My aunt has lived at Emerson Grange for over five years and is extremely settled. The care provided is first-class and well worth the cost. My aunt's dementia has deteriorated but the activities provided keep her engaged. It is pleasing to see how cheerful she is when involved with the group activities.
Recent changes implemented by the management are already enhancing the overall care. Thank you all!
Reply from Sue Simmonds, General Manager at Emerson Grange Care HomeThank you so much for your review. We all have noticed your Aunt's happy engagement in the activity programme. I am very glad to hear that you have noticed the positive impact of the recent changes.

My mother-in-law lives at the home, and it has made such a difference to her. She was living on her own, had a few falls, was diagnosed with dementia and became anxious. It was a constant worry for our family, but now, when we visit, she is relaxed, eating better and doing more activity. The staff are
very patient and caring, and we are very happy with the decision we made.

My mother-in-law lived at Hextable for 5 years she passed away in August and after 5 years not even a card or flowers were sent to my wife, and no representation at the funeral. Shows you what the care means, we care about your money each month, it's a joke after 5 years of living there they don't give
a hoot, just show you.
Reply from Sue Simmonds, General Manager at Emerson Grange Care HomeWe are deeply saddened to receive your review. Your mother-in-law was a much-loved resident in our home and both staff and other residents have felt her loss. It is not our policy to approach families requesting information on funeral arrangements out of respect for families during this difficult time. Typically, families have forwarded us information and invited us to attend.
I understand that a condolence card was sent to you and in normal circumstances, once made aware of the funeral arrangements, we would have sent flowers and where possible some of the Emerson team would have attended.
I can only apologise for the miscommunication at this sad time.

I don't even know where to start; the care my friend has received from the staff has been so compassionate. Staff are attentive and do their best to meet everyone's needs. My friend was here for a few weeks and there was a change in their mood and she was even eating better. I like the fact that I could
express any concerns and they got dealt with on the spot. Good management team and support from both home deputy manager and unit manager. Thank you.

It is a very good home with a good quality standard of care service. They should work on some staff attitude about gossip and the unit manager of their first floor is unprofessional and too diplomatic. I talked to some staff currently leaving and they complained about the attitude of this manager.
Reply from Vincent Hook, General Manager at Emerson Grange Care HomeDear James,
Thank you for your comments about the good quality of the service we provide. I am disappointed to read the remarks you have made about the manager. I fully accept you have the right to provide feedback on your experience of the people who work here. However, in this case, I would have to say that the manager in question is of the highest calibre. Her dedication and commitment to the residents at this home are excellent. She is one of the main reasons that our standards are so high and I am grateful that she works as part of my team. I fully respect your views and your right to express them, but I have asked the manager to reflect on the praise and thanks she has received from so many of our residents and family members over the past few years.

Emerson Grange is very welcoming, and having assessed a number of homes, my opinion is that it is superior to all other local homes. It is spacious, and the bedrooms are adequately self-contained. The dining facilities are very good, and the food is well prepared and of a high standard. Care workers
vary. Some carers are extremely kind and friendly due to their culture. All areas are scrupulously clean. Management is available and helpful. Every effort is made to keep this as a high-class care home.

My dad stayed at Emerson Grange for four weeks of respite care. During his time there, we saw him thrive. He has dementia and was cared for by specialist staff in a safe and friendly environment. There were lots of activities offered to engage and stimulate Dad. He especially enjoyed the singing! A
minibus was available to take residents out on trips locally, and I thought this was a lovely idea.
The staff were all amazing and treated Dad with kindness and respect. He was encouraged to be as independent as possible, and his privacy and dignity were considered at all times.
The variety of food offered at mealtimes was brilliant, with lots of healthy, tasty options. Our family were made welcome whenever we visited, and the staff were always happy to answer any queries we had.
It is a difficult decision to make when you place a parent into respite care, but after an initial visit to look around, and seeing the positive changes in Dad, I was reassured that we had made a great choice.
Highly recommend!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.862) out of 10 for Emerson Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 76 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 76 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.862 for Emerson Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (785 Excellents x 5) + (106 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 900 Ratings = 4.862
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Emerson Grange Care Home is based on 76 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17, which has been reached with 76 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Head of Care & Registered Manager Joined: 2024

What I Do:

In May 2022, I made the significant decision to join Cinnamon as the Care Service Manager, a choice that has since proven to be the most rewarding in my career. Within the company, I was fortunate to be promoted to Head of Care/Registered Manager.

As Head of Care/Registered Manager, I am responsible for overseeing the complete care process for our residents, starting from the preadmission phase. My primary goal is to ensure that each resident’s care journey begins with a strong foundation, allowing us to deliver personalized, compassionate, and high-quality care.

My role at Emerson Grange presents an exciting and inspiring challenge. I am committed to bringing my expertise, experience, and dedication to enhancing the well-being of our residents while upholding the highest standards of care. My focus is on ensuring that each resident enjoys a dignified and fulfilling quality of life. I am enthusiastic about contributing to the continued success of Emerson Grange as a leader in UK care services.

My Experience:

My healthcare career began in 2007 when I started working as a healthcare assistant within the National Health Service (NHS). This role provided me with invaluable hands-on experience and laid the foundation for my future in healthcare.

With a commitment to furthering my education and expertise, I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Greenwich University, gaining essential knowledge and skills for delivering high-quality patient care. To expand my understanding of public health, I also earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Health from the University of Sunderland. This advanced qualification has enriched my perspective on healthcare management and service delivery.

Throughout my time with Cinnamon, I have gained extensive experience as a Care Service Manager, where I have embraced the company’s vision and values. This continuity has enabled me to transition smoothly into my current role as Head of Care/Registered Manager, where I am committed to fostering high standards of care for all residents.

About Me:

I am fortunate to be married and a proud parent of three wonderful children who continually inspire and motivate me in both my personal and professional life. Beyond my work and family, I enjoy pursuing creative hobbies such as design, where I take pleasure in the process of bringing ideas to life. I also have a passion for party planning, finding joy in organizing memorable events that bring happiness to others.

Job Title: Resident Service Advisor Joined: 2021

What I do:
As a Resident Services Advisor, I support families who are considering a change in their current living situation, sometimes as a choice and sometimes due to necessity. My role is both rewarding and fulfilling and brings me great satisfaction as no two days are ever the same, just as no two people are ever the same.

My aim is to support families to make the decision that is right for them and their loved ones. I appreciate that moving, whether downsizing to one of our apartments or into our care home, is a highly emotional experience, and I support and guide our residents and their families through the process, both offering advice and ensuring a smooth and timely move.

My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 20 years. My initial role as an activity coordinator provided me with the wonderful opportunity to get to know residents and learn about them as individuals. I have worked both regionally and at the home level in a variety of roles. As a member of the Emerson Park team, I endeavour to continue with my commitment to supporting residents, their families and my colleagues in ensuring that our home is a great place to live and work.

About me
I am lucky to have a large family around me, and when I am spending time away from work, I love to enjoy the company of those I love. I enjoy gardening, walking, and reading. I am a secret twitcher and can get overly excited when I see a rare bird.
