Ferndown Manor is a purpose-built care home, offering permanent and respite residential, nursing and dementia care in luxurious surroundings.

Located in Dorset, each of the home’s bedrooms are en-suite and individually styled. Residents are encouraged to live fulfilled lives with premium facilities including a cinema, hair salon and café. Residents living with dementia can relax in the dedicated Namaste room and outside there are beautiful, landscaped gardens.

The experienced Ferndown team get to know each resident, including their needs, interests and tastes, tailoring their care and lifestyle plans to suit each individual. They plan a wide range of activities such as music sessions, outings and growing vegetables in the garden.

Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level
of care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge.
Nursing fees include the Funded Nursing Contribution (FNC) if you are eligible. There are no additional fees for respite stays.

other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply an agreed hourly charge for this service.

When my father arrived at Ferndown Manor her was only days away from the end. With the help and care of all the staff, from the carers to the chef, he is still with us 8 weeks on. He's eating more and looks much better. He now has some sort of quality of life.

The reception staff are excellent. This is so important when you are visiting a very ill relative and gave me such an excellent first impression. Most of the care support staff are very caring and treat the patients with dignity. There was only one issue - when we need an update, this can be difficult
because the RGN's have been from an agency, however they are very polite and do their best. This is an excellent nursing home.

I have been very pleased with the care that has been given to my husband so far. The care home is light and airy and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. It makes me feel relieved to know that he is in good hands at the end of his life.

We were very pleased with the way the staff looked after my husband and the way they dealt with us each time we visited. My husband was always peaceful and quietly spoken, unlike how he was when he came to you!
Some of my husband's possessions were missing when he came home but I am sure the staff
will do the best to find the missing items. I have returned a bag full of items which were returned to us wrongly.

Staff are warm, friendly and approachable towards relatives. Carers always offer us a hot drink when we sit with my mum on a visit. The room is clean, light and airy. Carers put classical radio on as this is Mum's favourite type of music. Carers keep us updated with how Mum is doing i.e. drinking/eating
etc. The care home is like a 5-star hotel, doesn't have the normal 'care home' feel. Fantastic range of activities available to residents.

Our experience with Ferndown Manor was absolutely top-notch. They gave my father dignity and showed him kindness and compassion. The staff never complained once at the number of family visitors, or of the pressure on nurses when our father required intensive twenty-four hour nursing. The effort they
put into making sure he has the very best possible bed was so reassuring. The facilities are outstanding. There is ample space for visitors and family to relax informally. The constant provision of refreshments sounds a small detail but meant a lot to us. Senior management staff deserve particular mention. We can't speak too highly of their professionalism yet kindness.

It is a pleasure to visit Mum as she is happy most of the time. She is well cared for and everyone knows her. Her room is bright and cheerful. She enjoys the food although it has to be liquidised. She enjoys a trip out in the minibus.

Staff all cheerful and smart.
The room allocated to my husband was very thoughtfully selected as we have a larger, devoted family.
He was cared for in every possible way in the highest quality of nursing.
The food was excellent and refreshment facilities excellent.

As soon as my friend and I walked into Ferndown Manor we both fell in love with the surroundings and how clean, decor was amazing, with a very relaxed and homely feel. We were greeted by a knowledgable lady at reception, she said 'have you made an appointment?', we said no, 'but if you would like to
have a cup of coffee, the Customer Relations Manager would be with us in about 30 minutes. He came and met us in a very professional manner, he took us in a private room to discuss about having my dear, terminal husband to make it his home as he was too ill to be nursed at home. The home is excellent in every way. It's very clean, staff always available and can never do enough for you. Food is five star. My husband has a comfortable room, almost like his own room at home. Well done Ferndown Manor and all it's caring staff.

My friend has been a resident since December 2018 and is very happy here. As his dementia continues to progress, although not self-motivated, he is encouraged to take part in the numerous activities and outings. His general experience is of being well cared for and not unkempt. If there are any problems
regarding his care, informing of minor health problems, falls etc, we are always contacted promptly.

All staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive. They know about my mum's special health and care needs and the majority of staff also address me by my name too. My mum has settled well into a residential style environment and is grateful that all her needs are met. She is happy to be here.

My aunt has found a home with security, care and compassion and is also very supportive towards the family as we are all experiencing the sad decline into dementia. My aunt may not be the most co-operative person, however, all of the staff

My daughter comes here for respite care so that I can have a break.
The setting is fantastic and her care is exemplary, I know she is safe and her wellbeing is at the top of the staff's agenda.
They go the extra mile to ensure she is comfortable.
She feels part of the Ferndown family as soon as she
arrives.
The nursing staff are able and willing to look after her very complex needs and are always professional and very thorough in all they do.
I wish I could stay there!

Mother has improved immeasurably since she has been a resident. Put on weight, which was very necessary, became calmer and more sociable rather than being isolated at home. The staff have so much patience with all the residents.

My father came to Ferndown Manor following a fall which exacerbated his Alzheimers's and other medical condition. I did this reluctantly due to poor support and care we had received n the past. I was amazed at Ferndown Manor. The care, particularly nursing care (which Dad needs due to 4 chronic illnesses)
is second to none. The staff are all caring and very special people. For the first time in 6 years, I feel relaxed knowing he is in safe and capable hands.

Job Title: Home Manager

I joined Ferndown Manor in 2021. Before I joined Care UK I worked as a Home Manager for several care homes, and before that, I worked as a District Nurse Manager for 20 years.


I decided to join Care UK as the company was highly recommended and its values reflect how care should be delivered and how I would want to be cared for.


In my role as Home Manager, I want to ensure the home remains a happy, safe place where residents thrive, and the team is proud to work. I want to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained. To succeed in this role, you need to be a good listener, be empathetic, have strong leadership skills, and be a good role model.


Walking around the home first thing in the morning is my favourite part of my job as it gives me an opportunity to greet every member of staff and residents. I also love to see the atmosphere when residents are enjoying positive participation in fulfilling activities.


My biggest professional challenge so far has been taking a home from an Inadequate CQC rating to Good.
