Otterburn is a nurse-led care home for adults with complex needs and aims to make every day better for service users. Identifying achievable goals with service users, their families and professionals ensures individuals retain some form of independence.
Care and activity plans are centred around each individual, who are encouraged to be happy and fulfilled.
Otterburn has three units; Otter, Fox and Squirrel, each with 10 bedrooms. Each unit has a dining room, lounge and a quiet area. Bedrooms are decorated to suit individual tastes, each fitted with TV and telephone access points, as well as an en-suite wet room.
Service user forums are held every eight weeks, allowing everyone to share their views on activities and put forward any ideas for the future. Social activities are part of a healthy and balanced life at Otterburn, and services users participate in many group and individual activities dependent on their personal interests. Outings are regular, with days out including visits to the park, the local cinema and even holidays to Wales. An on-site minibus means transport is always available.
Otterburn provides service users with access to the garden, where many events occur throughout the summer. Raised flower beds are also featured in the garden, brilliant for individuals who wish to try their hand at gardening.
Otterburn has a firm open door policy. Friends and family are encouraged to visit at any time and play an active role in the service users life.

I visit my friend once a week and feel very happy with the care she receives. The staff are always polite and ready to answer any questions I might have. They show great kindness to my friend. My friend has been there for 2 years and said she likes living at Otterburn. I like to keep my eye on things and will voice my concerns if necessary.
