Overall Experience
Mum had two weeks of respite care at Wiltshire Heights, and it has helped her recovery. The staff have been kind and friendly, the food generally good, and there are regular activities for those who want them. There were no restrictions on visiting or on me taking Mum out, which we appreciated.

The fact that there was no mobile signal inside, and she had to go into the garden to contact me, was a bit of a drawback.

Short version - brilliant!
Long version - I was looking for a 2-week respite stay for my father who has dementia. When I contacted Wiltshire Heights, they were friendly, professional and understanding and after a swiftly arranged visit, I was confident that they would provide the right environment and care for Dad.
He was quite nervous and reluctant at the prospect of leaving his own home and going into care for a couple of weeks, but after an hour of being settled in, he was thanking me for finding such a nice place for him.
During his stay, he was cared for with patience, politeness and professionalism and a smile at every turn. He was helped and encouraged to socialise and exercise. His diet and general condition improved quite noticeably. Visiting with Dad's dog was positively encouraged.

Both he and we, the family, had a very positive experience.

My experience with Wiltshire Heights was excellent for my mother. She was extremely well looked after during her respite stay. The staff were wonderfully patient with her and my father who visited every day. The administration staff were also brilliantly efficient during a very difficult time for myself and my family. I had fast replies to emails and phone calls.
My one criticism was the difficulty in communicating with my mother. It was very difficult to get a phone to her and we were often cut off.
Other than that, it was exactly what she needed after her hospital stay.

Thank you.

Although my father had reservations about leaving the home he had shared with my mother for nearly sixty years, he always tells me each time I visit him at Wiltshire Heights how happy he is and especially how wonderful the staff are. Both his medical and general care have clearly improved his outlook on life and it gives me great comfort to see how he is thriving in such a friendly and caring environment.

Following a stay in hospital, Mum needed to spend some time in a residential home before going home. After visiting a number of care homes, and Mum initially being resident in another, we found Wiltshire Heights. Immediately, we felt it was the kind of place that Mum could be happy and feel cared for and welcome. We moved Mum to Wiltshire Heights and have been so pleased from the outset. Mum settled really well and was made to feel welcome, comfortable and cared for. Mum and the rest of the family cannot fault the staff. They are always friendly and cheerful. They always have time for a smile, a few words or a chat. The staff made sure that Mum made friends and joined in at mealtimes and with activities. The activities on offer were interesting and engaging and Mum has been to concerts, art, garden and scrabble clubs and has been out on trips to Westonbirt and Bristol. If Mum has to return to residential care in the future, we would make Wiltshire Heights our first call.

I have found my respite care fortnight very interesting and would be happy to do it again. I came here for support when my family (who live next door to me) went away on a fortnight's holiday abroad. I trained as a nurse and spent most of my working life in geriatric hospitals so was aware of what life here might be like.

I spent one month with Wiltshire Heights Care Home. The staff were kind and helpful. Although the communication between the staff seems to be delayed, especially at breakfast times; sometimes a tray sometimes just a bowl. The tea was usually cold (I was at the end of the corridor). My prescription was never delivered even on the last day, my daughter had to go to Trowbridge to pick it up.

This was our first experience of using a care home, and it was excellent. Dad was extremely well looked after during his two-week stay and very well fed throughout! I was always greeted by the very friendly staff, who were super helpful and attentive to our needs. Wiltshire Heights would definitely be at the top of our list should we decide Dad needs to be in a care home full time. Thanks so much for helping during this difficult time.

Wiltshire Heights is accurately classified by the Care Quality Commission as "outstanding". Its assessment and intake procedures were professional and very sensitively conducted. The senior staff were sincere in their welcome at admission, demonstrating that they understood the enormity of the transition for their new residents. I have been impressed by the availability and engagement of the managerial and administrative staff and there is always respect and courtesy at reception. This has the ambience of a Home not an institution. It radiates an ethos of acceptance and tolerance, a non-judgmental attitude to both residents and relations and it pays attention to the individuality of the residents. The care staff are always accessible for discussion; they maintain composure, respect and professionalism when giving honest feedback and they are scrupulous in avoiding being critical or judgemental. This is a "Care" Home in the true sense of the word.

The Wiltshire Heights team have welcomed Dad into their home and are really caring and very supportive with him. The move was easy and nothing was too much trouble for the team at Wiltshire Heights. From the start, the admin team and reception team were so welcoming and answered all the questions we had. The care team are amazing and takes time with Dad to ensure he is not overwhelmed but that he has the lifestyle he wants in the knowledge that the team are there to help if needed.

Right from the start, you get the feeling that Wiltshire Heights is a cut above the rest. They are the only ones rated as outstanding that I could find and it's easy to see why. My father has been so welcomed. Nothing seems too much trouble for any of the nursing team or management. So happy knowing Dad is being looked after here.

This is a lovely home in beautiful surroundings with accessible gardens. The rooms are very spacious and all have big wet room en-suites. A real highlight of this home is the activities team who works very hard on a comprehensive and varied programme of stimulating and enjoyable events. The transition was very well handled and Dad was quickly made to feel welcome and at home.

My mother became a resident in January 2022 during a Covid outbreak at the care home. We are very grateful that she could be admitted at that time. The care she has been given since then has been excellent, encouraging and supportive for her independence. It was a difficult time for my mother to move into Wiltshire Heights. It would have been helpful to have an information pack with details such as contacting the activities team to arrange iPad calls, what is supplied and what is necessary for the family to supply.

Charlie Osgood
Charlie OsgoodJob Title Home ManagerJoined 2023

Hello, my name is Charlie Osgood, and I am the Home Manager here at Wiltshire Heights.

I started my career in care in 1992, working nights as a carer in a nursing home. I loved the job, and it prompted me to undertake my nurse training in London and return to the same nursing home in 2000 in the position of home manager. I then managed this home for three years.

In the 20 years that followed, I have managed two other nursing homes, worked as a training and development manager and also been a regional manager for a small care provider consisting of five care homes.

I am passionate about care and the need to build positive relationships and work in partnership with our residents, their loved ones, our team, local professionals and advocates to achieve the best possible care and outcomes for individuals living in our home, and I am particularly excited about the opportunity to manage a home as impressive as Wiltshire Heights.

Jaspreet Price

Hello, my name is Jas, and I am the Client Services Manager here at Wiltshire Heights.

I have experience working in various customer service roles, from group reservations and event management to regional sales management. I loved working in events and organising weddings, corporate conferences and seasonal parties. I have also worked for the NHS in various hospitals as a clinical coordinator.

I came into the care sector hoping to use my experience to support our residents in living a well-rounded life. I am able to use my experience in events to plan special occasions for everybody in our home to enjoy, so not only do our residents receive excellent care, but they also have a great time socially as part of the Wiltshire Heights community.

I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this fantastic home.

Sally Bullock

Hello, my name is Sally Bullock, and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Wiltshire Heights.

I originally joined Wiltshire Heights as a night carer and eventually became head housekeeper. I loved both roles, however, I feel housekeeping is where my talents really lie. Before this, I worked in a senior school, however after 25 years I decided I wanted to try something different.

As part of my role, I have the privilege of spending time with our residents on a daily basis, mingling and chatting with them and finding out whether there is anything I can do for them. I am lucky to have a great team who keeps our home sparkling clean and shares my sentiment that nothing is too much for our lovely residents.
