Excellent facility. Very clean and organised. Great staff.
Only negative was lacking numbers of staff during Covid times but this was rectified.
Currently undergoing refurbishment but management has very professionally project managed this.
Would highly recommend to potential family members.

My aunt's health has been very good at Charters Court Care Home. We have been waiting two years for Australian borders to open. My aunt's good health, mind and body has made it possible for her to travel to Australia to be with her family.

Our mother has had to go into care very late in life, that being the case the amount of care she needs is considerable. I knew Charters Court Care Home had a good reputation from having spoken to carers in another home, this I considered a good portent. My first impressions were very good, however,
I left from writing a review until I had interacted with many members of the staff and seen how things stood over a period of time. I can say that I have found all aspects of the home first-class, be it nursing care, entertainment or food and the dozens of other things contributing to the daily running of a home this size. All the staff, without fail, have been considerate and helpful, especially over this stressful time with Covid-19. The strain of the reduced level of staffing must have made things very difficult.

My father's life has improved significantly since moving to Charters Court Care Home. Staff work so hard to meet his needs and the little details that help him are always considered. He enjoys socialising with the staff and says he feels "important" and they never mind if he forgets things. He says
he is free of worries and has time to do nice things.

I can only praise Charters Court to the highest degree. When my mother first became a resident, she was very fit and well and was happy here and able to join in the activities and had a wonderful relationship with the staff. This year she has been very, very ill and although at the moment is doing well,
we don't know how long it will last. All of the staff, from management and carers to kitchen, housekeeping and cleaners are absolutely wonderful - they are caring, kind and genuinely fond of my mother. Just as she and the family have become of them. To us, they are now part of our extended family and we just hope that my mother can continue to enjoy their compassion, kind-heartedness and thoughtfulness. The sympathy and kindness they have shown during this trying time has been incredible, nothing is too much for them. I hope that everyone's older relatives can have the same consideration that my mother and our family have received at Charters, they are an example of excellence to the caring community.

Oak Ward and Charters Court have looked after my mother and lately my father in his final moments. The standard of care has been high and personal bearing in mind these difficult times. I am very grateful for all the kindness and patience shown to both my parents. I feel my mum is in safe hands.

My Father in Law is very well cared for and although his condition is deteriorating, he seems happy enough. I am pleased that if there is any change in medication or he needs NHS treatment, we are informed immediately. The current management is excellent. The fact that there have been no cases of COVID-19
in the home is almost entirely down the quick actions of the current manager, to whom our everlasting and grateful thanks are due.

My father has been in Charters Court Care Home for two years to date. This place was such a find initially, as we came upon it quite by accident when my father needed respite care. In his own words "they take good care of you here". The current manager has coped amazingly at a very difficult time, always
professional and caring. He is also highly respected and supported by a very professional and caring team of staff. We, as a family, are very happy to mark this home 10/10.

Difficult to recommend with no experience of other care homes.
The staff treat the residents well and are most helpful and kind.
Continuity of manager would be an advantage.

Daytime carers are very helpful and competent. Nighttime rather less so.
Shortages of staff quite frequently and surprised to see carers emptying bins - an obvious shortage of cleaning staff.
Staff do not have enough time to sit with patients.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased that you find the day carers helpful and competent. All of our carers go through the same rigorous training, development programme and supervision checks, so should be performing to the same level however the Unit Manager will look into your concern, and how we can improve. There are rarely staff shortages on the unit except when there is lateness, unexpected sickness that can’t be covered by permanent or agency staff. We have had a shortage of housekeepers, so as we work as a team, at times the carers have emptied bins as they would on any other day that it was necessary, as housekeepers are not in the building 24/7. We have now recruited two new Housekeepers who will be joining us over the next couple of weeks. We have three activity staff, so there are always plenty of people around to spend time with residents.

As a Manager, Julie has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Julie closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what her favourite about being a Home Manager, Julie remarked:


"My favourite thing about being a Home Manager is Knowing my residents are safe, cared for and supported by my staff team. That the home is respected and somewhere people want to come and live.”


Outside of work, Julie enjoys spending quality time with her family.
