haven't had any experience of care homes to be fair so I haven't got anything to compare it with. I do know a lot of the staff who work here because I work in a local pharmacy myself and a lot of them are lovely. I wouldn't say anything bad about the home but I do think there's only so much can be done to meet individual needs because of staffing situation etc.

Staff at the home are great although there could do with being more of them - it does take quite a while for anyone to come when buzzing for them. Could do with an area for visitors to have a drink - when visiting for long periods (end of life care). Very rarely offered a drink and don't like asking an already stretched staff member.

The staff are very friendly though and do look after the residents well. Lovely garden area to sit in and nice reception areas downstairs.

Staffing ratio is always maintained at an optimum level to meet the care needs of service users meeting CQC requirements and guidelines.

Most carers/staff are excellent but some occasionally do not provide the level of care/service required.

Also, there is currently no stimulation/activities which I feel is essential.

My mother came to Blyth Care Home for palliative care and was only on for 10 days but was comfortable and kept in a clean bed and clothes. The nurses and carers were respectful and lovely to my mum, as far as I was able to see.

This was the best place for my Father in his last few weeks. They were extremely diligent, caring and empathetic to not only his needs but ours as well. He couldn't have been in safer hands.

Mum entered the home after a serious illness about a year ago. We both found nothing but help and kindness from management and staff. The care given to Mum by all has been second to none, so much so that her situation has improved tremendously. They give her the time she needs both socially and medically. The staff, from management through to chefs, domestics, laundry and carers, know their jobs and are never too busy to help. As in life, there is room for improvement, but nothing is perfect.

I visit a male resident most weeks who has dementia. He appears to be well cared for and says the food is very good. His room is clean and tidy as we usually go to his room when I visit. I also bring a lady who has been friends of his wife for years. His wife died not long ago and he was unable to live on his own.

We visit most weeks to see my brother.
He likes his room and does not want to be moved to another,
The day public rooms have been closed for redecorating so it leaves the home short of public rooms.

Staff are all friendly to us.

My mum has been in the nursing home for nearly a year, she settled really well after coming from another home which sadly closed. I cannot praise this home enough, she receives excellent care, staff very good, mum seems to be very happy.

My mother continues to receive excellent care and support at Blyth Country House. She is treated with kindness and dignity by all members of staff and management and in her own words has said 'they couldn't do any more for me and are all so kind'. I have every confidence that my mother is well cared for and all the staff are very approachable and friendly if I need advice regarding my mother.

My mother sadly passed away at the beginning of December.
She was a resident at Blyth Country House for just over 5 years. Despite being bedridden for the majority of this time, she never had any skin problems or bed sores.

This is testament to the level of care and support provided by the staff and management.

It is nice knowing that mam is happy and safe. I know I can rely on the staff to look after her as well as myself and as if she is their mam.

The care home encourages us to bring my mams dog at any time to visit. She was also good for other residents.

My mother arrived at the home early this year, very poorly after a spell in hospital. All the staff have taken very good care of her, and have all taken efforts to learn her foibles and adjust routines to ensure she is settled and comfortable.

The home is small enough for the staff to develop good relationships with all the residents and their families. Visitors, including pets, are always welcomed. The environment is under constant improvement, and the newly refurbished dementia - friendly quiet lounge is a great asset.
